  1. I agree with point 4 a lot. Before I went to Montreal, I was a little worried about comunication. It's not an issue at all. There is a lot of ignorance about Montreal. Westerners just don't know what it is really like there. It is not our fault, it is just a world away. When I went to Montreal, I saw how culturaly diverse and accepting the general population are, and it is now my favourite Canadian city.
  2. I am curious to see how Subaan will do in training camp. I would like to see him get some AHL seasoning time, but I bet we'll see this kid real soon.
  3. Komi and Kosto are the only free agents I am concerned about. Will Komi want to stay here? I don't know I would not want to pay him more than 5 mill per year. Kosto signs for 2 mill. I love that guy. If the cube wants to play a 1 mill, I would take him as a 6th D and hope Emilin and Weber are ready. Schneider would also be interesting. I wonder how much money he would be looking for. Would he be more interested in some stability at the end of his career. He has been kicked around the league a lot. The rest... meh.
  4. What worries me is that this season will come down to the last three games. Rags Broons and Pens. This team is in trouble still. I have no more confidence in them.
  5. I agree with the list with the exception of Rinne. It's a little early for him to be pushing out Koivu. But really, Saks is no longer a great player. He is just good.
  6. Absolutely correct. And for the record, I think that staged fights are stupid. The fight after the hit has always been there. I hope it always will. Especially after a not so clean hit or headshot, but staged fights are a farce to the game IMO. I listened to an interesting interview of Dave Schultz on XM radio, and he said the same thing. Ban staged fights. I do agree with Laraque that this does nothing for the safety of enforcers who do fight. I believe that the takedown is actually the root of the safety issue. You never saw this a lot back in the day. So now you can't police each other, because you will get the instegator, and you can't call someone out cuz you will get a 10 minute and instigator.
  7. Higgins never had a shot. Ryder had the shot. Higgins got the Shutt style garbage goals, which he isn't getting for some reason.
  8. Man i laughed out loud when I read that. Bring back Kovy and Lats. Bench Saku for a game. I would also rather have the larger version of Metropolit. (Ryder) The small chubby faced version of ryder is too small. We are doomed.
  9. shots on goal NJD 48 Bunch of Losers with no heart or character or chemistry : 23. Devils sweep the bunch of bums again.
  10. I agree with you. This team is not a winning team. They played with jump for 30 minutes, and chased their tails for the rest. I don't know. I think Bob has a lot of thinking to do for signing players. The only free agents I would worry about are Plek, Komi and Tangs. Let the rest walk, unless Kovy signs for less.
  11. F--K Brodeur. Who cares. Not me. Mail in the third period ya bunch of bums. I cheer for and go out of my way to watch a bunch of bums. CAN WE PLEASE HAVE A SYSTEM OR COACH TO TELL THESE BUNCH OF LOSERS WHAT TO DO IN THEIR OWN ZONE. LOSERS
  12. I see a system. North south with speed. Chip the boards. We broke the trap at will in the second. If this team can play like this for the rest of the season, we are OK. Reffing is a little one sided tonight. NHL head office must want the big story. Brodeur ties wins in Montreal.
  13. sadly Brodeur gets his tying win tonight.
  14. Good penalty by Kostopolous. wow a hit in front of our net
  15. The only problem is that when the team was playing well, he never made those crazy decisions. He only did it when they were in trouble, and it never worked. It seems like instead of making system or tactical adjustments, he would throw grinders out there.
  16. That's exactly the way I see it too. I also think that co-capaincy needs to be considered.
  17. Yesterday TK played about 5 or 6 minutes less than he normally plays. Those minutes were played by the Koivu line. I know that TK and Laps have been the hardest workers on the team all year, but at some point you have to go with the guys who can score. You have to play your best players. Gainey did that. Carbo did not. Everyone is blaming Koivu for the team crapping out in Edmonton after the bowling game. I was there. BGL and TK in 90% of the power plays? Grinders on the top line? Gorges playing forward? Not to mention that Hammer and Komi played their worst game of the season. Why couldn't Carbo see that Komi and Markov bailed each other out? I saw Komi make those mistakes last year, but Markov bailed him out. He never put Schnieder with Hammer for more than a few minutes. I agree that Koivu may not be a great captain. I think he needs to be a co captain. And just so everyone knows, I wouldn't be bothered if he wasn't re signed. I just think he is in a role more like Breeze was. A little higher than his abilities at his stage in his career. but this whole tangent of yelling at Koivu (who, btw has 7 or 8 points in his last 7 games) and blaming him for Carbo's experiments is a little silly. Carbo made crazy decisions often, and they didn't work. Gainey thinks this team is better than they are playing. I don't know if that is true or not anymore, but something had to change. Either that or rebuild again. I wish Carbo luck. I think his firing was premature. His record is great, but he didn't seem to have the tools to get the team out of a whole. (Flyers and this year) The players should know how to do this, but knowing the other team's system and guiding players to adjust is the coach's job. It is too common to link ideas and rumour and state them as fact. Koivu whines to management. Is that a fact? How do we know this? Did we read it in a blog?
  18. That was a scary game. I had money on that one. All the Oilers fans here have been driving me nuts. I was hoping for a blowout, but I'll take the 50 bucks and tell them all their team sucks! I love how the top two lines played in the first and third. Wasn't impressed with D'ago. I hope Pacioretty is on the Kovy line next game.
  19. I wish Koivu could stay and be a co captain. He is a very hard worker and can still play. I think that we need a true #1 centre and Koivu needs to co captain with Komisarek if he stays next year. As for Kovy. I will reserve my judgement. He can go from frustrating to elite like flipping a switch.
  20. That is the most important thing to me. If you are a librarian or an NHL coach. You should try to speek the language. I went to Montreal for a week last year, and tried very hard to communicate in French. It was extremely hard, because while I could understand enough to follow what was being asked, my vocabulary is now so weak that I am unable to get my point across in even the most primitive way. Having said that, I still think that the best man should be hired, with the understanding that efforts will be made to speek French.
  21. Did Burns speek French? I can't remember. I'm trying to think of coaches who don't speek French that coached the Habs. I think that the best man for the job should be given the coaches position. I know the language is a priority, but I think that if people just understand that it is a distinct culture, and accept that someone doesn't speak the language, he should be aplauded for his efforts to speek it. Not made fun of for saying it wrong. I know this is the wrong venue for this conversation, but the topic has come up several times in thie thread. I agree with and support the preservation of French language in Canada. It is one of things that separate us from our neighbours to the south, but I do get iritated when someone is made fun of for trying to adapt and speek the language. This culture and demand is why we can't get top notch Anglo coaches.
