  1. Oh I strongly disagree. That was a dirty slough foot move by Boychuk on Subban but PK narrowly missed the hit. White responded to that cheap shot with knuckles to his face ! It really stirred up the Habs bench too and they killed the extra penalty without any damage.
  2. Nice article Brian, and very timely too ! I'll add that the Gazette's writers commented on the likelihood of O'Byrne being moved during their Habsinsideout Puckcast that was released yesterday. I'll bet they never expected it would happen that soon. I seem to recall that Bournival impressed a lot of NHL teams at the Combine last May. Since fitness / athleticism is a big factor for Trevor Timmins, it makes sense that they would request a player like Bournival. I believe this is a decent trade, since the Habs could use more forward prospects, and O'Byrne will get a chance to play in Colorado, a western conference team that the Habs rarely see.
  3. In a way, it's probably better that the Habs did not sign Biron (or Lalime, Theodore, etc.) If Price has a bad game or two, heck even a bad period or two, then the francophone media will be calling for the backup ASAP. We, as Habs fans, have to be patient with Price, to let him rise up to this challenge. Maybe having another Western-Canadian goalie will be a good thing for Price, as both a veteran mentor and a possible country music-lover to vie for control of the locker room stereo. :-)
  4. I found this interview with Tinordi, from June 1st, thanks to The Pipeline Show. It's a hockey prospect's radio show out of Edmonton. I've also read that Tinordi's CHL rights are owned by London, so there's a chance he could play there in the fall, or the following fall if college doesn't work out. I thought it was interesting that during Tinordi's TSN interview that he thought he could be ready in around 3 years, so he much either be leaning towards his college committment or he thinks he needs that much more time for developing. http://www.thepipelineshow.com/clips/seaso...nordi_June1.mp3
  5. So Jarred Tinordi is their top pick, and they traded up for him ! Interesting.
  6. I had (quietly) thought before the trade was announced yesterday, that Montreal might try and deal Price to St. Louis, possibly for David Perron. But Gauthier has obviously hitched his team's wagon to Price, and we all had better hope that Price can handle that pressure and rise up to make everyone forget Halak's 2009-10 season and post season. If Halak turns out to be the next Steve Penny, then the media and fans will not care too much. If he turns out to be the next Tomas Vokoun (a solid, sometimes spectactular, but never a top 5 goalie in the league), then the trade could still be a wash for both sides so long as Eller progresses into a solid top-6 forward. However, if he rises to the league's goalie echelon, and improves on last season and the Blues become a contending club in the West, then the media & fan pressure will likely cause Price to cave/implode, and the Habs will again be looking to develop/trade for another goalie. Now, I'm sure Perron's name was mentioned during the discussions with the Blues management, but I'm ecstatic to be getting a player like Eller in return, and happy with Schultz, who is more of a longer term project. I was reading this article on Eller, which was dated around the middle of last season, and wanted to share it with you all. I love the compete factor that Eller has, to go with the skill and speed he possesses. Everyone has to have some patience with him, since the guy is still adjusting to playing in North America and is still learning English (by watching The Simpson on TV !). Even if he is not a starter with the Habs this fall, I am sure it will not take long before he's up with the big club to stay. http://www.globe-democrat.com/news/2010/fe...gressing-peori/
  7. What....a.....game! I can't be happier! I don't care who the Habs play, I hate both the Bruins and Flyers.
  8. Wow, what a game! I was at the edge of my seat for most of the game. The team still has room to improve (Lapierre, Kostitsyns), but most of the Habs showed up to play. Even Spacek, who I was cursing for meekly turning over the puck which lead to the first Caps goal, stepped up with some very good plays in the rest of the game. I love the fact that the Habs beat Theodore at home, where he's been undefeated since mid-January. I won't be surprised if the Capitals come back with Varlamov, in either game 2 or 3.
  9. I am interested in joining the league! Can someone post the rules or the url for the rules? Also, could I see the rosters of the teams to help decide which one to pick ?
  10. I like the talent analysis on the HF site on this prospect: "Palushaj boasts a good all-around game. He can snipe goals with his quick shooting, and his stickhandling and playmaking abilities are also strong. He doesn't mind physical play, willing to dig in the corners to win the puck." Palushaj was Pacorietty's team mate during his one year of college at the U. of Michigan. I am not sure that they were linemates, because I remember reading that Max had two older linemates (Kevin Porter and Chad Kolarik, both seniors and PHO prospects), but there's a decent chance that they played together at some time. He left college after 2 years, and averaged a little more than a point a game. W this being his rookie AHL season, he's managed to tie for 2nd on the team in goals scored, so I don't buy the reports that the guy is just a playmaker. I hope the Hamilton coaches consider him as a centre for some shifts, especially if Pyatt ends up staying in Montreal. To me, he sounds like a strong offensive prospect, who's still very young (20), with some two-way ability, but only average size. It's arguable that St. Louis is deeper in offensive prospects, when you look at they young players they have in the NHL and AHL, so they could gamble on moving Palushaj especially since he's not that close to NHL ready yet. I'm not sure why they are interested in D'Agostini, but I'm glad they agreed to the trade.
  11. Wow, this move surprises me, as much for the timing as for the content. I just hope that Gainey didn't decide to leave mid-contract because he was predicting / expecting that the Molson's were going to micro-manage him as a GM, but that would be a justifiable reason for Gainey (or anyone else) to leave. I don't want my team to become the George Steinbrenner-run Yankees of hockey! Or worse, to extend the analogy, the Harold Ballard-run Maple Leafs of the 70's & 80's.
  12. I'm interested in joining the HWL league. Can someone send me the league rules, and if a team is available, the roster of that team too ? habscout10@yahoo.com
  13. Here's a good audio interview on PK Subban, on Toronto's Fan590 radio station. http://pmd.fan590.com/radio/fan590/hotaudi...rp-20100206.mp3
  14. Well, this helps explain why Price has sat out the last 3 games in a row over the past 7 days. I agree with kaos. I just hope that Price responds with a big game, and the rest of the team backs him up on the ice.
  15. If an opening comes up for this league, I'd like to give it a try. I've tried once or twice in the past but have usually missed out.
  16. Unfortunately, that's Price's style for a lot of this season. Dallas is a struggling team lately, with a bad road record, and should be relatively busy to beat. So far that's not the case, as they're playing very well.
  17. It looks like TSN is now reporting this trade too, which hopefully means that it's official or close enough to it. Good riddance Kyle! http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=300758
  18. I like that message too, especially when it is targeted at 3rd and 4th line players who are vastly under producing. In last night's game, Chipchura was a -2, and I remember he was directly responsible for coughing up the puck in his own end, which lead to a goal against. He was skating along the boards in his own zone, and was forechecked by a Leaf forward, which lead to the turnover and eventual goal. I believe that his lack of speed, and apparently his hockey sense too, are not up to snuff at the NHL level. He was a good junior and an ok-AHL level player, but he's had a long enough time in this organization, and I'll be glad when this trade becomes official. With trading Latendresse and Chipchura, Gainey will have moved the slowest two players on his team's roster at the start of this season. It's arguable that the two of them are the slowest players in the NHL for that matter.
  19. I keep asking Todd how I can get an autographed copy of his book, but so far no answer. :-) Here's another interview, with Toronto's The Fan590 radio show. http://qml.quiettouch.com/files/radio/fan5...gp-20091106.mp3
  20. Here's an interesting article on Pyatt from his time as a Ranger's prospect. http://www.insidehockey.com/columns/1843
  21. The Gazette's HabsInsideout mentioned that Gionta had a therapy day instead of taking in practice.
  22. Congrats to author Todd Denault (T.C. Denault contributor to Habsworld) on his interview on the NHL XM Home Ice Radio show today. MP3
