I’ll stand by my assessment. It wasn’t overturned until challenged. Reverse the jerseys and the bulk of Canada would’ve lost their collective gourds on the goal being disallowed. The second interference was obvious all day long. Both games were fun viewing today. great assist on the gwg by Roy. US/Sweden was a defensive/goalie nightmare, but fun to watch!

1st call was iffy, the outcome depends on which team you support. Canada scores and it gets called back on that play, there may have been a riot.

I don't think that playing 10 minutes/game on a line with Evans/Armia is necessarily the development path I would choose for Slaf, who seems to me like a Pacioretty draft pick. Patches, for what it's worth, stated he'd rather be top line in AHL vs bottom 6 NHL. I'm unsure of the reluctance to send Slaf to the AHL. There shouldn't be any negative optics around a 1st overall not being in the NHL (Owen Power?). If you trust in the development staff you've hired at the minor league level, then there should be no reason to doubt his development in the AHL. Of the top 7 draft picks in 2022, Slaf was the only one not to be at the WJC. Folks were losing their minds at Caufield being underutilized with Ducharme. It's the same story with Slaf and St. Louis. Either use him, or demote him.

What's interesting is that all goalies that are "small" that have been listed are not North American. All are also backups to bigger goalies. 6'3 to 6'5 will get their shot to be crappy. 5'11 will not. Anyway, sorry to derail into a goalie discussion. I've watched this tournament with more interest that I have in the past. It's been fun. Unless you're Austria...

Off the top of your head, name more than 3 NHL goalies 6' or under (I was even nice and didn't specify starting goalie). Size bias for skaters has evolved. For goalies it has not. I'm not bashing on Milic at all. There are very good, elite goalies that aren't 6'2" and up that will never get an opportunity due to their size. Look what Devon Levi has been doing at Northeastern, he has an opportunity to break the mold. If he was 6'4", he wouldn't have lasted until the 7th round.

Probably how he'll stay. Undersized goalies get no love.

Probably alone here, but that first interference call looked a bit iffy to me. Let's see if this one gets reviewed. Wouldn't be surprised if this is another interference/no goal, pushed his pad in. Canada - 4 US - 2 Refs - 2

GDT Game #33 - Montreal at Colorado 8pm est Wed. Dec 21

It happened right in front of us. It was a friendly fire shot that got him, and he immediately grabbed his wrist and doubled over. I watched to see if he went down the tunnel, but obviously he never did. Quick review, seat wise, we were a little more on the side of the corner than I would've preferred. I generally try to sit on the ends. As such, far zone play meant we had to watch the jumbotron. We were at the end for Richard's goal, and Rantanen's game winner. We were sitting directly beside the corner cameraman. The RDS guy kept getting ticked off at the ref for backing right in front of him. It was kind of funny, he'd bang on the glass like the ref was going to pay any attention. I did get a glare from Suzuki prior to face-off. -

I was surprised Drouin didn't leave the game. Took a shot off the left wrist. It looked like it bothered him quite a bit. -

Yes, we’re 2nd row in the corner. -

If you’re watching on RDS, you probably saw us after the Richard goal. RDS camera man is right in front of us. -

We've been very fortunate in previous games. A few years back, the equipment manager gave my son a Galchenyuk hat. A couple of years ago, we were "interviewed" by someone from the team in the stands before the game. When the team came out for warmups, they gave my son a Tatar stick. Tatar came over to the glass and gave him a wink and a big smile. We usually go to the Avalanche game on his birthday, and he asked this year, if instead of a birthday game, we could get good seats for the Montreal game. I was happy to oblige! -

Alrighty, my family will be there tonight. 2nd row corner, Habs attack twice end. Man, Avs winning the Cup certainly impacted ticket prices and demand. Go back three years or so ago, and we were literally turning down free games because we were going so often (for free). Last time we were at Ball Arena was for the watch party when the Avs won the Cup. Go Habs! Looking forward to seeing the kids fly around out there. Edit: Also supposed to be a crazy weather evening here. 50mph wind gusts, subzero temps and windchill, and somewhere between 2-7" of snow. -

Slaf decked by...Gostibehere? Golly. Glad to see Dvorak back after taking that shot from Suzuki up high. -

First Yotes game I've seen this year. Holy bad camera angles, batman! My wife actually said "why does it look like we're watching a college game?" -

Oh, I wasn't literal about coach firing. Merely an offhand comment about how bad the powerplay has been. -

Coincidentally, the Habs got their 14th win of the season last year vs Calgary in OT. Win 14 didn't happen until March 3, though. Who gets fired to get the PP going? Burrows? -
If #31 is done: should the Habs retire his number?
huzer replied to The Chicoutimi Cucumber's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Exactly! However, I wouldn't be surprised if the group approached him about putting a social media post out there. Something tells me if he was still an active member of the team, this post never gets published. -
Tank Hard for Bedard (as heard on TSN690)

No, not particularly. It's ok, you take the forum contrarian view for the sake of discussion, it appears. Keep on keeping' on. But if you're going to suggest tanking (which "perform less well" comes to mean), at least go full in, as @tomh009 presented. -

If you're trying to ice the worst lineup, then why keep Guhle, Caufield, etc at all in the NHL? Send them all down and bring up some plugs. I jest, of course, but it seems you've turned the corner from Bergevin/Ducharme cheerleader to troll levels of tanking. My son likes the Mighty Ducks Gamechanges series on Disney. Maybe we should follow suit of one of the teams on that show, and make everyone play with their off hand, too. -

Just to add a little context to how historically bad last season was: 8th win of 2022-2023: Nov 12 8th win of 2021-2022: Jan 18 After that 8th win last year, they had a 10 game losing streak, and didn't get win #9 until Feb 17th. To match that level of incompetence, they would have to embark on a consecutive 40 game losing streak. Oof. -
He has benefited from playing with Suzuki and Caufield instead of Monahan and Hoffman, which makes sense. I figure Dach is doing better than anyone else on that line that's had the opportunity. Time will tell if it keeps up long term, but so far, his style of play appears to blend well.

I like PK. Genuinely seemed like he was having fun out there, which is what playing a game should be. I'm sure he'll keep on keepin' on in the studio.
