  2. I can't dive deep into this at 1:30 am, so I look forward to you all telling me how to feel in the morning.

  3. If he was dealt at the deadline, the first round pick we would get would be outside of the Top 15. The prospect would probably be a B prospect. We got a 19 year old, one year removed from his draft, 13th overall, right handed with experience at centre, who has a great pass and a great shot. He's better than what we could have drafted. The B prospect is now a 2nd round pick from Columbus, who might trade Bobrovsky and Panarin and crash and burn this year, which gets that pick close to the 32-40 range where you get falling first round calibre players. Tatar sucks but if h

  4. Skinner fetched Cliff Pu - a far cry from suzuki - a second, third and sixth. Hoffman essentially fetched Boedker. Given the value of these two similar (younger) wingers, I think we made out like absolute bandits.

  5. The Habs did very well. Most media (who cares I guess) are calling this a win for Montreal. Suzuki is a beast, and will be a great player for SEVERAL years in Montreal. The 2nd could be anything. Pacs was GONE after this year. Walking away for Nothing. The ISLES would kill for this deal now for Tavares, and he's far better than Pacs. Such negativity around here. MB crushed this one. Home run. Out of the park.

  6. Price, yes. Elite goalies age well, and in 3 years i still expect him to be the backbone of the team. He is also a leader to keep to steer the youngsters in the right direction. At 33, Weber I would trade. Defencemen age better than forwards, but not as well as goalies, and you can get a lot for him once he comes back and proves he is healthy.

  7. He's not Lars Eller 2.0 He was number 5 on MacKenzie's list which is a survey of actual NHL scouts. He wasn't that big of a reach. And some of those actual NHL scouts had him rated 3rd. Zadina didn't get picked by the Sens, or the Coyotes. Less than half of the scouts surveyed by McKenzie had him at #3. The idea that we passed up a player who everyone agrees is a better talent just isn't true. There are a number of teams who would have passed on Zadina, and at least two more that actually did.

  8. I disagree that the other guys were regarded as having a higher ceiling. The arguement was that Zadina and Tkachuk were already established and you know what you are getting with them. It was Kotkaniemi who had the higher ceiling but also a bit of a risk because he wasn’t as established. There was a lot of scouts that moved Kotkaniemi into the top 5 because of his potential, most notably Craig Button who said his highest potential could be the next Kopitar. So again I stress some patience in regards to our young blue chip prospect and now with the addition of Suzuki and

  9. Love this deal. Suzuki torched my Greyhounds last season. Looks like a future star. Hopefully we can develop him properly. Will be in attendance when Owen Sound is in town again this season. Also like how we can focus on finding a stud LHD now since we have stockpiled some talented young centres lately.

  10. I'm disappointed that no LD comes back and that, in light of this, we probably should have Zadina or Tkatchuk in the system. (More proof that BPA is the way to go). Nonetheless, getting a well-regarded C prospect is an acceptable return for Max at a point when his value has been driven down about as low as it can go. Tatar is an amusing curio. He will certainly get a chance on what is now easily one of the league's worst rosters. All the best to MaxPac, another sacrifice on the altar of Habs' chronic incompetence.

  11. Personally I don't draft Kotkaniemi over Zadina. Dude was revved up to be a Hab. I think he would have given 110% to be a star here. Maybe I eat crow on that when I'm 40. But for this team? No. Keep stockpiling centres. I want Hughes or Cozens in 2019 and Lafreniere or Byfield in 2020. One of the four would be amazing. Two of the four would be the making of a real contender. Let's say we finish dead last in 19-20 after moving Weber and Price and we win the lottery for Lafreniere. In 2019 we drafted Lavoie because Price had a decent season so we got 6th overall or someth

  12. Suzuki is a considerably better player than Hague though.

  13. Habs don’t pay 10% of Tatar’s contract. Still an overpayment at 4.8 rather than 5.3, but definitely not crippling.

  14. Bouchard apparently went off on the team for not standing up for Tyska after that hit.

  15. Kotkaniemi will likely be our Kadri. He is right now our best prospect but once he hits his stride we need to have a Matthews and Marner and Nylander surrounding so he looks underrated. If he is our best young player for years to come he either broke out huge or we neglected a proper rebuild and will suck for another 10 years.

  16. I don’t get all the love for this deal. Yes, we picked up a good a prospect. But the blueprint for a maxpac caliber player is a good young player, a top prospect and a first. We only got one of the three. The fact that we didn’t get more despite taking on Tatar, who was a healthy scratch for over half of the playoff games last year makes no sense. I also dont don’t get why with all the cap room we have, we wouldn’t have retained more than 10% of max’s Salary to try and get more. I dont hate this completely like the Subban, Sergechev and Galchenyuk deals, but I do
