with Monahan healthy and Dach playing well, there is no room for any waiver eligible forward. Slafkovsky is headed to Laval

There had been rumours of Hughes attempting to move some salary out for the last few weeks.  Still a week to the start of the season, some team may not be happy with their roster, willing to make a move.

I am still stuck looking at a trade with SEA.... maybe we can trade Dadonov to SEA retaining 50% of salary and adding a D prospect like Leskinen or Fairbrother for Fleury... crering a forward roster spot, clearing some salary and patching the RD ?!

Cale Fleury (RHD) played 9 NHL games for Seattle last season (14:34TOI) and 58 in the AHL ... not certain he is any sort of solution at RD ... and certainly not at the cost of a solid deadline bargaining chip and giving up a, albeit middling, prospect ... Haydn Fleury, also in Seattle, is a more established, but still marginal, NHLer ... but he is a LHD.

***IF*** I understand LTIR correctly, to maximize the use of LTIR with Price they want to be as close to $82.5M total AAV (excluding Price) to start the season ... moving out contracts now might not really help cap-wise over the course of the season.

From my understanding, you are correct.  With good contract and asset management, they could start accruing cap space starting next year, or later this year with some good trades.

For the purpose of the rebuild, at some point soon, they don’t want to be in LTIR and would like to be accruing cap space.  The earlier the better.
