2025-26 projected lineup discussion

I agree on that. Having said that last year, both came back from injuries and I don’t think Dach meshed with anyone. I think o Newhook went a couple of months without an assist and had horrible production despite his scoring chances, even before Laine came back. So it wasn’t just Laine he didn’t mesh with. -

Laine and Dach was a really bad combo last year. They didnt mesh. Im fine to try it and see if that changes but the leash would be short. -

The amount of icetime and the way they are treated is directly related to how good they are and how nhl ready they are. You earn your ice time. This is also why i want to see AHL dominance and being undeniable from these kids. -

Yes, hopefully he hears all the talk about the Habs needing a 2c and uses it as motivation but if he can't stay healthy than he is useless. Time for Dach to get serious. -

... or they expected Mooney to drop more yet, so they grabbed Pickford and Radkov in the third round. This is just speculation, though, I have no insider info on their thinking. -

Makes me nervous having those 3 playing big minutes. Looks like a defensive train wreck. -

I was referring more to their picks at 81 and 82. They took Mooney at 113 and by then Schmidt was gone so impossible to say if they preferred one to the other. -

I’d still try Laine there first. See if there is better chemistry having Demidov with Dach and Laine. I just didn’t think Newhook was a good fit in that line and Dach was too tentative. Demidov is a play driver who can control the pace of play. -

100%. We don’t make the playoffs without Laine’s hot streak when he came back we d his 20 goals. Dach needs to stay healthy for us to know what he is cabable of and as a starting point he needs to have a hard summer of work to prepare for this season. He has shown flashes of being dominant, but he needs to come in strong and confident and then let’s hope he is finally healthy. Xhejac should heavy been left in the minors for that full season when he was sent down to get more reps and ice time. It is what it is now. But he’s another guy who has to come back and not just play hard, but play smart. -

To me it depends on if we ever get that coveted 2C (which seems rather unlikely at this point, but i have learned to never doubt Hugo) If we get that 2C Laine will likely benefit greatly, I see him having the higher ceiling but lower floor than Bolduc so accompanied by effective players Laine could very well score 30-35 goals in my mind. If we run Dach at 2C he probably will not legitimately be that calibre of player (although he is apparently in the best shape of his career; so i wont speak too fast) in which case i would love to see what Bolduc can do. I find it likely we dont get that 2C this year and maybe just hold out for Hage so i have no issues experimenting with that 2nd line. I have done no extensive research on Bolduc though. -

I was also hoping they would grab him with one of their 3rd round picks, talented player and was all over the place in mock drafts, Mckenzie had him at 47. I guess the Habs decided that Pickford and Radkov were more to their liking or perhaps the position they played had something to do with it. -

I hope they play Laine on the third line with PP time of course. At least to start the season. I personally want to see Bolduc with Demidov, Dach. -

Doesn't necessarily mean anything as deals are often made right up to arbitration day. I still think Hughes plans on trading Struble anyway. -

Today is the deadline to file for salary arbitration and the Habs have two players eligible - Struble and Dobes. The full list hasn't been announced yet (the deadline is at the top of the hour) but it sounds like Struble on the list of those who have filed. -

Usually players that need/needed AHL seasoning (i.e., not elite prospects) get "thrown into the fire" on teams with no expectations and therefore fewer expectations/consequences. -
Writers Weigh In: Mulling the Mailloux Move – HabsWorld.net "... But assuming Bolduc pans out, he’ll join a core group of Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, and Demidov who are all 25 or younger with at least five years of club control remaining. That’s a solid foundation for forwards while Dach and Newhook are also in that age bracket with less team control. ..."

I couldn’t care less about +/-. It’s not accurate or meaningful. Liane’s goals helped us win games. Dach was a disappointment, I’m hopeful, but not optimistic that he will reach his potential this year. Arber was in and out of the lineup because the coaches decided that was the best option because of his deft defensive inconsistency— , I didn’t necessarily agree. I don’t think Liane showed a bad attitude and I think that he will be a much better player after a full offseason to recover from his injuries.

As much as I've spent the last little bit making the case for my preference to be rid of him, short of that, I too, hope for the best. -
I just hope Laine has awesome summer training and is quicker this coming season. We all know his give-a-f**k to defend, take a hit to make a play or win a puckrace to an iced puck is; but he is what he is at this point. However a 35g season and him clicking with a healthy Dach and Demidov would really be sweet to see though.
