Looking at the roster, you'd think so (heck, I did too) but the Sens are 13-8-1 in their last 22 games with more or less a roster resembling that cast of characters. Talent wise the Habs should win (and with the home-away-from-home ice advantage) but the Sens are knocking off some pretty good teams lately.

A walk in the park! :rolleyes: I'd expect the opposite to be just as likely, maybe moreso. The Habs now have nothing to play for except the principle of rounding out their game for the playoffs. If you want to see how this can work, check out the Canuckleheads' last two games, both losses to the pathetic Oilers. The odds favour Montreal taking a vacation out there tonight. 4-2 Sens.

A walk in the park! I'd expect the opposite to be just as likely, maybe moreso. The Habs now have nothing to play for except the principle of rounding out their game for the playoffs. If you want to see how this can work, check out the Canuckleheads' last two games, both losses to the pathetic Oilers. The odds favour Montreal taking a vacation out there tonight. 4-2 Sens.

If the Habs lose because the Sens out played them or got a couple good bounces that's fine.

If Auld lets in a couple soft goals and we lose by one, I can live with that.

But, if they decide to start up the phoning -it-in party again that'll be disappointing.

I'd expect them to continue playing the way they have been over the last two games.They've only had their game back together for 6 periods and a bit of overtime.

I have a feeling the Habs will want to finish the season on the up swing.

Guess we'll see in 7 hours.

Hey, I think there's certainly a chance that the Habs will come out invigorated and focused, too scared by their late season slump to want to risk their newfound cohesion and confidence. But I also think there's a chance - probably a better chance - that they will consciously or unconsciously decide to coast. Coasting will lead either to an unconvincing win or an embarassing loss. Be ready for that possibility, is what I'm saying.

I totally hear you, don't get me wrong. I was actually playing devil's advocate with my original post.

I feel the same way, it could easily go either way tonight.

But today I'm feeling optimistic so I'm choosing to ignore your sober look at reality...

Sens lines are now revised as their callups have been made, couple of different guys from who was used last game (Greening, D. Smith replacing Wick, Wiercioch). I'll also use this spot to announce that a new smiley has been added, one that was nearly legendary years ago (won't say what it is though).

It was used in so many situations, as well in HWL, a sim league that was hosted here in the past. Of all the smileys, it was used nearly the most. There are two others that jump to mind that were in that category (used probably more often than necessary) though they were primarily HWL based, I may add those later on.

As for actual game notes, Moen out, Weber in as a forward. Not a bad call in case something happens to Spacek or he simply isn't able to log too many minutes.

Oh yeah...I don't see it in our smiley archive anywhere...if you can find it, I'll add it in.

Onto the game, not impressed with the end to end rush attempts we're seeing from the Habs, particularly the D. Good defensive teams aren't going to allow it so take the time and work on those quick pass plays to gain the zone effectively with speed. That's what it'll take in the playoffs, so get the good habits going already. Craig Simpson really is on Gomez tonight, even when he makes the right read, he spins it negatively. The one instance where Weber took the penalty, he blamed Gomez saying he should've anticipated where the puck was going. Thing is, the puck was behind him (with the Habs in possession) so he did what every other forward would, get to an open spot in front of the net. Just seems that they're going out of their way to try and rile the fan base before their playoff coverage of the Habs starts.

On the out of town scoreboard, Rangers are down 2-0 after 2. Why does this matter? Regardless of the outcome of this one, if the Rangers lose in regulation, the Habs can't slip below 7th.
