I'd welcome him back as a bottom-6 option. The problem is, KK is a kid who has always had things handed to him underserved: fat contract from Carolina, brought into the NHL at 19 without having earned it, etc. And I suspect this will continue...some team will give him a higher salary point than he deserves, based on "potential" and draft pedigree. And I assume that team won't be us.1 point

Just checking KK's stats. I think he had 12 points after the first 12 games, now he has 18 points in 52 games. Doing some simple math that's 6 points in his last 40 games. It almost brings a tear to my eye. Now if only we had kept the picks instead of trading for Dvorak.1 point

Small difference in faceoff success. Malhotra was elite at nearly 60%. Evans' career success rate is 51%, slightly better than a coin flip. Granted, the Habs aren't great on the draw now with Monahan traded and Dvorak done for the year but 51% isn't a faceoff specialist like a Malhotra was. Don't get me wrong, he's serviceable as a 4C, but that's about all he is.1 point

This morning on TSN690 Dreger specified that the Habs-Avs hadn't discussed Allen in 10 days to two weeks, but that he could see Allen as a good backup match for Colorado ... as I said above, *** IF *** the Avs can find a 2C (maybe a 3C) elsewhere, then Johansen+ for Allen could make sense as long as saving Colorado the buyout cost is factored in to the "+" along with the differential in utility of the two players.
