  1. Temporary changes at Twitter because they didn’t want to pay Google $1b for their server rentals. Verified users can see 6000 posts and replies per day. Regular accounts can see 600 posts and replies per day. Without an account you can see 300 per day. The big change you’re taking about is embedded tweets can’t be seen unless your logged into Twitter with the browser you’re looking at the forum on. These embedded tweets count against you’re daily limits too. If you’re not logged in, or over your daily limit, you won’t see tweets linked in any forum. It’s probably better for these forum if you screenshot a tweet and post it in here as a picture until these measures by Twitter is lifted, but that’s just my opinion.
  2. There's a scrimmage being streamed on Twitter, Youtube and Twitch now. I don't have the Twitter link, with Twitter's changes it's not worth linking Twitter until they reverse it . https://www.twitch.tv/canadiensmtl
  3. I thought I had a decent idea of how LTIR worked, obviously I don’t fully understand it. How is Toronto $8m over the cap, with $5m in LTIR and still have $3m usable cap space according to CapFriendly?
  4. A pure cap dump without giving up a sweetener and getting a return. I think we all expected there to be salary retention, even if he was traded last year. Better than a buyout, cap hit is only there for this season. Win/win. Let’s hope if there are any more trades that they keep one retention slot open for Monahan at the deadline. With a cheap contract and the ability it retain on it, he could fit on any contending team for nearly no cap hit. An injury free season should fetch a nice return.
  5. Capfriendly is reporting it to be $825k.
  6. I hope they revisit acquiring Askarov. I know it's a long shot, but Anderson, Dvorak, Hoffman and young D are things Nashville need. I'm not saying they have any interest in any of those roster players except Anderson. The biggest question mark in the prospect pool, as any prospect pool, is goaltending. Would be nice to have another swing at a highly touted goalie prospect.
  7. I agree with the extremely healthy pipeline of D. I would just caution thinking they have 3-4 first pairing guys. I think realistically we all should be thinking they have 6-7 NHL caliber defencemen, of which 3-4 potential top-4 and hope at least 1 develops into a true first pairing guy. I have a feeling that a couple of the defencemen that played last season won't be with the team in October. Edmundson aside, I think one or more of the rookies may be traded for a winger or RD or possibly a goalie.
  8. I think you may be reading more into that comment than you realize. Reinbacher is RHD and Hutson is LHD, like Guhle. The only was Hutson is on the 1st pair is if he develops much better than Guhle or Reinbacher develops into a 1st pair stud shutdown guy.
  9. Read a rumour that Nashville offered the 15th, 24th and Askarov for the 5th. If this rumour it true, let’s hope Reinbacher is the real deal.
  10. By every scouting report I’ve seen Michkov is the second best player in the draft, talent-wise. I’m glad Montreal didn’t pick him. With him signing in Russia, I believe there’s legitimate concern that once that 3-year deal is up he may just stay in Russia. Then nearly any other player is a better pick.
  11. Read a couple of days ago that if Michkov falls to 5th, Washington would make a push to get the pick.
  12. Wifi is too big for Lucic to want to fight. He might fight Gallagher or Caufield though.
  13. Doubtful he's part of a trade to Winnipeg. Winnipeg has accepted LA's offer enough to grant LA permission to negotiate a contract with Dubois. Seems pretty much a done deal unless the contract negotiation breaks down, which at this point is reported to be 8x$8.5m.
  14. I would say very doubtful since the LA trade for Dubois is in the contract negotiation stage.
  15. There's currently 6 roster centers. Even if Dach shifts to wing, which I don't think is a great idea, and Newhook moves to wing as Commandant pointed out he also plays, it still leaves 4 roster center with no room for young centers unless there's an injury. This doesn't guarantee a trade, but usually teams try to use their excess to fill gaps. The RD and wings are weaker. Seeing as the goal seems to be the playoffs this year, they need to shore up some holes. I don't believe this would mean drafting a winger as @IN THE HEARTS OF MEN suggested. The only real winger worth drafting at 5th is Michkov, if still available, but loading up on centers now won't have much of an effect when Michkov could potentially be in the NHL in 3 more years.
  16. The fact that it was reported about 8 hours ago and there hasn’t been an announcement says it’s far from a done deal. If the contract for Dubois was the holdup, typically teams are given permission to negotiate with the player before the trade is done. I don’t think Dubois wants to commit long term to LA, making his value more complicated. This is just my opinion though, no actual facts behind it.
  17. Right now It appears to be Dubois and Harkin for Vilardi and Iafallo. I'm not sure what the holdup is, I'm assuming the contract extension.
  18. I haven't seen anything about a 4 team list. There are speculations of LA, New York Rangers and Boston in the mix with his desired destination of Montreal. This is an interesting situation where a RFA has nearly tanked his value and it's not really about his play on the ice.
  19. Darren Dreger is reporting Montreal said they won’t be extorted in a trade for PLD and is willing to wait until next year and he is an UFA. Probably posturing, but if PLD wants to really be a Hab, his contract decisions, rather lack thereof, this off-season will dictate how serious he wants to be a Hab. Let’s see if both parties will be willing to wait. Sucks for Winnipeg though, takes all bargaining power away.
  20. It was reported by Gascon of radio Canada and confirmed by Basu of the Athletic.
  21. Sounds like Montreal is aggressively trying to trade up to #4, and has even called Anaheim about the #2 pick. Sounds like they are interested in Will Smith at #4.
  22. Wasn't he on the 2nd PP last year when he did play?
  23. I wouldn’t buy out Hoffman. The amount of savings Montreal would get is minor compared to a trade while retaining salary. At 50% it’ll cost Montreal 900k more to trade and have no cap hit beyond this year. Hoffman at $2.25m has enough value that there wouldn’t need to be a sweetener to trade him. I would prefer they kept him and traded him at the deadline as well. There’s a chance he could have a bounceback and have a better return.
  24. I doubt the offersheet situation is even a concern. I would bet on the offersheet to be under $8.58 AAV as above it would be 2 firsts, a second and a third round pick, while under would be a first, second and third. As pointed out, if he accepts an offersheet, Winnipeg can match. They don't necessarily have to keep him either. As now he has a contract therefore a very stable value. With a contract, especially a multi-year contract, Winnipeg can get better value than a first, second and third. Not to mention the picks would likely be from a current bubble or playoff team making them mid-to-late round picks anyway. If the offersheet is 8x8.5, for example, Winnipeg could easily get a top prospect, a roster player and a pick/prospect/roster player for Dubois alone.
