  1. One of Burke's prized UFA acquisitions, Colby Armstrong, is on buyout waivers this morning.
  2. Lost in the news of the Moen re-signing was the note that Brad Staubitz was informed that the Habs will not be making him a contract offer.
  3. Daigneault last played for the Habs in 95-96, well before Therrien took over the team.
  4. This faceoff specialist thing is getting a little overstated. With Montreal, his faceoff percentage was 51% on the dot. That's nothing to get excited about. Personally, I think it was the Engqvist signing that precipitated this move. I think their plan was for Engqvist to be the #5 centre, someone who could start in the minors but would play 25 or 30 games when injuries/slumps arise. Rather than risk having to overpay for one in free agency, they've now made Nokelainen the #5 centre who, depending on what happens in free agency or trades, may start with the Habs.
  5. We do already have a thread where this is being discussed. http://forums.habswo...showtopic=23682
  6. Someone forgot to tell Calgary that. He gets 2 years, $2 mil per year.
  7. He has agreed to terms with New Jersey.
  8. Interestingly enough this is a pay raise for him although it comes lower than what his QO was. At that price, I could see them trying to put him in the minors if a better option presents itself.
  9. Didn't see this coming, 1 year, $575k. Same deal for Brendon Nash as well though his is two-way.
  10. Bob McKenzie is reporting that there are rumblings that the Habs and Price seem to be working towards a 6 or 7 year deal with an AAV in the $6M to $6.5M range.
  11. Frankly, I think he'll retire.
  12. 2 years, $4 million total for Hal Gill in Nashville. He got his multi-year deal, I'm happy for him.
  13. TSN 990's Mitch Melnick is saying the Habs have their guy and will name him shortly, it won't be Robinson.
  14. Let me add to that first sentence...The salary cap will be going up by almost 6 million for next season...until the new CBA is signed...and then it will be going down. The small market teams aren't signing off on any CBA that forces them to spend over $50 million on payroll annually.
  15. If it's a multi-year deal, it gets the 35+ treatment. One year pacts are treated as normal.
  16. Crosby to sign a $100+ million extension believed to be 11-12 years in length.
  17. Dennis Wideman to Calgary, 5 years, $26.25 million. That's a hefty price. Oh well, time to add a different blueliner to the list for the HW UFA pool (the ballot should be up tomorrow).
  18. LeBrun's update on Schultz's situation: http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/17965/the-chase-for-free-agent-schultz-heats-up
  19. Report: Andreas Engqvist signs with Atlant Mytishchi of the KHL.
  20. Prust is going to be expensive. Reports are that he has rejected 3 years, $5.4 million already. That alone is too much for largely a 4th liner.
  21. Ralph Krueger will be named Edmonton's head coach tomorrow. This should be an interesting case to follow; aside from being an associate coach with the Oilers last year, all of his coaching experience has come from overseas (mostly with Switzerland and Austria). Hiring an 'international coach' is a rarity in the NHL right now, this should be an interesting case to follow.
  22. There seems to be some rumblings that a deal with him will get done.
  23. A lot smaller of a roster this time around, 14 players in total. F - Bozon, Collberg, Galchenyuk, Girard*, Hudon, Lane*, Nystrom, Pribyl, Vail D - Bennett, Oligny*, Thrower G - Lagace, Marcoux Invites are C Felix Girard, C Matt Lane, D Jimmy Oligny, G Jacob Lagace, and G Etienne Marcoux. Aside from Lane who was with the US NTDP, the other tryouts are all from the QMJHL.
