  1. Sami Vatanen is still unsigned. Would he be a good fit as a 7/8 D ? He shoots right and seems to be able to play 3rd pair minutes
  2. I like this signing, Perrault is a good bottom-6 player at a reasonable price. Wouldn't be surprised if it is MB's last UFA signing and the last move before the end of training camp when teams need to lock their NHL roster it is good to see the number of Quebequers on the team around the core we have. The role players on the 1993 team helped get the Habs over the hump. It is even better to see the competition for the bottom-6. Paquette said he would "go through walls" for this team Poehling and Caufield are still waiver eligible, and although they should be on the line-up next season, now they have to earn a spot during training camp depth chart is something like: LW: Toffoli Hoffman Drouin Byron RW: Gallagher Anderson Caufield (I know some have him higher) Armia C : Suzuki Kotkaniemi Perrault Evans/Paquette/Poehling
  3. We’ll see, I hope you are right If he is a legitimate top line NHL RW on a cup contending Habs team, TT should win a big bonus I am just reluctant to put all that expectation on him on his first 82 game season
  4. you are right, I forgot Evans. Right now we have this bubble team lineup: Toffoli-Kotkaniemi-Gallagher (2-way line) Hoffman-Suzuki-Anderson (Scoring line) Drouin-Evans/Poehling-Armia (cross your fingers and pray line) Byron-Paquette-Evans/Poehling (good checking/energy line) That leaves Caufield out of the lineup. He does not fir in the 4th line and he is not better than healthy Gallagher, Andersson or Armia. Not in the role those three players play
  5. I think the Habs still need a 3rd line center at worst, or a 2nd line center at best. Only available options are through a trade, unless Poehling surprises everyone Depth at center: Suzuki <TBD> Kotkaniemi Paquette They may bunp KK up and try Evans or Poehling at 3C, but that does not make for a cup contender
  6. so, are you up for a friendly bet? Sorry, thought you were ITHoM
  7. I'll take that bet. You are on. Over/under half the games next season? I say that if they play together it will be for less than half the games Looser posts that they were wrong and lost this bet
  8. wouldn't Suzuki be better served with Toffoli and Hoffman as his wingers? Caufield will be a successful 25-30 goal forward for years, but is he going to be that strong on his first full season?
  9. So, are we saying that Caufield has surpassed Gallagher as the top RW? Disn’t see the memo
  10. There is no one in the Habs roster that can shelter either one or replace their projected production. we’ll win and lose with those two
  11. Evans is not going to play top line minutes and generate 50 points this season ?! But Evans can replace Kotkaniemi on the third line and be an effective shutdown center The team's salary structure is still ok, but hockey success goes through a great season from Suzuki and Kotkaniemi
  12. My wife follows Julie Petry and Angela Price on social media. She enjoys that as much as I enjoy this forum
  13. That is a very good salary cap hit, Savard should Help get the Habs to the playoffs. At the trade deadline we need to get players that get the Habs through them
  14. My RHD UFA list is short, now that Barrie has re-signed with EDM (My preferences highlignted): (#1) D. Hamilton at no more that $7.5M/yr (#2) D. Savard at no more than $4.5/yr C. Ceci at no more than $2.5/yr (overpayment if desperate) If that fails, then I would resign one of: J. Merrill at no more than $1.5/yr (the cheapest option) (#3) E. Gustafsson at no more than $2.5M/yr
  15. He may be looking for term, knowing his NHL days are numbered given his lack of scoring and style of play
  16. very good interview, thanks for sharing
  17. but he did, lost his job and paid the price. Now he has probably another job somewhere but the victim, Wideman, he has to live with the consequences the rest of his life
  18. Let's hope he has learned from past mistakes: https://info.hockeyfeed.com/nhl-news/chris-wideman-discusses-leaked-uber-video-that-ruined-his-nhl-career
  19. Savard's stats are not that great, he seems to be be over paid and over played
  20. From the man himself, TT: https://www.nhl.com/canadiens/news/timmins-reflecting-on-the-picks/c-325801140
  21. waiting for the UFA getting started, I'll park my UFA wish list here. What I want most is to add a RHD: Ideally, one of Hamilton, Barrie, If that is not possible, I woud like them to bring back one both of these ubpopular choices: Merrill and Gustafsson But I would be ok if we got a depth RHD instead: Ceci, Poolman, Belpedio ==== Forwards? From the current UFAs with the club, I hope they bring back these three: Perry and Armia, Danault
  22. enjoyed that read, great job. B for the Habs is fair, and the F for Mailloux is harsh but deserved by MB. Thanks for being so active in this forum and give us a behind the scene to all the great work you do on LWOS.
  23. I thought he was mobbed, tarred and feathered
