  1. Marc D'Amico was reporting the expectation is $3.5m-$3.8m on a "short-term" deal. He used Vanecek out of New Jersey, Gustavsson out of Minnesota, Georgiev out of Colorado, and Jarry out of Pittsburgh as compatibles. From that list alone, I would expect the number to be in the $3m-3.5m range as all of the above goalies are getting more starts than Montembeault.
  2. That's a great trade for Edmonton. I don't see much value for Montreal. Kovacevic is developing well, Ceci is what he is. I'm assuming something else would be coming with Ceci, but I doubt it'll be anything of substance. Even if the idea is Ceci to trade next year and a prospect, I think Kovacevic is more of what Montreal wants. The only real consideration would be if the prospect is called Bougault or Petrov.
  3. The proposed trade was: Draisaitl and Foegele for Ullmark, DeBrusk, Poitras, Lysell and a 2026 1st rounder The original tweet with the idea: hhttps://x.com/Buccigross/status/1720412424795226157
  4. The whole Ullmark inquiry was a mock proposal by a sports writer that has Draisaitl going to Boston. Every reference I’ve seen to that idea refers back to that mock proposal. It has no teeth, so to speak, outside of that. Also, it make very little sense for either team to trade Ullmark for Draisaitl. Draisaitl is just as untouchable in Edmonton as McDavid is. Binnington is realistically the most reasonable suggestion I’ve seen. It’s no secret that St Louis has been trying to move him since at least last season. That trade would be Campbell plus for Binnington.
  5. Is it just me or in the few starts Primeau has started, there's signs of a decent goalie there, much more than last season.
  6. I'm afraid I'm not following this. If I'm wrong below, please let me know why because I really don't understand why it wouldn't work. Pickard goes to Bakersfield with Campbell and Rodrigue, saving $627k. Campbell doesn't play often, all reports is he will be bought out. Foegele ($2.2m) plus a two-way contract, say Lavoie ($719k) goes to Montreal. The savings for all 3 is $3.5m compared to the $3.1m coming in from Allen. Edmonton actually increases their available cap space by about $400k. I was just working on cap space. As for value the two-way contract going to Montreal could be changed as long as it's a roster player for Edmonton, other than that any non-roster player or picks could be exchanged to even it out. As for Montreal needing a goalie in return, they are shopping a goalie because there's 3 on the roster that won't clear waivers. So I'm confused as to why Montreal would be looking at Pickard in return.
  7. Edmonton can trade Foegele any other two-way roster player for Allen and it should work cap-wise. With the savings from Campbell about $1m, Picard no longer on the NHL roster, $2.7m (closer to $2.2m prorated) from Foegele, they are about $500k from making it work. Hence a two-way roster player. They are carrying 14 forwards according to cap friendly, so no need to worry about a callup. Foegele is on an expiring contract as well. This trade would be more about the two-way contract player than Foegele for Montréal. Currently Lavoie, Holloway could fit the money aspect and some or all of the value, Holloway more so. Montréal could target Bourgault as the value piece of the trade too and take any two-way contract from the roster.
  8. Least surprising thing you’ll read all day. Oilers have fired Woodcroft.
  9. While discussion goaltending options for the Oilers, Chris Johnson said “Like, you know, Sam Montembeault, not going to be extended.” I haven’t seen anything other than this suggesting he wasn’t being extended.
  10. Rough first goal to give up. Montembeault could of played the angle better, but that was a great tip.
  11. The word last summer was Holland turned down the idea of an extension for GM. Instead at the time there were rumblings of him getting moved somewhere else in the organization and the Oilers looking for a new GM at the end of this season. I'm not sure where that stands now.
  12. Something is going to happen soon. They just lost to SJ in regulation to claim sole position of last. Not a good look for a cup favorite at the start of the season. I doubt Woodcroft is the head coach in 24 hours. There has to be a goalie move somewhere in the next week or they're writing off this season.
  13. Benching a player sets up accountability. He's a first overall pick, not Wayne Gretzky. There's been talk of shipping him to the AHL all season. First step is benching, see how he responds, next is a healthy scratch, see how he responds, then send him down. It's all stages of development. It's showing St. Louis is holding players accountable for their play, which is nothing but a good thing.
  14. I gotta say, Montreal's defense is a work in progress, but they did look fairly well tonight. Primeau didn't have to bail them out often from the 2 1/2 periods I saw.
  15. Primeau could of covered the corner a little better, but that was a hell of a shot. He could take that same shot 10 times and only hit it once.
  16. I missed most of the second, saw that someone scored to make it 2-0 Montreal, started to actually watch with about 3 minutes left after something happened with a Detriot goal and it's 1-1? What did I miss?
  17. I doubt that "development" had anything to do with the Habs. After watching the video, it kind of reminded me of the Kostitsyn brothers rumours of being associated with the mafia. Absolutely no idea if they had any truth behind them, but they were out there.
  18. Calgary probably would entertain a trade, but not for 2 cap dumps.
  19. Bourgault is having a better year in the minors this year. He's their best prospect not in the NHL. RW with high offensive upside.
  20. What was Matheson trying to cover all by himself in the slot on the Paul goal? Brutal coverage.
  21. Tampa Bay Lightning Montreal Candiens Hagel - Point - Kucherov Stamkos - Paul - Sheary Motte - Cirelli - Barre-Boulet Jeannot - Glendening - Watson Hedman - Cernak Sergachev - Raddysh de Haan - Perbix Tomkins Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield Newhook - Dvorak - Anderson Pearson - Monahan - Gallagher Pezzetta - Evans - Armia Matheson - Harris Guhle - Barron Xhekaj - Kovacevic Allen Projected lineups as per NHL.com.
  22. It's $1.15m, but Pickard is coming up, so the net savings is $384k. Still makes no sense to me.
  23. I just saw that myself. They are either calling up Rodrigue, or more likely, trading for a goalie. As they are only carrying one goalie, if it is a trade, it’ll be announced in the next 24 hours or less to allow for travel time. Edit: Seravalli is reporting they are calling up Pickard. This makes no sense, Campbell is being replaced by a minor league goalie as punishment for Skinner’s play the last couple of games? I hope someone with a bigger hockey brain than me can understand this move as it only saves $344k in cap space.
