  1. Given the score and it being an exhibition game likely yes.
  2. a) what the Habs regular season record will be: wins-losses-OTL-SOL 29-38-10-5. EDIT: 73 points b) in what place in the Atlantic Division the Habs will finish 8th c) in what place in the league the Habs will finish 30th d) Tiebreaker the total number of goals Cole Caufield will score this season (including goals scored in shootout win or lose) as a Hab 37
  3. Agreed ... but the most important thing is that he provides 6'4" of insulation for the youngsters ... and I have a funny feeling that there may be another waiver pickup in the near future, unless Edmundson is healthier than they haven't told us (HINT: I am annoyed by the lack of updates on an injury that was not supposed to be serious).
  4. And under the circumstances. W - T - F is Caufield doing in the lineup???
  5. To clarify, does the bolded text above mean Caufield's total "Rocket Richard Award eligible" goals plus one for every: shootout the Habs win, regardless of whether Caufield shoots or scores; goal Caufiled scores in a shootout that the habs win; or goal Caufield scores in a shootout
  6. d) Tiebreaker the total number of goals Cole Caufield will score this season (including 1 goal per shootout win). Does a goal get added regardless of whether Caufield shoots and/or scores? Or do you want the total number of goals Caufield scores, including any scored in a shootout, but only those shootouts that the Habs win.
  7. For a very few it is already over, if it ever began ... for the majority, as long as their moves seem positive, "the path" is clear and the youngsters show progress.
  8. Given the obstacles he has overcome thus far I doubt "focus" will be the challenge ... improved agility and quickness seems likely to be the biggest challenge, or increasing the speed at which he reads the play and reacts to minimize any such deficiencies.
  9. As has been said, those players don't make it to waivers ... AND ... are "expensive", if ev available, on the trade market ... especially RHD Most of those are 5/6/7 defencemen, not "minute-eaters" or "shut down" ... for THIS season a 5/6/7 is what the Habs need ... someone to night-in/night-out play the needed minutes, albeit not likely very well, but well enough to give the youngh=gsters time in Laval ... I-M-O Guhle seems to be the only youngster currently ready for regular NHL action.
  10. Of course ... he's not alone in that regard.
  11. Agreed ... the ideal would be a NHL 5/6 D who could transition to a 6/7 role as the prospects progress ... but under the circumstances I think they just need someone who can fill a spot about as well as the "still baking" prospects in order to give the youngsters the time they need in the AHL.
  12. Very true ... but bringing someone like Ingram would: (a) provide an upgrade over Montembeault to help support the development of the youngsters, especially on defence, (b) keep Primeau in Laval so he doesn't have to risk the very issue you raise, and (c) take a shot at ***MAYBE*** adding a legit prospect to the goalie pipeline.
  13. He had a bad 20/21 season but other than that, he has had four very decent AHL/ECHL seasons.
  14. Perhaps more importantly ... if they determine that Harris and Barron are not yet quite ready ... and can't find a better (if still not good) veteran place-holder on waivers, then they may be more willing to "sacrifice" Bowey than to be premature in giving a true prospect real ice-time.
  15. Start with the selection & management of the international teams and build down from there ... find a way to install a caretaker board at the current Hockey Canada to ensure that no more cover-up payments are made but still provide the basic services (e.g., legitimate insurance coverage).
  16. Respectfully disagree ... behind this defence corps I have no confidence that Primeau would continue to develop ... and he is FAR from "fully-cooked" IMO.
  17. There are the 41 goalies who have been in the NHL for over the last three seasons (*) ... AND ... who played at least 30 but no more than 90 games (**) ... Sam Montembeault ranks 39th in Sv% in that group ... so without improvement, IMO not an NHL average backup ... in fact, his only professional season with a Sv% above .900 was his 11 games with the Springfield Thunderbirds in 2019-20. * - Sam Montembeault's NHL career ** - quick and dirty approximation to filter out starting goalies and occasional fill-ins EDIT: emphasized above ... not all necessarily have been there for all three seasons and too lazy to check one-by-one.
  18. We haven’t seen Paul Byron at training camp, and it could be a while before we see him again. Ongoing problems with his left hip, the same one he had surgery on in July 2021, are preventing him from skating and are starting to cloud the rest of his career. - Marc Antoine Godin, The Athletic Interesting read ... it seems likely Byron is heading to LTIR and may well never return. EDIT: ***** IF ***** HuGo are confident Paul will be on LTIR all season, they ***** may ***** want to take advantage and add a contract (defenceman likely) before the start of the season to maximize LTIR benefits.
  19. Agree about the trades ... for no particular reason I have a feeling that Jake Evans might be the first player to get moved ... not immediately or to "dump him" ... but I could see a team deciding he fits a need at a reasonable AAV and offer fair value.
  20. "Apparently" even less than that ... Patrick was in Brossard to have dinner with his son and stopped by to say hello to Hughes.
  21. 2019 NHL Draft ... 14th overall ... thank you Chuck Fletcher ... if per chance you don't know why <click here>
  22. Right now I doubt the Habs can get anything worthwhile for Byron (has he even stepped onto the ice yet?) or Armia or Drouin or Hoffman or Dadonov ... and by all accounts Walker is "worthwhile" ... in fact, I expect the Habs would have to either "pay" to move them or take back an equally bad contract ... NOT to say that working out a trade for Wlaker would be a bad idea.
  23. You say that like, for THIS season, its a bad thing.
