  1. Ditto. He's underwhelmed since his draft year. I mean he's still young and all, but isn't developing all that potential for shit where he is right now.
  2. Maybe we stay positive and hope that something (or somethings) will change in the top 9, which is our biggest issue by far. This helps the balance out a wee bit in the back end. Honestly i'm think Murray may be sitting out more than Tinordi. Don't you think that it's better for Jared's development to to play on his natural position with another stay-at-home, grizzly veteran? Who needs TWO crease clearers on the same pair? Tinordi can fill that role while Weaver helps the kid out.
  3. Good, because i was going to say WTF, we just dumped Drewiske to the minors to get older and shorter. Might be safe to assume he's a bottom pairing...so who of Tinordi or Murray sits? Guess Bouillion is really the odd man out at this stage.
  4. I'm guessing Tinordi held his own on that bout? Busy churning through spreadsheets for work so i'm missing the game right now.
  5. Benoit Brunet has got to be the dumbest analyst in all of hockey. Forget that RDS barely has a pool of qualified "experts" to pick from, but this guy is just ignorant beyond belief. They're commenting now about the availability of St. Louis and he's arguing (against the others) that St. Louis wants out of Tampa Bay because Yzerman didn't originally selected him for Team Canada. Who the F believes that crap? TSN spun the same story, but i figured anyone with a brain would dismiss that as speculative tripe - but this guy thinks that's the case. Who thinks a seasoned pro would be so butthurt that he'd want to get traded just so he didn't have to play in the same organization as Stevie Y (who must have veto'd him off the team to begin with, right??). Marty that much of an ego-maniac? To add to it, he finds St. Louis "very interesting with 14 points in his last 18 games" ....as if he'd be an option for the Habs. Yeah. Another short French guy who's also pushing 40. What a tool. Man grinds my gears. Thanks for listening.
  6. Can someone remind me the relevance of being on the all-star team? Just a footnote to add to one's resume? I don't think they go out and do a skills competition or play a game together, do they?
  7. This may be one of the best games i have ever witnessed.
  8. Jesus Christ - anyone watching the women's gold medal game?? The last 2 minutes alone have been absolutely heart-attack inducing. Canada has crawled back from a 2-0 deficit and almost losing from a referee knocking down a Canadian defenseman with the goalie out. Puck hit the post squarely. Absolutely crazy end of game. Let's see what OT brings!
  9. I'd be shocked if he gets that much more than league minimum. That one time he did score a 1m/1 year contract was some loophole that his agent leveraged, or so i recall reading. I want to stay he get scratched often, but then again, so do players who also make $1.2m-$4.1 on this team. He does take some important face-offs and is the only righty center we have....that could be worth something. We'll see how he plays down the stretch. I'll put it out there that if he, Bourneval, and Weise continue to gel and do what they've been doing, he might get an offer closer to what you're proposing.
  10. He's been an assistant captain for the last 5-6 seasons. He'll jump on Dustin Brown, Jerome Iginla, Getzlaf, etc. to defend his teammates or himself or to make a point. Basically he's not a pussy and will lead by example, both offensively and physically, if needed. Can't vouch if he's a talking head like Gorges, though.
  11. There's also some minor talk about Hemsky, which was picked up on the main page, although that might just be MB kicking the tires. He's another high-caliber RW and could be a nice upgrade over Gio. Granted, if some folks think Kesler is damaged goods, then i can see that option rather polarizing. He's a bit of a softy and goes down as often as Gaborik. If there's any truth to it, i could see Moen being a big piece of that given Edmonton's craving for toughness - plus he's a prairie boy, too. Plekanecs might enjoy a fellow Czech on his wing. PAP for Briere sits well with me, that's for sure. Of course there would need to be more from the Habs going into that deal. If it's a 3rd or a 4th, i'm cool with that. Why else would Colorado even want that deal? PAP is still good value for a 2nd liner. Maybe they are interested in Briere's mystical playoff resume.
  12. It does seem like there's a lot of tough love going his way. Management seems to be playing the mantra of him "accepting the challenge, reacting to adversity, creating his own opportunity". Must be to instill some "character" or "gain the respek" or whatever other Thierrien-eque wisdom copout that you normally here him spouting instead of getting the straight answer. Unlike a lot of other cases, i don't think the current management gives a shit about this kid being French.
  13. I ditto Neech's observation. Nothing that a little formatting magic can't do to swing that around. Hey who's the editor of that site, eh?? I KID!! Also - she could have used that chance to ask him how he lost that tooth. And what he thinks of Weise so far. And if he's going to take more boxing lessons.
  14. I was thinking maybe a good charlie-horse.
  15. Well, from the photo on the HW write-up it looks as though he had an A on his shirt. Maybe some added leadership for the team?
  16. Yeah really...what gives with that? Two 4th liners. We give up some size on this. Anything redeeming about Czarnik? He doesn't have a lot of games played in the AHL and i don't see that because of demotions to the ECHL. Often injured?
  17. Looks like it's St. Louis. I'm just wondering if it's a decision based on sentimentality. I mean for a 38 year old to perform this well at this stage of his career is amazing. But being objective, I would think Neal fills the RW need much better. He also has that chemistry with Crosby already and is the pure goal scorer that Stamkos would have been for us during the games. He's consistently at 0.5 goals per game for the last 3 years.
  18. Too bad they couldn't get a 4th line fighter with any sort of pugilistic skills. I don't think Weise has won a fight since he's been in the NHL. What does he bring that Moen doesn't other than 1.1 million in cap relief? http://www.hockeyfights.com/players/2908
  19. And how do you dump guys (next year) who are free agents? Hab29, you need to find some quaaludes or a doob and chill, brah! Just looking at the number of question marks at the end of your sentences and i know you're ready to kick a baby
  20. Thought they were looking for young bodies to fit that new GM role in Buffalo. After Stan Bowman has given the Habs "permission to speak to" countless people in their organization, I wonder what people think about this defensive manover by Bergevin.
  21. http://hamiltonbulldogs.com/pressbox/news/?article_id=535 Confirmed.
  22. I came searching for this thread to say the same. Aliu and McIver are definitely interesting. I haven't followed Aliu in a long time but definitely know the story of his junior days with Steve Downie. He's massive & McIver is no slouch either - and of high character while being a solid defensive D in the AHL. Those other folks, however, aren't too impressive on their stats alone...
  23. Sad indeed. Hopeful he got to make a bit of coin during his brief time in the big league.
  24. I'm sure it deserves its own thread, or at the very least, a continuation of an older one, but Blake Geoffrion has confirm his retirement. Poor kid.
