  1. Ok someone needs to do some research on this kid. How did everyone miss him in the draft? How did the Habs pick him up without any other jumping on him? From first impressions; he looks like a steal. Where were the scouts on this kid? Was he even rated? anyone ?
  2. Duvel and Fritten.. hrm.. hrm.. good! Funny labels? didn't have time to read any funny labels.. too busy drinking.. excuse me while I go get another.. GO HABS GO! Smoke em if you got em! GO HABS GO!
  3. rofl! hrmmm.. Smoked Ham Love it! GO HABS GO! add this to our current roster of PUTIN! (aka la Russians!) and we have a great 7pm game time show for dinner! this coming season. GO HABS GO!
  4. Shelly's days are numbered... I'm pumped about landing the Hammer! GO HABS GO! p.s. too bad we can't get our "STUD's" to breed. GO HABS GO!
  5. The same thought went through my mind when I saw the smol post. At that price I don't mind the signing. Chips will need another half year at least before he is ready... But next season he will need a NHL spot. GO HABS GO!
  6. What is everyone smoking? Hammer! is a first round draft pick! 1st overrall! Granted he is not stud he once was, but since 2000 he has put up a plus rating every season and is a solid 35+ point man. He's big at 210, 6'2"; what a pickup! I had no idea he was available, let alone willing to come to Montreal! Given our approximate tax rate he will end up seeing only half of that per year salary. He would have been able to bank way more if he decided to go south. I'm happy as a kid in a candy store... this is the kind of signing that Gainey can take to Koviu and say; "I"m trying to build you a winning team to compliment..." GO HABS GO! Na na na na Na na na na Hey hey hey.. Hammer TIME! GO HABS GO!
  7. Chris, I do agree with your comments as well. You are correct; our core does need a shake up of sorts. I have the feeling that BG will give them one more kick at the can this coming season (good or bad he may not have a choice here). But it will be reasonable to assume that big time changes will be considered by the end of the first quarter, if things remain the same. The only question here is can he make those changes.. who will trade with us and will it make a difference? At this point or a quarter into next season, I do not have any hope for attracting any proven talent. And we will end up having to take a risk on a player, my fear is that it may turn out like the Sammy affair all over again... For what ever its worth... I will stand by my beloved habs. GO HABS GO! I'm done with the UFA market... Lets get to the rookie training camp... I want to see what kinda shape PRICE will be in... thank God for our baby habs winning the Calder cup in Hamilton; I just keep them in my mind and feel better about our future prospects they are looking bright!
  8. The league has fallen off into the deep end of the pool. Why is everyone selling their soles to get players at such high prices? I for one am happy that Gainey did not spend our cash on high priced non-talent! The fact is that at the right price some of these players that were signed made sense; but not at these levels! NO NO NO NO! Thanks but no thanks. Lets keep our core together; add a few from Hamilton; and pickup a key player or two via a trade. We will still be in better shape than any other team in the league. I'm certain that Gainey will not bend to the whinnying of rabid fans who just want a signing to say we did act on UFA day. Those who do not understand the level of panic under which each of these teams are making moves will understand come the season. Buffalo is weaker today better for us! Islanders do not have their core anymore! The league is looking watered down and there will be more parity than ever. So the rangers overpaid and have a truck load of talent! So WHAT! I've seen them do that constantly, only to fall into the shitter! I for one liked what the rangers did in getting the players they did but not at that price! Glen must be drinking too much NY water. Lets see what happens when the dust settles. And we hold the cash to spend and have the talent in youth to trade and then we shall see who comes out looking like roses... I'd rather stink up the league with cheap talent than with high paid, over priced, washed up, good for nothing, no heart players! (all except the likes of RYAN) now theres a player I would have given a pretty penny to land him and only him; too bad he choose COL over the HABS! And there is no one to blame but ourselves and the media for players not wanting to come to MONTREAL. Taxes are too high; Media is too f***ed; fans well; well except for the boo birds, I'm sure the league loves our fans; who pay to sellout the game every night and understand the game and are great in their support. There is no doubt the Sammy story will remind players and agents of what to expect if things go bad in Montreal. So things like that must end! and we need to start winning games and creating that passion for the love of playing in the greatest hockey city in the world. Then and only then will players be lining up to sign contracts in Montreal. ok... I feel better now. GO HABS GO!
  9. Not sure the price is right for me. Too costly to give up young talent for RFA. I'd rather trade straight up for players.
  10. ok. I just got through reading this post by the ESPN dude! and I must say that I was laughing through much of it! As a Canadian if you can't laugh at that blog then you may not be Canadian. Of all people in the world we sure are the best at enjoying a joke, even if it comes at our own expense. that blog was an expression of how an american see's the humour in our game of hockey and our draft day antics. its does mind you point out many short comings of the american media as well, but thats for another thread. I will give him kudo's for the hits on the commish and janet! again a little humour never hurt anyone. unless its done with intent to hurt! in which case it only threaten the writer not the reader or the ones being made fun of...
  11. I've a big Kovy fan and Ryder fan; but the status quo will not work. One way or another, BG will be making changes to bring a different mix into the lineup. This could be an entire attitude change or a change in faces. Attitudes will not be given as much time to adjust. If they don't produce they will be gone and/or replaced. I like Easy Ryder's comments on Kovy being attractive at his current price range. But if he does turn a corner next season and produces that contract would look like gold to us too. Either way, Bob will not let things become status quo like last season. He promised Koviu to bring the team up as a contender. GO HABS GO!
  12. good. I think. qualifying offers is one thing. but our need at center for a quality #1 is still a wish on my list.
  13. yes indeed! you all know exactly what this means... we HW fans actually may have a chance of one day being drafted and eventually play for the HABS! ok... time to wake up from my own little dream world... GO HABS GO!
  14. Everyone who wants to complain about Bob; must first prove to me that they are as qualified to clean the muck off his shoes before I'd listen to them. I'd like to see them pull off what Bob did picking price when everyone laughed and said he was off his rocker; now where are the nay sayers. Don't tell me that you know what is best after having a few pints and sluring your english into french. Give me a break! The world does not revolve around french canadian players. Granted if there were any talented players to be picked when it was our turn then sure. The reality is we did pick the best and anyone who doesn't think so can go jump into the lake. In BOB we trust everyone else can go bust! GO HABS GO!
  15. Lets trade Pedneault! And the french media that even try to speak out of their asses..! Good pickups by Bob and Habs Scouts. Lets see who else they pick! GO HABS GO!
  16. I'm not sure if this kid is even on Bob's radar.. but he sure is on my list of players I'd like to pick... So I'll go with Brandon Sutter. Go HABS GO!
  17. Very Happy for Craig. He deserves to be happy and get paid! The man is a leader and will always bring it into very game and every shift. Wish him only the best in SJ.
  18. I'm the first person to insist on the right of everyone to their own opinion. And my opinion is that your absolutely wrong! I will give you credit for starting a thread that certainly got everyone talking during a period when everyone is going through an emotional low point. However, there is no credibility in your argument. When you try to attack an individual who has established himself as brilliantly as Koivu has your bound to fail in that argument. He is an outstanding hockey player; an asset to the city of Montreal; an ambassador for the game and a true, passionate , honest and courageous gentleman. I would take a team full of Saku's ( and Carey Price in net ) any day over what ever you want to offer me. Try again. GO HABS GO!
  19. Truely enjoyed reading that... Brilliant! Almost inspired!
  20. He's done well this past season given the hurdles he faced. The summer has been brilliant! so far. I'll give him a B+ only because he has not delivered that #1 center for me. I will wait for the UFA market and draft to further his rating. However, if this trend continues; I imagine my rating for him will increase to an A+ as well. GO BOB GO! GO HABS GO!
  21. Two things... There has been talk on the local radio stations in southern ontario that the NHL's rule on the "KM rule" goes against the competition laws of Canada. The NHL cannot prevent businesses from competing in area by implementing rules like the "KM rule". Second., apparently there is another option for Balsilly.. there may be an option in the contract with Nashville that will allow the team to be moved if a penalty fee of around 27Mil is paid. I"m looking to find a credible link to these stories... if anyone else can confirm this please do... ok.. here is the link for the opt out clause that could take the team out of Nashville with just a 27mil dollar payment. http://www.570news.com/news/topstory/artic...615_174209_4376
  22. love it! and we better get used to this... Gainey is on a serious march towards returning this storied franchise into a taste of its glory days. We will be celebrating in big ways, our 100 year anniversary is just around the corner. Cool Hand Bob! will be a big part of that celebration. GO HABS GO!
  23. NO free agents from this years crop, will give us the missing piece that is keeping us from being a real contender. OPTION B is what I'd pick; but with a twist. If I can pull the trigger on a trade anytime between now and October to bring home a player that we need; I will do it! GO HABS GO!
  24. Gainey has yet again done something that all of us here never expected. Honestly how many of us could have pulled this trade off in our wildest imaginations? The majority of us expected a buyout. There is something to be said for brilliant intelligence. Bob has it in spades with this move. I am so excited for the next three weeks. All these moves have left the habs in a great position financially and positionally on the ice; to sign/trade and make a big splash on Draft day and/or after July 1st. And if Gainey continues to prove himself in this manner, we are in for a treat! GO HABS GO! IN BOB WE TRUST! everyone else can go BUST! GO HABS GO!
  25. phew! that was close. for just a moment I thought that maybe I missed something this season and the leafs had actually become a better team. Jetsniper, you scared me there for just a moment
