In order to have the best possible installations and maximize players' training conditions, there is a proven need for having a training facility away from the venue where the games are played.

“This new practice centre demonstrates to our players and to all our fans that the Montreal Canadiens is a modern and dynamic organization, determined to undertake all the necessary measures to provide winning conditions. This project, carried out with the collaboration of AXOR Inc. and the City of Brossard will also allow all citizens of the city and the immediate area to take advantage of an exceptional facility for both hockey and soccer, which are very popular sports among youth and adults in the province of Quebec.”

-Pierre Boivin

“With this new training complex, the Canadiens will join the elite of professional sports franchises and rank among the top NHL teams with regards to training facilities. It will contribute to enhance the competitiveness of our team by improving the players’ professional environment and raising the quality of our practices, and our players’ conditioning will follow. Furthermore, this new centre dedicated to the Canadiens will help reinforce the closeness and team spirit and bring the players even closer to our fans.”

-Bob Gainey

The Canadiens will settle into their new practice home in the Fall of 2008.

I really like this. Great initiative.

It might help attract free agents once it's up.

Especially if there's lots of video games :P

Hmmm -- what other cool stuff could the Habs put in there . . . .?

Hopefully the training room will offer excercise machines that work on enthusiasm, work ethic, or how about energy to play more then 20 mins a game. How about a therapist that speaks russian, ....the truth is with the salary cap the Habs don't know what to do with all the extra money.......write off anyone? They should have made it seat more then 22 000 people and just start playing there. Or selling out all the practices......

Glad to see the ownership and community investing in the team; now if we can just attract quality talent to join the club. And then, when they do, we welcome then and provide a climate not just an environment for them to grow and feel comfortable. Not alienated like what usually happens.
