There is a reason Price has the most wins of all goalies in the league for his age. He started extremely young. 23 or 24 IS the age when goalies break into the league. 24 IS too young to back up an inconsistent starter. You need a vet backing up a kid. Look at the breakdown of the careers of Brodeur, Fleury, Luongo, and so many others and you will see that. I don't think it is wise to trade Halak and expect Cedrick to fill in for Price if he faulters. The reason that the Habs were so dominant for so many years is that they didn't have to do this sort of thing before. Thye left the talented guys in the minors and let them develope fully. I think Price, Max, SK, Dagostini could all have benifitted with some time in the minors. But especially Price.

This team has sucked since 95 MK1. I cheer for them. So I guess I have been celebrating mediocrity for 15years. I like good players. I am not a GM, so what they earn really means nothing to me. Get enough good players to entertain me and give me a reason to cheer for you. We traded Higgins for Gomez. Gomez is good. Cammy and Gionta came because of Gomez. I don't argue that he is overpaid, but it is what it is. It won't change. I personaly like the work ethic of our new core, way more than the last 10 years. The business side of sports tends to consume us. In the end if the team can afford it, great. You can say they can't and he is the reason and blah blah blah, but there are a at least 10 teams in the same position. Bob couldn't develope a top line C, so he went out and signed one. The best available was Gomez. That's it.

He has been our best forward lately. I am more impressed by Gomez as time goes on. Ignore the salary. It is moot. Just watch the player. He carries the puck from end to end and no one touches him. What this team needs is for the top two lines to actually be healthy at teh same time, and for the top 3 defense to actually be healthy at the same time. We still haven't seen that.

Halak is the better goalie right now. He is playing confident. I agree that he is playing the weaker teams. In fact, before Christmas, I broke down the stats showing that he has only beat one contender this year. Ottawa I think it was. Are they even a contender? But Halak is still making that save to keep them in. If he is traded, we may be sorry. I wish there was a way to keep Halak , Plek, and Price. I don't know if Sanford would be a good enough backup, and Dejardins (spelling) is too young. But, like someone said before, the team is no good the way it is, so why not make some trades? Halak's value is definitely higher. I still think we need a mobile right handed defenseman more than a top 6 forward. We have two top 6ers out and I realize Max and Dagostini aren't putting up numbers, but they are OK depth guys.

Lapierre played a hell of a game last night. It was so nice to see. Marky was great on both ends. When Gomez has wingers, he is fun to watch. He flies into the zone carrying the puck and finds the pass. I know his salary is crazy, but he is a good hockey player. Poor little Gio can't pass at all. Skate fast, dig in the boards, create turnovers, shoot! don't pass anymore. hahaha We gotta stay with Halak on Saturday.

Our prospects up front are pretty thin. Top 6 wise. At D, I think we have a wealth of prospects. This is also, where I feel we need the biggest upgrade. Subaan, Weber, Carle, and Belle all look to be close to NHL ready. Pyatt and White both impressed. If Max was having a year like last year, I would say we could call up one or both of these guys. As far as keeping Plek...good luck Bob!

Ya, this year Max is not looking so good. He is young though. I will reserve judgement on him until the end of next year. Hell I was willing to Lats another two years.

Do you realize that only 6 of the team's wins are against contenders? 6 out of 21 wins. We better hope the Islanders Florida, Tampa, and the Leafs all make the playoffs.

Honestly what is it about him? I loved him. I look for him when we play Ottawa. I want him back on the team. Even though he is inconsistent and stuff. To me Kovy was the face of the franchise for 5 years. But ya. definitely an enigma.

I was a nay sayer from the first announcement of the trade. I really liked Lats, but I am pretty impressed with Benny so far. I was also very impressed with Dags last year, so we will see in time, but so far, so good.

I thought Dags actually looked good on the last few games of the road trip. He looked pretty good with Metro and Moen playing against lower pairing defense.

Carboneau nailed it when he said that Cammy is not well rounded enough. He doesn't kill penalties or back check all that well.

Well he stood out in the third period yesterday. The kid was great.

You couldn't be more correct. Many of our losses were due to slow defense. last year our D was a little weak too, but they didn't get beat by the dump nearly as much. Dandy, Booboo were a million miles an hour faster than Gill and Mara. Also no right handers??? As far as dealing Metro, that's a tough one. He's a good depth guy. I would do it in a heart beat if we could find a true shut down C like Paullson though.
