  1. good take on "David 😶 " I have pitched the idea of managing the roster as am investment portfolio, and in that view I could not agree more on having a mix of "growth potential" and "value" in the prospect pool. https://www.habsworld.net/2023/07/reflecting-on-the-reinbacher-pick/
  2. I liked this pick when he was drafted and although he has not "burned the league" where he has been playing, he has shown good potential at the world juniors. I am hopeful he becomes similar to a healthy Evans, minus the concussions
  3. Yes, obviously but it is hard to tell from all these signings how HughGort may prioritize AHL contracts vs prospects needing lots of minutes
  4. This is starting to get crowded, I hope the Habs use LVL better for development this season.
  5. just saying: I am very happy with the draft, the trades and the contracts. Hugh-Gort has done well this off season. I continue to say that I will not judge this team until the 2024-2025 season, I truly hope the injury situation is fixed an that Laval is used better for development in 2023-2024
  6. in table format and in no particular order (UPDATED, Thu July 13, 2023 ) AHL players under contract: LW C RW Heineman, LW/RW 21 yrs (UFA signing) Andersson, C/LW 24 yrs Bourque, LW/RW, Farrell, C/LW 21 yrs (UFA signing) Maillet, C 30 yrs J. Roy, LW/C 19 yrs Mysak, C/LW 21 yrs (needs waivers) Stephens, C 26 yrs Gignac, C/LW 25 yrs Mckay, LW 24 yrs (needs waivers) Condotta, C 25 yrs Mesar, RW 19 yrs (UFA signing, ECHL?) Novak, LW/C 24 yrs Kidney, C 20 yrs Parker-Jones, RW 23 yrs Simoneau, C 22 yrs Davidson, C 20 yrs Voyer, RW 24 yrs LD RD G (UFA signing) Paquette-Bisson. LD 26 yrs (UFA signing) Keeper, RD 27 yrs Primeau, G 23 yrs Norlinder, LD 23 yrs Laaouan, RD 22 yrs Dobes, G 22 yrs (needs waivers) Beaudin, LD 23 yrs Tourigny, RD 21 yrs (UFA signing, EHL?) Mann, G Galipeau, LD 26 yrs Mailloux, RD 20 yrs (ECHL?) Emond, G 23 yrs Struble, LD 21 yrs Trudeau, LD 20 yrs Qualified AHL RFAs: (NHL?, needs waivers) Ylönen, RW23 yrs unsigned AHL UFAs: Teasdale, F, Martel, LW Centorame, Bowey, D Sund, D Abbandonato, C Dello, Belzile, F (NYR) Richard, F (BOS) Allard, D (SHL), Lulea) Leskinen, D (FIN, Tappara)
  7. my guess is that some of the deals last year were also meant to increase the value of the team before the sale: having a more competitive team. Injuries played a big part in their season
  8. oh, yes, forgot to use a different maker for those potential going to the AHL, will update
  9. I am not a fan of their lineup, I still wouldn't hand the top-6 spot to Juraj yet : in my view, he has to earn it but would be fine on a 3rd line to start (Laval instead of 4th line if he struggles). I also would prefer for Baron to stay in the NHL if he wins a spot. I thought he played well most games late last season. If Barron earns an NHL roster spot, then one of Xhekaj or Harris should start in Laval to play lots of minutes. Here is my lineup, (*) means they are playing there because of Dvorak's injury: (?) means they may go to AHL if struggling: Monahan-Suzuki-Caufield Hoffman(*)-Dach-Anderson Slafkovsky(?)-Newhook(*)-Gallagher Pezzetta-Evans-HaveyPinard Ylonen, Armia Matheson-Baron(?) Guhle-Savard Harris-Kovacevic Xhekaj-Wideman I doubt this happens. But it is my way-to-early-roster-preference
  10. Wasn’t Trudeau really slow when drafted? If I remember correctly his skating was not great He may be fast enough for the NHL but unless he has improved a lot he may never graduate
  11. also, MSL seems to like playing wingers on the opposite side.
  12. that's my read on D too. I think Harris is a smart D with lots of potential but that may loose his spot to Hutson, for example, if Hutson becomes the player he is projected to be.
  13. I always like Vigneault too, couldn't win the cup but had some nice runs with different teams
  14. I agree, Has did a good job in finishing as low as they did. I was upset when it was reported that they may give assets to move up in the draft, I am glad they didn't. I expect them to finish in the bottom 10 next season, with a chance to squeak into the playoffs if the goalies are healthy all season and there is a catastrophic down-year from one of the other teams contending
  15. I agree with your points, but Arber was a Bergevin signing after the tryout .. his typical bottom of the barrel, pull a rabbit , kind of deal If we have Parker-Jones, McKey and other muscle men in LVL, I am ok with Wifi-II being given a chance. What concerns me is that Brovob and HughGort seem to be going after players they knew from Agent/NYR days more than newly scouted talent. I hope that trend vanishes

  19. Wideman is the perfect teammate to be on the practice squad and play the odd game while the prospects in Laval play lots of minutes.
  20. me too, I am happy... but you have the doubters out there:
