simonus
so how many more buyouts until the flyers can ice a cap-legal team? Im going with.... 2 For that matter what's the over/under for the leafs, rangers, and red wings? I like 5,4,
Fanpuck33_
Leafs only have 4-5 players signed, so right now, they are under the cap, lol. They're going to have to go real cheap if they don't buyout Belfour's contract.
Leafs Suck
Only goalie out their for them to sign is Bulin and I guarantee you their are alot of teams who want him.
simonus
are the leafs really silly enough to pick up khabibulin? Haven't they fallen apart in the playoffs often enough?

I never said dump Eddie and get a FA. What I meant was they would dump Eddie and hands the reigns to Tellqvist and let him show if he can be a #1 goalie. Also, Khabi isn't the only FA goalie out there: Cujo, Burke, and the unorthodox Cechmanek are FA also.

Dalhabs
Maybe sign Leclair cheap and use him as a powerforward? I know he is old but why not try a 1 year deal? That would mean we have a Stanley Cup winner from 93 back [Edited on 2005/7/24 by Dalhabs]

No, you're smart. Anyway, about goalies, in retrospect it's too bad we let Garon go now that the new CBA and Huet's 6+ month rehab have changed the situation for us, but hope Jose can play a lot and hope the good karma (from giving Garon the starting position he deserves) stands us in good stead. AND, on the nights he plays, hope Danis is spectacular and gets shutouts etc. We'll do fine this year. Oh, and one more thing -- Screw the Leafs! But the nostalgia angle is interesting, especially if we can't keep Brisebois (somebody tell me -- can we keep him at a reduced salary??? -- then we would have at least one contact with the glory of '93). And since the Kings are improving grace a les canadiens parti they have picked up, wouldn't it be ironic if we met them again in the playoffs this year? getting ahead of myself -- Kovalev is what I want to see happen, then everything else will fall into place! Oh, and since I'm all over the place with this post I want to add that I think Boullion is underrated and he can be a top-six D-man for the Habs -- because heart counts! kaos
I'd be totally happy if the Habs resigned Kovalev, and if not him then try and pick up a top flight winger, as well as signing a top defensman like Adam Foote who can help Komisarek and Ron Hainsey develop. If not Foote then maybe Dejardins if Philly decides to buy him out as well. Unfortunately i don't think the Habs can afford Scott Neidermayer
shortcat1
The next week or so is going to be kind of a high, a frenzy for hockey in this child's heart. All the action/movement/changes that have and will soon take place are like a whole season's dealings done in two weeks. I wonder what it'll be like when this frenzy is done, after the draft itself takes place. Will it be the same king of post-partum blues that I go through at the end of every season? :( I suppose that, for this year anyways, the compensation is that rookie training camps will begin in about a month or so and then it'll be training camps, pre-season and then the full-fledged deal again. :ghg:

Even more if he's overaged and EVEN MORE if he plays for one of the best team in AHL! Leafs Suck
Always liked Turgeon. If we moved Ribeiro and the #5 for the #2 to draft Johnson, I would definitely be open to Turgeon coming back to add depth down the middle.
Dalhabs
I like Bouillon too. He was GREAT in helping my swedish team make it back to the top swedish league. I saw a few games with him and he was dominant on the bigger ice and was a hell of a powerplay Dman. He might be REALLY good with the new rules. We might not need Breezer from what I saw of Bouillon in sweden. He averaged over a point per game during the final round of the qualification. If I remember right he had 10 games 2 goals 9 assists. Prime Minister Koivu
There is going to be crazy action over the next few days. Detroit has to do something they are at 33 mil or so with only 12 or so player signed. Most of their unsigned people are stars. Are they in trouble or what! PB
Like ''Leafs Suck'' I always liked Turgeon,.. whats not to like of a player that has translated on the ice throughout is carrer the very reason why he was the first pick overall some 17 years ago. Luring him to play in Montreal is not unrealistic since he is from Rouyn and will most likely live here after retiring,...just after being boughtout from Dallas he could play here for dirt cheap as well. He could be used as a short term solution on the third line if BG felt Chipchura not ready but not, as LS suggested, used to replace Ribeiro on its way to Anahein with our soon to be obtain fifth pick prospect (Brule, Kopitar or Ryan) for prospect Johnson. Young Ribeiro is just to brilliant offensively and pure candy, not just for fans but for any gifted wingers lucky enough to have him as center. It would take alot in return for me to accept the lost of this unique one of a time player,... any team would like its second line to be centered by a gifted hometowner of its genre...specially here in Montreal and specially in a time when hoocking and grabing is on the decline. Ribeiro is ''edge of your seat material'' and Brule, Kopita or Ryan might just be first line material in their own wright,.. which then for me anyhow would be way out of proportion to use them to get Johnson.
