  1. I think it'll be Reiff in the 1st, an OLB in the 2nd (lavonte david or zach brown perhaps) and then a WR in rd 3. This draft is very deep on wide receivers. I wouldn't count out all the d lineman I listed. I still believe guys like Alex Carrington and Torrell Troup can contribute, keep in mind they've both only played 2 seasons and came out of smaller school programs.
  2. I've been thrilled with our offseason thus far. Our biggest weakness was by far our D-line and now adding Anderson to Mario Williams we should have a top 5 Dline (if not best in the league). Greatest part of this is that as we get more pressure on the QB it makes the rest of our D look better. I've felt for a while that we have an underrated secondary who gets exposed because the QB normally has a ton of time to throw, this will no longer be the case. The issue now is having too many players on the Dline (Mario, Anderson, Kelsay, S. Johnson, Dwan Edwards, Carrington, Dareus, K. Williams, Troup, Heard, Merriman, and others). Sombody's going to have to be cut.
  3. Great news indeed. Hopefully he can get a few games under his belt to finish off the season. Would be really important heading into next season to know that we can count on Markov to be a key contributor once again!
  4. with darche and moen on IR does that mean they are unable to be traded today?
  5. Agreed, happy to see that we wont be sitting back today.
  6. so essentially it's Gill and Kostitsyn for Geoffrion, Slaney, and 2nd round picks in 12 and 13.
  7. 2nd round pick and we get back the conditional 5th from the gill deal. Don't love it, I would've though we could get more.
  8. Has anyone watched House of Lies. It's on showtime in the US so I've had to find it online but it's really good. Stars Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell and Richard Schiff (if you're a west wing fan). I'd highly recommend it.
  9. One of the biggest difference for me was the fact that the team didn't let up once they got a 2 goal lead. Martin's teams would have sat on that lead and continued to dump the puck in the rest of the game. Last night they kept their foot on the gas pedal and easily pulled away. Here's hoping that this tactics change will result in a few less blown leads.
  10. What are the odds that we can negotiate with Tampa Bay to let Boucher out of his contract?
  11. Let's hope he returns to his toronto form, otherwise that is one awful contract to be stuck with. Have to wonder what this means for Gorges, can we really afford to resign him next season with Kaberle's contract on the books?
  12. Y You'd have to think that Martin would have had some say on who would be on the bench with him. What makes this particularly interesting is that Pearn was the one major guy that JM brought with him when he took the head coaching job. If Martin wasn't consulted on Pearn's firing you have to think this is as big a shot across the bow from Gauthier as he could muster next to firing Martin himself.
  13. I too would like to see Muller get some consideration, but I don't think he speaks French. I don't think the HC needs to speak french but we all know how that situation would go in the french media. I wonder if Guy Boucher has a special out-clause in Tampa Bay in the event the Habs job comes open. If that's the case he would be #1 on my list.
  14. Makes you wonder if PG gave Martin an ultimatum, fire Pearn or find the door yourself. Wouldn't be the first time that a head coach has had to choose between his staff and his own job. Gauthier to address the firing at 7pm tonight so we'll see what he has to say about any possible replacement.
  15. Thanks everyone, can't wait until tomorrow!!
  16. My wife bought me tickets to see the Habs this Saturday for my birthday, this will be my first Habs game ever so Im super psyched. Figured I'd throw a post up here to find out what are some of the Habs related experiences I shouldn't miss while I'm in Montreal. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.
  17. I saw somewhere it was an average of 2.65 million per season. Sounds reasonable enough to me. After this contract is he still an RFA or does he become UFA?
  18. 2 year deal, terms not disclosed yet.
  19. Looks like we'll have players in the ECHL after all... http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=536594
  20. Wyman and Carle also apparently agreed on one-year deals.
  21. PG just confirmed that the team has informed Moore, Metro, MAB and Mara that they will not be receiving contract offers from the team as they were no longer in the plans for next season.
  22. Here is ottawa it was crazy. My entire office bulding shook, I could actually feel the building moving. Every building downtown was evacuated sending thousands of people into the street. On the plus side they wouldn't let us back in until the next day so we got to spend the afternoon on a patio drinking beer.
  23. Buffalo plays a league leading 22 back to back games, thats brutal! Habs have 16 which is around average.
  24. 4 straight years with 20+ goals, this was definitely his best season, but to say he's been awful in the past really isn't a reasonable comment.
