Habby1197
Okay, well we're in 8th, clinging to a playoff spot, who is going to step up and really put us in there? Koivu hasn't scored in 17 games, thats more than 1/5 the season... He is not getting the job done at all. He's been awful all over the ice and I don't care what he's been through, it's not an excuse for his play this season. Especially when he was the best player in the world in Turin. Ryder has 24 goals, but most of them were scored early in the year, he's pretty useless out there, he's got to take it up a notch, or 2... well more like 10. Zednik, he's trying a bit more, but his decisons with the puck are horrible, they cost us the game tonight, it's unreal that he was once pretty dominating and is coming off of 31 and 26 goal seasons. A few people have stepped up, Huet has been excellent... Souray had been OUTSTANDING of late and is a real leader on this team, Rivet has also been solid, Boullion as well... I really hope he's ok. If those 3 guys don't step up in a HUGE way, we can forget the playoffs... Oh yeah, we're kind of missing a #79 in the back end.
JLP
Yeah I dunno what the deal is with Saku maybe he's hurt or there's something personal going on messing with his life? He gets it together then the rest of the team will follow. That's what the "C" means! C'Mon Saku!!!
kaos
Everybody needs to step it up, they're fighting for a playoff spot for ######s sake. If you can't get fired up now, theres no point in you being in the league. ###### Saku Koivu, he's got his fat contract now, what does he care whether he shows up. Wheres the guy that dominated at the Olympics? I guess he only plays well when he has better players playing around him? Obviously not worth is $4.5 Million contract. Another Gainey mistake. Ryder, he's allowed to slump, for most of the year he was the only scoring threat, especailly when Koivu and Kovalev were out. But this is getting ridiculous Kovalev, great that you can circle the offensive zone and play keep away, but thats not scoring goals....make a nice pass and set up a goal, or shot the puck and hope for a rebound. Everybody else.....DO SOMETHING
Prime Minister Koivu
There are obvious players that need to step up. I want to see Bob Gainey step up. -putting Abby in net last night was a mistake. -the whole team seems to be in a slump, all lines, all players. -even though Koivu was good last night (not great), Bob needs to get this guy going. -this team needs to UNDERSTAND that every game is a playoff game right now. BTH
Koivu needs to step up. It's his responsability and if he doesn't then it gets twice as hard for someone like Ryder to lead the way. If we're not getting primary scoring then we need the secondary scoring. Guys like Bulis, the D and the other checkers need to score. That's what happened last night. Give us solid goaltending and we can win a hockey game or two.

Trizzak
Who needs to step up? um...everybody? And I don't mean that everybody is playing badly, but it's a race for the playoffs....everyone should be thinking "I need to do more"
sbhatt
Guys that need to step up: 1. Koivu - he's useless right now, so it's like we don't have a decent offensive center. 2. Ryder - completely useless unless he's scoring...he has no other skills. 3. Gainey - he's a terrible coach so far...lacking the balls to leave guys who aren't putting out a good effort on the bench in favor of guys who are working hard. Good coaches aren't afraid to bench even their biggest star, if that's what is best for the team. Gainey needs to stop coddling Koivu and Ryder. C-Love
All that we need is for Begin to start scoring again. Remember at the beginning of the year when Stevie was on fire? We couldn't lose. If Begin starts scoring we will start winning. Seriously, the obvious guys need to step up, but especially the D, if they play as sloppy against the Caps as they did against the Pens, Huet won't make a difference, we WILL lose. ch_nl
Zednik has not been near the production I expected. Michal Ryder shots a lot, just needs to find the back of the net. SAKU KOIVU. Where are you?
lazy26
Everyone needs to step up... this IS the playoff crunch after all... Especially Huet... he needs to step up... he's got to start getting back-to-back-to-back-to-back shutouts... 'Nuff said...

kaos
Yeah its unfortunate he doesn't bring more skill to the rink. But he's a roll player who knows what he's there to do. I'm quite happy with 10 to goals and solid defensive play from him every year. Worth every penny of his $650,000ish salary
CoRvInA
And lets not forget STEP OUT of the penalty box! With the status quo at which were playing even 50% less penalties would mean a world of difference! Were not Ottawa... we cannot afford so many bad penalties! Reduce the penalties= increase in offensive mode and we will get Begin Ryder Koivu and even Bonk scoring ( ok mayeb not Bonk but you get the drift!!
