Going through this rebuild makes me appreciate Price more and more

Wow Price had so little help in front of him especially when Bergevin wasted his prime doing a retool.  It just amazes me the numbers he put up not having a point per game player or an elite player or even just a 70+ point player on the team.  Man wish he could of won a cup even if it wasn’t with us.

You know me, I am a huge fan of Price. Massive respect for him and what he meant - so massive that I am firmly convinced that he deserves to be the first Hab to have his number retired without winning a Cup. I regard him as a Great Montreal Canadien, the only one of this century.

That said, the 2014 and 2015 teams were legit contenders, or at least legitimate 'outside' contenders. It wasn't all garbage - just mostly garbage, LOL. And let's face it, the Kreider knee-job did make his health precarious from that point onward.

It is a true shame, though, that his run to the Finals only occurred when he was on his very last legs. He was amazing in that run, but he should have reached the Finals before then and certainly would have done so had Kreider not decided to take him out.

From 2014 to 2018 (as long as price was healthy) we were legit 1 piece away.   A number 1 centre.

Price was the best goalie in hockey.

Subban/Weber were legit number 1 d.  Norris conversation players.

Markov and Petry gave them a trio on the blue line.

Pacioretty and Gallagher provided goals from the wings.

Plekanec/danault were shutdown centres who could neutralize the other teams top line.

They just missed that #1 c

And no one remembers how we were literally tearing up the league at the start of 2017. A buzzsaw. Then, of course, Price went down for the entire season.

That might have been The Year.
