  1. I guess I can scratch his name from the may be "captain material" short list... Really sad to see this happen to a talent that was showing signs of making it! He would have really made a difference in Hamilton and that would have got him a ticket back to Montreal as soon as we needed an injury filler. I hope this does not put a damper on big brothers game.. he needs to get things in gear again and this might derail that plan; :?- On a brighter note, Kyle's chances of finding his way back to the Big Team just improved. Chips needs to get healthy and prove he is a team player. I will bet that Chips is not the kind of player that would pull this kind of stunt! Go habs Go!
  2. 48-28-6 for 102points. This team will surprise. I just pray that it will be for the best! Go Habs Go!
  3. Our PP should have many weapons to choose from, the point shot will have a few extra cannons to fire! and our new snipers and playmakers show promise. Not having Kovalev's accuracy may hurt but I hope a more consistent and strong 1st and 2nd PP lines should counter the loss of Kovy's Skill.
  4. From the Coach, right down the line to the new batch, to the returning 4th liners. They all have something to prove. Each will play with a Chip on their shoulder. I'm predicting a strong start and an even more consistent season. Good things this year will come in great but albeit small sizes! Our system first approach will unite this squad and leaders will emerge. I'm past the surprises of this off season and looking forward to a new page in our beloved Canadiens history book! Go HABS Go! :hlogo: Top 3 finish to the regular season; they will surprise!
  5. Diago signed! (excellant), Chips, O'bryne and Price all part of the AHL championship team from Hamilton. They all have something to prove this season; Each of them had better show us that next gear and the wonderful chemistry they had winning the Calder Cup, now they belong in the NHL and they need to prove it on the ICE. GO HABS GO!
  6. Good for the habs and good for Plex; and great for the Cap, I hope.. avoiding salary arb was good. If you look at his three year record, he should have been worth at least 3.25 to 3.5Mil on the open market. We would have been forced to tie up more cash for a one year deal in Arb. So credit to Bob for getting it done. Now, Plex can Play for Pay, next season! He'll bounce back or he will be bounced outta here.. GO HABS GO! :ghg:
  7. any one see the new potter movie yet?
  8. actually I like the first five games on the road. it will give the team a chance to build an identity and build some chemistry before it puts the new edition of the habs for display infront of the home faithful...
  9. Begin... Kosto... two players who brought energy to the line up and gave it their all. Thanks for the memories... Just don't come back to haunt us! Best of luck
  10. I completely agree here.. Chips has the potential to bring amazing stability to a line and the team. He has proven he has great hockey sense and defensive qualities. He is all about leadership and team building. He did so brilliantly with the Bulldogs all the way to the Championship; witnessed it with my own eyes and I was impressed... But that's where it ends., he was not able to bring his game to a new level in the NHL. But lets give him a break, 13 games and a limited role on a team with leadership issues and utter confusion from one night to another, does not allow him to prove his capabilities or prove his abilities at the NHL level ( forming some sort of chemistry on a line/team takes time ). The team needs to give him a role that he can play up! That being said, he needs to bring his A game to the team, put on some size this summer, work on the skating which I have noticed is improving, play with authority and improve his faceoff's (at the NHL level) and step up and into the defensive role he is capable of... (even I agree he will not turn into a prolific 100 point scoring machine like my all time fav. Mats Nasland ) During the cup run and the AHL championship, he was Coach Lever's go to guy for a change in momentum or a good defensive checking line. He was great @ neutralizing the offensive line of the opponent and was absolutely solid in his own end. These qualities and many more that he poses, need to be realized in the NHL. Gainey has made it clear with a one year contract; Chips needs to prove it to the Canadiens and "himself" and this will be his year to deliver and I'm sure Chips has taken the challenge agreeing to the minimum for the team! He is a team FIRST kinda player and I hope his leadership will develop at the NHL level and for this edition of the Habs and be rewarded with his next contract. GO HABS GO!
  11. honestly, I'd buy him out and thank him for the memory! short as it has been... but I will buy the argument that its up to Martin; if he has a role for the Big Laq. then sure he stays but I really don't think he will last more than one month... the contract will need to be bought out or he may opt to retire.. :contract: :ghg:
  12. Colin, you slay me! And I love the point you are making bro. keep it going! :ghg: :ghg: :ghg:
  13. First of all Alexstream your the man! well said and nicely argued! Secondly I also vote to change the title of this post! may I suggest a new title.. "Mission Impossible 6: Bob Gainey Cleans up!" or " Did Bob Gainey accomplish his mission? "
  14. Dr. Bob make it so! now this would be a wonderful surprise! let the man finish his career with the habs! in terms of size he certainly fits the team measurements. Go HABS Go!
  15. I'm all for signing a home town player, if the player is talented and skilled and fits in the system of the team. The above argument would be valid if this was the PHL (Provincial Hockey League); but sadly its not! its the NHL (National Hockey League); Where all nations are represented and encouraged to play together. Here is a better argument! why not lobby the Quebecois players who are talented and skilled to accept a hometown DISCOUNT and make every effort to lobby the team so that they can come back home and play for their hometown! The problem here is not the owners or management its in many respects the players who are so very talented without doubt, simply want to play where ever they can get the cash! And in today's National hockey market can you blame them? I personally would play for my beloved Canadiens for free! Only problem with that option is that I am not french Canadian nor am I a talented player. But I love Montreal, home is where the heart is... Go Habs Go!
  16. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooo! maybe. as if I wasn't surprised already. this would really put me over the top! I just hope he will join his brother... Go MINNY Go!
  17. can this day get any worse.. yep! ok... so the Sens are going to smack us around on the powerplay and the leafs get to smack us around the ice. More reason for us to make sure we put a solid product on the ice in October! GO HABS GO!
  18. Seems to me that everyone from the new coach, to the new line, to the kids, they all have something to prove! I predict this team will surprise, just as Dr. Bob has surprised us all! We will finish first! And take it all the way to the final! Anything less will not be a surprise! :lool: :ghg:
  19. Excited for sure! Ready to see what our new Coach and New Top Line will do! Looking forward to how the kids will develop and who will come to Camp and earn a spot on the big club. :ghg: :ghg: :ghg: GO HABS GO!
  20. sorry everyone, but I'm still a bit dizzy with the complete change in the chemistry of this team. I'm almost certain the C will be given to Laps, Gommy will get an A and I like the suggestion of Gorges or Markov for an A too. On a long shot, I'd like Chips to give it a good effort this year. Make the team out of camp and show some leadership; We all know he has it in him to lead and its time for the kids to step up!
  21. according to sportsnet. Dr. Bob has another 4mil to spend under the cap on a 7th D-man. Dr. Bob is not done yet! The surgery continues... I like Spaceman, Gills, Gommy, Giggy, Cammy Go Habs Go! - goodbye wish to all the x-habs! :ghg:
  22. what? five years at 4.5MIL? why couldn't we afford that? :nono: the leafs just STOLE Komi!
  23. Please Komi, hold out for 6 MIL per season and eat up the Leafs CAP space.. :contract:
  24. holly molly, Komi is a leafer.. tsn says the details are in the works... damn!
  25. not sure about Gill's. or Space-man!
