  1. I'll take a point per game center, former MVP, who is huge, regardless if he hates the Habs. It's not like he wouldn't try while wearing le blue blanc et rouge. If he had to waive a NTC, then that is a different story.
  2. I wonder what it would take to get Joe Thornton from San Jose? There's a chance they might make a trade or two in the off season to shake things up. I would offer them Plekanec, Kristo and a 2nd round pick, throw in Weber if need be. They probably wouldn't do it but it wouldn't hurt to try.
  3. I just noticed this thread and I'll add my pre-playoff predictions. Vancouver in 6 San Jose in 7 Nashville in 6 Phoenix in 7 NYR in 6 Was in 7 NJ in 5 Pitts in 7 It doesn't look too good for some of my picks
  4. With Yakupov presumably going #1, I wonder what the chances are of Columbus selecting Galchenyuk at #2? They will be moving Rick Nash more than likely in the off season so they will like to get a high impact forward prospect to replace him. They are probably a bit weary of selecting Russians from past failures so that would mean Grigorenko may not be their first choice. I really hope that they pick Murray and leave us with Galchenyuk. Edit: Ooops, wrong thread
  5. Even though our Habs are getting a head start on the golf season, I'm sure we are all still watching hockey. I figured that I'd make a thread where we could discuss what is going on in these playoffs, which have been really entertaining to watch so far. It is quite different being able to sit back, relax and just enjoy the games as a hockey fan, without the nervousness of cheering for the Habs. One thing that is apparent in these playoffs is the lack of penalties. Has anyone heard the word "obstruction" used lately? On any given shift I can count a handful of supposed calls that are just ignored. The blatant no calls are just laughable at times. And aside from the PItts/Phil series, goals seem hard to come by. Things are so tight out there that it is reminiscent of the pre-lockout days. Until our Habs get some nastiness in the lineup, I think it's fair to say that we wouldn't stand a chance. So who does everybody like to win it all? Especially with Van and Pitts down 0-3, it really opens things up. I had a Pittsburgh vs Nashville cup final before it started. I like San Jose as well, I think alot of people are underestimating them. The Rangers are going to be tough to beat in a 7 game series, they are built for the playoffs. Either way, it's been exciting to watch so far and I hope it continues.
  6. I'm going for Nashville, they are a good little hockey town and they have Gill, the Kostitsyns and Bouillion.
  7. I said that months ago but nobody quotes what I say.
  8. Come on man. There's a difference between a prediction and wishful thinking. Montreal is staying put at #3.
  9. If I am Edmonton, someone has to blow my socks off with a trade proposal for me to trade the #1. Yakupov has been the consensus #1 all year and to be able to add that to an already potent group of young forwards is amazing. I don't think we are going to be trading up.
  10. The guy was so contradicting in this press conference. He is only interested in building a championship team not simply making the playoffs, but yet didn't trade MacArthur for a 1st round pick. Reimer is the "real deal" but yet tried to make a trade for a goaltender. He would put Phaneuf's leadership up there with anyone. His top 6 defensemen he would put against anyone but yet when questioned why they were near bottom in goals against, it isn't the defense's fault. He agreed that he and Wilson had different on ice philosophies but yet he "did a great job" with what he had. And that Carlyle basically needs new players to play his way. When Burke first came in I thought he did a decent job, but looking over his body of work and where they still are, it's absolutely terrible.
  11. At least I guessed that Kostitsyn would get traded.
  12. I have a feeling we will drop down to 4th. It's been that kind of season.
  13. The more I read about or watch Galchenyuk, the more I want him on the Habs. Either way, it's exciting to have such a high draft pick.
  14. You would think Subban would jump at the opportunity to play. I think it would be great for his development.
  15. 15 is my number for everything. It's so sleek and sexy.
  16. It was more so me wondering why he got traded. However, you cannot take away the fact that he is playing with the leading assist man in the league. I think that speaks volumes about his ability and adaptability, as much as a reflection about our former GM's poor asset management.
  17. Let's all fantasize for a moment. The Habs hire Pat Brisson as their new GM. He makes two of this franchise's most important decision in years by hiring a new coach and selecting a top 3 pick. The Habs improve and are in the playoff mix this time next year. Then on July 1, 2013, he signs his former client Mr. Sidney Crosby. Habs fans rejoice around the globe. But seriously, the guy has a TON of contacts around the league and is obviously a great negotiator. Wouldn't be a bad selection if you ask me.
  18. I was watching the Canucks game last night and couldn't help but notice Maxim Lapierre flying around the ice playing on the top line with former MVP Henrik Sedin. Now I know it is just filling in for the injured Daniel, but the guy didn't look out of place one bit. And then he goes on and seals the deal with a dandy move in the shootout. The guy has size, speed, grit and the aforementioned hands. He can play center and wing, in a scoring role or in a shutdown one. Now my question is, why again did we trade him for the proverbial bag of pucks? Was it one of those "addition by subtraction" moves? He sure would of helped our team this year and also moving forward. His name is rarely brought up in bad trades this team has made and I think he is a good asset to have.
  19. Terrifying is the word that comes to mind when considering McGuire for Habs GM.
  20. I could of sworn this same Kaberle conversation already happened a few times involving Habs29 vs the world. It's apparent that nothing that anybody says to him will ever change his mind. To get back to NHL entry draft discussion, let's all just pretend that Kaberle is a loser, he is more than happy to be a loser and brings absolutely nothing to a team. So does anybody think there is a chance that we trade our draft pick for anything? Whether it be to move up or down in the draft or for an already established star?
  21. Who is this Lindstrom that everyone is talking about?
  22. Roy is a winner and will do anything to win. I want him on my team.
  23. I don't think it is necessarily the "big body" center that we have coveted for so long, as it is the clear cut "number 1" center. At least that is my my opinion. Ideally it would be a combination of the two but it would be nice to know unequivocally who our top center is going into a season. Plekanec, Eller, Desharnais and Gomez do not fill the requirement, no matter how you spin it.
  24. And so begins our interesting off season.....
  25. There is your crazy person. Nobody in the world has ever used "Darche" and "fantastic" in the same sentence... ever.
