  1. I don't understand why they're replacing DVDs with another form of disc. The only thing wrong with DVDs is that even the tiniest scratch can cause the disc to skip and freeze in the player. Are any other discs going to be able to avoid this drawback? I doubt it. I think they would be wise to devise some sort of device like a flash drive that has movies and extras on it. Probably wouldn't be very cost effective for another few years, but at least it wouldn't skip.
  2. 360 games are 60 bucks here, and I've read Sony will be selling PS3 games for 70 bucks. What even is the compeition against Blu-ray? I've been hearing about Blu-ray for years and have heard about the war they are in, but I have no clue what the competition even is. Blu-ray obviously has much better marketing.
  3. I'm talking about for the 360 and PS3, that's why I don't plan on getting a new system. Face it, getting Sony to use Blu-ray discs on the PS3 pretty much ensures that Blu-ray will win the battle to replace DVDs.
  4. I began playing video games on the Atari 7800, a classic gaming system. I still have it, but the controllers are pretty much worn out and don't work very well. When I was in about 2nd grade, I saved up all my Christmas, birthday, and first communion money and bought an NES. Blades of Steel and Tecmo Bowl, wow. In about 5th or 6th grade, I got a Sega GameGear for Christmas and used that sucker until it died. After a while, the power supply wouldn't stay consistent and kept messing up. Many an hour were spent on NHL 95. After 8th grade, I bought myself a PlayStation. I chose it over the N64 because it had a lot more games and I hated the N64 controller. NHL Faceoff Series on PS1 was awesome, commentary was better than EA's series, even still. NCAA Football from EA took the spot as my favorite game series, and it remains so today. After high school, I moved onto the PS2. Loved the fact that all the PS1 games and controllers worked on the PS2, a very smart move by Sony. Now, I'd have to stay I'm done with new systems. The prices are simply out of control. 70 bucks for a new game just isn't gonna cut it for me. I may pickup a used Gamecube at some point, as 3 of my favorite games are on that system: MarioKart Double Dash, Mario Super Strikers, and the best of them all, Super Smash Bros. Melee.
  5. -Why? Shootouts are lame and it's not like there aren't enough breakaways during regular gameplay. I'll take the Free4All over a shootout mode any day. -Who doesn't? -EA would have to buy the rights to use AHL players, and they aren't making enough money on the game to make buying those rights worth their money. They've already had to lower the price of their hockey titles trying to encourage more sales. -Again, why? If you want to practice PK, use practice mode. -Yuck, going around in circles for hours on end. -They already include classic jersies. The only one they don't have is the Whalers jersey, and that's because the team name and logo are owned by the city of Hartford, not the NHL. It would require extra money to be able to use the Whalers logo. -Because there are rules about how many men can be on the line of scrimmage. The only time teams ever use more than 5 down linemen is in goaline situations. If you want more offensive linemen, sub them in as TEs.
  6. Wow, this game is going under the biggest overhaul ever! http://ps2.gamespy.com/playstation-2/nhl-07/ "The golden age of console hockey returns when NHL 07 debuts with gameplay innovations that will allow players to feel like they are actually on the ice. Players take complete command over every movement on the ice without ever taking their hands off the analog sticks. A revolutionary new Skill Stick system is an intuitive gameplay scheme that delivers an unparalleled sense of on-ice speed and control. Using the left stick to direct the lower body, and the right to control the upper, gamers will reach a level of fluidity only experienced on the ice. Skate into the zone and glide around your defenders while bringing your stick across your body and drawing it back to fire a slapshot – all without touching a button. "
  7. :puke: Looks like the Stars are out as my 3rd favorite team.
  8. First of all, the Cap is 44 million: http://www.sportsline.com/nhl/story/9529390 Second, I'm ashamed of you people, hehe. This next link has been posted numerous times this offseason, yet you all seem to search all over the net for info that is right under your nose: http://habsworld.net/article.php?id=821
  9. That's why you put a water bottle in your bag.
  10. The more I look at it, the more I suppose you are right. I was thinking that the home and away part of the schedule pushed things to a 6 year cycle. Drawing it out in a diagram shows me I was wrong. You'd think that having majored in college I could have figured out the number of linear combinations without a stinking picture, lol. Still, it is possible for a team to have 4 seasons without visiting a particular city. That is far too long. The scheduling still stinks.
  11. HAHAHAHAH! Blaming golf for the fall of society. Thanks, I needed a good laugh!
  12. The sooner WW3 comes, the sooner Zefram Cochran can invent warp drive and make first contact with the Vulcans!
  13. It's not something like that, it IS that. Montreal plays the Central division on the road and the Northwest division at home.
  14. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=Avoj...p&type=lgns
  15. Were you expecting to play them more? With the unbalanced schedule, teams only play 10 games against teams from the other conference, 5 away in one division and 5 home in another.
  16. http://www.nhl.com/teams/mtl/schedule.html February 18, 2007: Montreal visits Columbus for just the 2nd time in history! Too bad they don't come back until 2012-2013.
  17. The system for RFA's pretty much assures nobody even sniffs around them. To get a guy like Gomez, teams are going to have to give up their 1st rounder for the next 3-4 years. Frankly, nobody is worth that many first round picks. Would you trade Latendresse, Kostitsyn, Higgins, and Komisarek for Gagne or Gomez? I think not.
  18. Good luck, man. I hope things aren't back to the way they were last winter.
  19. i.e. The whole thing on the native island that while very funny, had nothing to do with the rest of the movie. Maybe a 10 minute scene on the island would have made a great extra for the DVD, but it seemed out of place with the rest of the movie.
  20. For sure, he is really why the first movie was so enjoyable. It was a good movie and all, but Depp's performance was incredible. I've never really liked Johnny Depp, but he was AWESOME in the role of Captain Jack. He deserved the Academy Award for Pirates.
  21. I wouldn't mind him as a press-box player. I'd always rather have a marginal veteran than a young kid in the press-box. Don't like it when youngsters have to be in the press-box as emergency players, stunting their development.
  22. I laughed quite a few times, but the comedy didn't seem as natural as in the first movie. From what I've read, Johnny Depp really took control of Jack Sparrow in the first movie and a lot of the comedy was created by Depp. Now that the Jack Sparrow character has been better defined, the writers took control of the comedy rather than Depp himself. The whole thing on the native island was funny, it just kind of bothers me that it didn't have anything to do with the rest of the movie.
