  1. You didn't have to give him a pat on the back, Commandant, but you didn't have to jump down his throat either. I form a lot of my opinions from sportscasters, hockey magazines etc... and although I acknowledge that doesn't make me an expert, I can still state my case. I just don't want another thread to dissolve into personal attacks, so how about we all play nice, ok?

  2. I agree with DON...players will get over it fast. In fact many will be relieved that that jerk can't threaten Price's career any more. I'm resigned to the reality that Galy is gone and that the return will not reflect the potential that many of us see in him. For myself, I'm not sure he has the hockey smarts to become more than a one-dimensional player peaking at maybe 70 points, which is nothing to sneeze at, but not necessarily a franchise cornerstone. Kreider would be an acceptable return, especially given Galy's deflated value due to CJ's handling, and given how much our FW unit would benefit from a power forward. Perhaps a better question is positional. This team still sucks at C. If we're going to move the 3rd overall pick who was supposed to fix that problem, shouldn't we be thinking more in terms of a Duchesne or Nuge? Just asking.

  3. "Hey guys, remember that guy that ran our goalie and injured him in the Eastern finals a few years ago? Well now he is on our team" I can't see that going over well in the dressing room

  4. Why dont you get over yourself in presumptive my to know what I thought prior to the draft. No I didn’t see Kreider play - just as I didn’t see Leblanc play. I did read numerous draft rankings and reports and Kreider was listed as a speedy power forward and some of the rankings back than even listed him as a player that would fill a need Montreal had. I think bob McKenzie or button were one of those that had Montreal picking Kreider. Can’t remember for sure who it was now. On the other hand, most rankings listed Leblanc as a centre with good intelligence and vision, but needing to fill out and add improve on his speed. I have always been in favour of drafting power forwards with speed - which is why I hated the Mcarron pick so much (and wrote as much here at the time) and the numerous picks like the turner stevenson picks. So why don’t you get over yourself and keep your BS comments to yourself: If I recall correctly, Kreider went a spot or two after Leblanc.

  5. nice to see Hudon and Lekohonan get a pair each. they have another game now against a struggling and injured Wild team, so that should also be easy pickings.

  6. Think Montoya put the pin in this topic with his play and result last night. He has proved more than capable, take away the blowout outlier last year against Columbus and his numbers are very respectable since part of mtl. he is fine, relatively cheap, happy to be the backup. It was never a problem for price previously to have little internal competition so to bring that up now is a moot point. Really trying to drag this thread along though. Backup goalies (goalies in general given the prospects) are far from the problem in Mtl.

  7. So does that mean we really don't need a top 6 center in the league? If we just got some players with size and speed that play physical it would change things for us. We need a mix of Playmakers/size/speed/physical players. We have to many soft two way players on this team. Its been like this for the past 20 years, which is why we get the same result year after year.

  8. 100% agree. My hope is MB is fired before he can trade galchenyuk - but I doubt that’s going to happen. I think when he finally traded galchenyuk, th return on that trade is what will ultimately get him fired.

  9. Why would you believe that? He has already played 350games and his best was 56pts. Likely not very often a guy with that experience all of a sudden takes off, is it? Compared to a Forsberg, who already has 2 60+ and a 58pt season under his belt, in 275games. Even Plekanec already had a 69 and 70pt season at similar stage.

  10. I don't think its the coach that's the reason we can't score. The reason is we have too many two way players and not enough Playmakers on this team. These players are too soft and get pushed off the puck too easily. You get more Playmakers on this team and the ice starts to open up. Plus no one goes to the net. The rebounds are there they just can't get to them. Look at the sens game , look at the goals scored most of them off rebounds from guys going to the net.

  11. So you base your opinions of who would be a good pick not by your own eyes but what you are told second hand. Sorry if im not going to give you a pat on the back and a good job for regurgitating what others said. Look at me im so smart i can repeat mckenzie and button and i wanted kreider in 2009. Sorry not giving you an ego boost cause you were "right" about a prospect you never saw.

  12. You wanted Kreider prior to the 2009 draft. Tell me how many games of Phillips Andover High School had you watched before the 2009 draft? Or was it during his time with the EJHL's Valley Jr. Warriors that you had watched him. He did not play for Boston College or Team USA until after he was drafted. Saying that you knew about him pre-2009 draft is B.S. There is virtually no chance that you had ever seen a single game of his, even on tv.
