  1. LOL 🤣 sad how it's funny The curse continues for the Habs. I mentioned a long time ago that I believe that the Habs are cursed since they moved to the Bell centre. They seem to get lots of these freakish catastrophic injuries to key players.
  2. they lose 4-2, team ran out of steam as the game went on. Opposition was too strong for them to handle
  3. If we believe this post, that 15 out of 20 goals allowed by Primeau this season were on his glove side, then it is easy to deduce that Allen is not being traded and that the coaching staff has lots of work to do
  4. now that you ask, it gives me a chance to share how much I like that draft pick by HughGort. It reconciles me with the universe Seeing him do well reminds me of Suzuki’s last OHL season and makes me excited for the future of the club. or more briefly: YES
  5. Some wonderful news about 😍 Beck 🤩 to start the weekend. i am happy!
  6. I liked the speed they showed in the first two periods. Similar to the speed they showed in CBJ Sloppy play, that eventually caught up to them. Too many blind passes and turnovers. Primeau had two solid periods. Anderson was flying. Gallagher looked good. Strubble co tinted to play well, he is still riding the high of his first call up. Evans is such a good defensive center. Ylonen is progressing on the 4th line like Lekonen before him. I disagree with St-Louis’s assessment that it was a good game, structurally they played like chickens without heads and the power play is aweful (in a year where he said he would make it his focus). His post-game interviews are useless, laconic and misleading . I wonder why the reporters do not challenge him more
  7. I despise Laraque's "insider" junk, he is still riding the coattails of his brief stint as a Hab.
  8. I would send down Harris to Laval before Xhekaj. Harris has the higher ceiling and he also needs to improve his offensive skills and his overall confidence. He needs to play top minutes in all situations. Xhekaj and Strubble are interchangeable 3rd LDs
  9. I liked the speed of the game even if sloppy. Habs défensemen are very mobile, even the call ups the team played the type of game I expected of them t hi s season Go Habs Go
  10. I watched parts of it, the game got out of hand for the Sens when DJ Smith challenged the second goal on an offside, and he lost; that led to the third goal. The team is very fragile, Brady was out there trying to raise havoc instead of playing hockey. Most of the team lost focus. I don't know if they switched goalies, but there were two goal I saw that were really sloppy. Talent wise, I think the Sens are on-par with the Habs. But mentally, they have not learned yet how to win as a team. It will be another lost season for them.
  11. I am surprised he it not doing better with Monahan, I would expect him to do this poorly with Dvorak who also lacks HockeyIQ/Vision. Having him play with Evans and Pezzetta is not a bad idea. I would try it to let him build on his board/physical play and to let all the frustration out: crashing the net and being an A*hole on the ice.
  12. I was going to post something similar, but opted for a more tempered post on how well Strubble is playing and hoping he can keep it up. I was impressed with Barron when he first came up, and had to temper my excitement once he fell back to earth. One thing is for certain, Harris will have a hard time making the line-up NEXT YEAR if everyone is healthy.
  13. Cap came in in 2004 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_salary_cap There was the strike when they changed it and introduced the salary floor just before MB came in: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Montreal_Canadiens_general_managers
  14. didn't the cap come after the Gainey era? I remember making the argument how two GMs later, it became an issue; but, if I remember correctly, the cap was not an issue in Gainey's time span
  15. Gainey is the one who brought the idea of rebuild on the fly. He inherited a garbage team and got them first to middle of the pack and then to "get into the playoffs and anything can happen".
  16. to be fair, he is the first GM to which Geoff Molson has given the mandate to rebuild. He didn't give that to the previous GMs
  17. and IMHO the absence of 2nd round picks for a long time where they may have picked up a "gem in the rough" to lessen the misjudged 1st rounders
  18. good points, I agree that selling for sake of selling and trading just because a player is valuable is not smart. There is a time to do them.
  19. Hi Chicoutimi Cucumber, I am replying to your post on the "By this logic" reply, but this is more to all that commented on my posts. My thinking is that prospects may be managed like a stock portfolio where you pickup as many assets considering the projected value that player may gain by the time he is ready to join the NHL roster. Of course, present value and current success is no warrant of future fit to the team's needs. Sometimes, teams may pickup the "best player available", sometimes they may pick based on "team needs", and sometimes they may take a "safe pick". or: "bluechip", "portolio-balancing" and "value" picks. In the case of a Kutcherov or Joshua Roy, those picks raised in value beyond expectations and need to be evaluated with regard to how they improve the NHL roster once they are part of it. In both cases, the cost spent on the pick (rank in draft) is much lower than what may be expected for the performance of players. In the case of Montembeault, the cost was "nil", and each of the wins he has provide to the team add to his value to the team. A decision needs to be made on how to best use that value and if it is better to sell high or to wait for him to turn into Budaj. That is my logic. === As for the proposed trade, I supported the person who posted the proposal as a trade I would make if the return helps the Habs get closer to winning a cup. But I have stated multiple times that my preference is to trade Allen even if it is for Camnpbell and some token prospect or pick.
  20. I don't have that hate for Quebec. I grew up in Montreal in the 80s and lived through the Good Friday brawl. I used to travel to Quebec often to visit my ex's family and it was fun to poke fun at each other. Quebec city has a wide basin of potential supporters, similar to Winnipeg from what I gather. I would like to see a franchise there instead of some insipid US city. Monty stole the game, Suzuki's line played well and, for his first game, Strubble played well.
