  1. Of course, it could also mean they're closer to a deal that will be completed prior to Monday.
  2. It was obvious that it was “oops, we missed a call”, better assess a major so we can retroactively call a minor interference. Nice blast by Caufield to end it.
  3. That was interesting. I don’t recall refs purposely calling a 5 minute penalty just for the ability to review that they missed a call. I don’t claim to watch every NHL game either, though.
  4. I think Armia had all of the offense knocked out of him when Myers clocked him on his 4 pt night.
  5. Mr. Hammond, if you won't embrace the tank, the tank will embrace you. To IR with you!
  6. it's mostly impatience by media/fans at this point. Deadline day is still, what, 17 days away?
  7. Seems people are debating "really bad" vs "not good". Why does it matter, and whose feelings are getting hurt here? At the end of the day, this has been a catastrophic season that is the fault of players, coaches, and management. People that should be held accountable have been, for once. Now, if you simply don't agree that the coach should have been fired, then I wonder how you can possibly present evidence to the contrary without just shouting "injuries!".
  8. I'm not sure I follow. The intent of the deadline trade isn't to put someone over the hump to make the playoffs. It's generally to bolster a contending roster.
  9. Habs would need to go about 25-5 to finish 11th.
  10. A little Habs/NYR action? Gorton going back to the well.
  11. Looking back over the last few trade deadlines, you're right. Overall, not as my 1st round picks get tossed around as people might think over the trade deadline.
  12. I think there’s potential for a 1st for Chiarot. I can see plenty of folks writing off what’s happened during the dumpster fire of a regular season and pointing to the successes of the playoffs last year as a driver for his value.
  13. I really liked Toffoli, but how is he a reliable 30 goal scorer, when he’s hit 30 goals once (twice, given 28 in 44 last year). He’s not Patches.
  14. So that gets the Habs back to 2 first rounders this year. I wonder if Chiarot/Petry will involve 2023 1st rounders. I also wonder what this means for Gallagher. He expressed a bit of hesitation at sticking around for a rebuild.
  15. Nice. Primeau can go back to Laval, tank is still in place, no contract issues.
  16. It's quite interesting to see how many folks have completely soured on Petry, as if he's the first player on this team to have tuned out a coach. I guess he could give the "Standard NHL player post game interview" and not speak what he might really think. Or, is it a case that a player is allowed to heap praise, but not be critical? I mean, hey Petry, go out and play like a #1 defenseman because the Habs don't have one, and oh yeah, do it with Kulak. Also, please don't complain and be positive 24/7. Thanks!
  17. He has had one former NHLer as a coach, Peter Sejna. not quite as decorated as MSL, but quite an intense coach!
  18. Not gonna lie, wish St. Louis woulda been my son's peewee coach this year.
  19. Well, he can't go to a presser where he's being announced as coach and say "I'm just here for the next 2 months."
  20. Here's my uneducated take. The relationship with DD became untenable between the NJD game and Wednesday afternoon. They moved up the timeline for his firing. They hired MSL to get him into the organization now, and didn't want an available retread coach as the interim. They may be targeting a coach that's currently an assistant on an NHL team and are waiting until the offseason, may be targeting a head coach outside of the NHL. Either way, they want a coach that is most likely currently unavailable now for whatever reason. I don't believe St. Louis is intended as the long term head coach of the team. The only negative in the situation is the lack of experience of St. Louis as a coach. Given the current status of the team in the standings and where they will finish, it's barely a negative at that. The team can finish 0-37 and MSL won't get blamed.
  21. For the Habs to pick outside the top ten, they'd need to get (based on last full NHL season) 59 pts in their remaining 37 games. That would equate to the equivalent of a 130pt season. That'd be a helluva bump.
  22. How is one supposed to pronounce this awful nickname?
  23. Boy, if Petry and Chiarot (I also assume Kulak/Wideman may go as UFA rentals, too)....poor Edmundson. And, poor whoever is in net.
