But somehow, we can't win in the playoffs if he's on the third line, and we have better options on lines 1 and 2. How does that makes sense?

Isn't the reason for getting him is so they can reunite him with Galchenyuk to see if there's any of that magic at the pro level? If they're not going to put him with Chucky then I can think of 20 other guys I'd rather waste a 2nd on.

It hurts when bonuses are hit by rookies. Teams that have players on LTIR for several years inevitably start with a cap lower than other teams as a result of those bonuses being achieved. Teams in LTIR for a full season finish with a cap hit of $0 and bonuses get added on to that. Both Philly and Boston had issues with this which resulted in Pronger and Savard getting dealt. Detroit may be in a similar boat with Franzen moving forward. Being on LTIR for that long does have its consequences.

Patches is one of the few that I am happy with, I have absolutely no problem with his play. He is a sniper, give me 2 more just like or even one would be ok.
