  1. Past hour
  2. Should only cost CC and Mailloux ... 😉
  3. If it was a "buriable" contract ($1.15M) I would still consider it ... see what MSL and/or some time in Laval can do with him ... of course, that would be contingent on Carolina buying him out ...per CapFriendly, 'Canes still have the 1/3 buyout option for 2025 and 2026, so they may be patient for another year unless they have a specific need for the almost $4M they would save next season ... they have $27M in cap space for 24/25 (per CF) but have Teräväinen, Guentzel, Necas, Jarvis, Skjei, Pesce and some other UFA/RFAs to re-sign/replace.
  4. Hey, I was open to bringing him in on a cheap deal, but point taken. Just another in a long line of disastrous high picks from the Habs in the pre-Hugo era. This time, though - just for a change - Carolina paid the price for our managerial incompetence rather than us. And that commupance could not have been more richly deserved for an organization that acted like a bunch of trolls.
  5. I don't think the Habs will take Eiserman with their 1st pick however he does have elite goal scoring skills and is one of the youngest guys in the draft so he has time to mature. If he falls much then maybe you try and trade up to take him although that is tough to do.
  6. Parekh is the kind of Dman that we need and our RD would be solid for a decade. We need another high pick so we can grab one of those exciting forwards too
  7. my potato head wish is either Lindstrom, Catton or Dickinson (I know he is an LD) is there a poll or a prediction thread?
  8. Safe to say Eiserman will always have more goals than assists and worry is that when aint scoring, he wont bring much to table (Hoffman i keep thinking)
  9. In the tourney Iginla finished 5th in scoring and Ritchie 11th. An interesting stat is that Eiserman (on a team that scored 33 more goals than it gave up) finished with a plus minus of 0.
  10. Today
  11. My guess, the Aves. Will be some wildass mockdraft guesses which players GMs draft in the top ten this year, with so many quality d-men in the mix (a year late for Habs though). Wheeler attended the U-18s and new ranking. 2024 NHL Draft top 32 prospects: Macklin Celebrini leads Scott Wheeler’s post-U18 worlds ranking - The Athletic "Five of the top-10 prospects on my list are D, and I’m higher on each of them than I was on the two defensemen taken in the top 10 in 2023 (David Reinbacher No. 5 to Montreal and Dmitri Simashev No. 6 to Arizona)." A sea of d-men around 5.
  12. Caufield vs Slafkovski today in tune up game. Guhle to play vs Hungary
  13. Beck is done OHL playoffs and off till Memorial Cup. Kapanen named to Finn world team. Rohrer played vs Guhle yesterday 5-1 win for Canada exhibition game. Kapanen played vs Sweden in 4-3 Finn win in Euro "Tour"
  14. Vegas without Ducharme wins the cup. Vegas with Ducharme goes golfing 🤷‍♂️ Nah, Dallas was great and Oettenger was really great. Dallas, Colorado is going to be a fun series
  15. The reason that there aren't many AHL contracts being signed is that we're in May. It's usually when free agency opens up that we see a bunch of those deals. Interesting tidbit about the CBA extension though, I wasn't aware of that (nor is it updated on the PHPA's website; I was just on there on the weekend looking for something).
  16. And to think that some on this forum wanted to bring back that immature punk 😕
  17. Interesting discussion about Sennecke starting about the 38 minute mark. Looks incredible in some of the clips. McCagg would take him over Iginla now. There is a goal at the 41:20 mark that is phenomenal McCagg: Wouldn't Shock Me If Sennecke Went Top 3 - Prospect Talk #50 (youtube.com)
  18. I was hoping for a Vegas win as that would move the Winnipeg pick to 26 (only reason I would ever cheer for Vegas). Hopefully the Avs can take out Dallas which would accomplish the same thing. The Avs are well rested but Dallas will be tough, not sure who the favourite is in this series.
  19. I watched that play over and over again trying to figure out what went wrong for the Leafs. I don't know if it was a set play or just dumb luck. There have been a lot of weird bounces off the back boards/stanchions. Skinner got burned badly against LA giving up an easy goal and there have been others so maybe goalies are getting a little nervous coming out to try and play or anticipate the bounces. If it was a set play then it was done to perfection as Pastrnak was streaking across the blueline at full speed just as the puck entered the zone. The speed and angle at which the puck came off the backboards seemed a little unusual (although not sure what usual is anymore) making it difficult for Samsonov to react in time. If I blame anyone I would blame the Leaf defensemen on that side who should have been in a better position to retrieve the puck. That's my take on it for what it's worth. Bottom line, the Leafs lost and we can happily move forward.
  20. Offer sheets rarely work, I don't think that is Hughes preferred method of acquiring talent.
  21. Would you offer sheet Necas? That would be exciting.
  22. Absolutely, that was not a typical normal dump in. You noticed and suspect the identical thing I do. i.e. the angle that puck took out of the corner was not a predictable angle. Unless .... I'm sure it was a set play with deliberate intent of having the puck take that strange bounce off the boards. They likely know that specific spot has an odd behaviour and they exploited the crap out of it. That's something they have practiced to have that exact strange bounce. Samsonov had no chance of playing that puck. The only mistake he made is was he was too far back in his crease and was standing on the goal line.
  23. Kotkaniemi 0pts 0 shots 10:57, 1 for 1 on faceoffs, in loss today.
  24. Stars goalie Jake Oettinger has more points than Kotkaniemi in these playoffs
