dlbalr
With the minor league seasons set to get underway, it's time to get the general discussion thread going. Use this thread for any small news/roster notes for both St. John's (AHL) and Brampton (ECHL). A couple of notes regarding the IceCaps: - Max Friberg has been named team captain, replacing Gabriel Dumont. Mark Barberio and Jacob de la Rose are the alternates. - The team has signed G Bryan Pitton to a PTO to back up Zach Fucale while Lindgren is up with Montreal. dlbalr
Under the category of head scratching moves, St. John's has signed Yann Danis to a one year contract (not a PTO). http://www.stjohnsicecaps.com/article/icecaps-sign-goalie-yann-danis-to-ahl-contract/ That would imply that someone will be going to Brampton once Lindgren gets re-assigned (and would somewhat quash the notion of potentially claiming back Condon in a few weeks). Guest Stogey24
I don't hate the idea of a vet goalie in St John's with Lindgren
John B
Maybe Bergevin doesn't want to get any closer to the 50 contract limit?
Machine of Loving Grace
They must want Lindgren and Fucale to get as many games as possible. Didn't see a problem with them splitting games down the middle but I guess the team is adamant for Fucale to play in the ECHL.
Commandant
I guess they assumed condon would get to St. John's. Since that didn't happen, this move was made.
BlueKross
Fucale has to be odd man out. I have never been impressed with his consistency. Too many stinkers. Danis will not hurt us.
DON
McCarron suspended 2 games for head butt. Broke Hickman's nose with headbutt, but sounded like he had it coming to him. http://www.habseyesontheprize.com/2016/10/18/13303962/michael-mccarron-suspended-for-headbutt-icecaps-suspension-habs-lefebvre-style-grit-heart-character
Guest Stogey24
I'm not saying I like the fact McCarron head butted someone, but I do like the fact that he's a feisty dude.
DON
Agree, headbutt not recommended nor endorsed, but sounded like he was taking a few punches and I assume was tied up and did what he had to do.
dlbalr
This was originally supposed to be a season preview piece but Andrighetto being waived pushed it back a few days. dlbalr
With Price off IR, Lindgren has been sent back to St. John's. The IceCaps also released Bryan Pitton from his PTO.
BlueKross
Not a big fan of ECHl or Ahl new websites- we were able to get gamesheets and at least have an idea what is going on

If the scoreboard across the top doesn't load - and that's hit or miss - open up the daily scores page. On the bottom right of each score are three letters in a circle, S, R, and T. S is the scoresheet.

DON
Hudon 5g in 6 games Anrighetto 6pts in 4gms Scherbak 3pts in 6gms McCarron 3pts in 4gms Lindgren playing very well, only 2gms so far but still 1.50 .961% Icecaps now are 2-3-
dlbalr
Andrighetto has been named Player of the Week in the AHL: http://theahl.com/andrighetto-player-of-the-week-oct23
DON
Can Hudon get called up and not need waivers to be sent back down, but Andrighetto would need to clear if called up temporarily? I wonder if some GMs almost bit on Sven when he was on waivers and now thinking they missed out?
Commandant
Andrighetto can be called up, and as long as he isn't on the roster for 30 days can be sent back down without waivers This is cumulative... so if he's called up for 14 days, sent down, called back up for 17 days, he'd need waivers to go down the second time. DON
Just now, Commandant said: Andrighetto can be called up, and as long as he isn't on the roster for 30 days can be sent back down without waivers This is cumulative... so if he's called up for 14 days, sent down, called back up for 17 days, he'd need waivers to go down the second time. Thanks Ben. Hudon not only has scored 5g, he has had numerous (couple at least) breakaways but didn't score on.
dlbalr
Fucale has been sent to Brampton. It's nice to see common sense prevail after Lefebvre said last week that they were planning to keep three goalies up.
dlbalr
No de la Rose this weekend after he fractured a finger while blocking a shot on Sunday in Hartford.
dlbalr
Carr has been sent to St. John's, I assume just for the weekend to get into some games. No corresponding recall has been announced (but that might change after 5 PM EST today).
DON
http://www.stjohnsicecaps.com/article/recap-icecaps-clip-comets-in-ot/ recap/highlights Scherbak gets 4th and 5th goals.
dlbalr
St. John's has signed defenceman Julien Brouillette to a PTO to take Hanley's spot on the roster. He played in the SHL last season and spent time with St. John's back in 2014-15 when it was Winnipeg's affiliate.
