  1. Beyond the time, a not inconsequential aspect, the issue I can see is that it is on a defenceless opponent.
  2. Thoughts and wishes are with his family and friends. From a purely hockey perspective, this could shake things up in the Atlantic ... if the Senators end up with a "good owner" it could make them formidable ... but it will be interesting to see who lines up to buy the team ... will the deep pocketed want to keep the team in Ottawa or might the team get (a) a "financially lesser" owner committed to keeping the team on Ottawa, or (b) a "Jeffrey Loria/Claude Brochu", running the team into the ground in order to move it ... and if it stays in the family, what will their priorities be.
  3. Unlike the Bob Mckenzie's of the world Boo-Boo has always struck me as a click-bait "woman-of-ill-repute" ... I think HoGo may look at some short-term veterans to mentor youngsters but nothing significant ... unless they manage to move several of Price, Gallagher, Petry, Drouin and Weber before free agency.
  4. True ... but that his slightly more than twice the odds of the second worst team ... and last guarantees at worst selecting third ... currently no worse than 5th
  5. But the "rest of field" odds get even better each slot they drop ... and ... the "worst case scenario" gets lower as well ... currently they could fall as far as 5th
  6. Interesting ... thanks ... I'll cheer for Tristen Luneau ... he is a fellow Trifluvian. 😊
  7. OR ... in deals for "Barron-ish" prospects ... meaning a year or two further down the development train that HoGo rate as good as what is available at a given pick ... I think that is what is meant by an accelerated rebuild, not necessarily signing veteran UFAs.
  8. Very true ... I think hab29RETIRED's point was that, until the draft order is established, the same would be true of a simple prospect ranking
  9. Slight tangent ... don't know about Barron but:
  10. What do you to you think the market will be for White once he is an UFA if bought out?
  11. 6'5", 214 lbs right-shot defenceman Noah Warren was the fastest in the 30M forward skate at the NHL Top Prospects Game testing ... he was also 5th fastest with the puck ... he is ranked #59 by TSN/Bob McKenzie and #45 by TSN/Craig Button ... right in the area (currently) of Edmonton's 2nd rounder if the Habs get it (i.e., Oilers don't advance to the Finals or, if they do, Duncan Keith is not in the top 4 in TOI in the first 3 rounds) ... just struck me as interesting that a defenceman with that size won.
  12. Barron can speak some French and undoubtedly will get better
  13. Thanks ... I had not seen it ... their transparency was impressive ... nothing startling, but more open than the last few Habs GMs had been ... I am certain it was a learning experience for Chantal ... I expect the next time they do this she will have pre-edited/translated and organized the questions rather than doing it on the fly.
  14. Vegas had teams pay them to take A or B or C but not X or Y ... Vegas got picks and the drafted ;layer who could then be used or traded ... that was my point ... Vegas would have received the 2nd rounder and Dillion, who they could have traded to Winnipeg for two 2nd rounders
  15. Skaters can shelter/support a goalie ... goalies can save the odd defensive mistake but can't help the skaters score ... can't recall the last team that was built from the goalie out that won a Cup ... great goalies have won Cups but not certain their teams were built with them as the foundation.
  16. Agree ... don't know how many teams exposed anyone that they would have given up draft picks to retain ... now WHO was selected by Francis is certainly fair game.
  17. It will be interesting to see how he is used in Edmonton.
  18. ... I could find some great bottom six/third pairing players Kidding ... mostly ... not looking to relitigate TT's draft record ... but the "slam" was just sitting there begging to be used.
  19. Agree ... he is not technically a rookie but it is his first extended time in the NHL ... makes projections somewhat difficult ... hopefully HoGo can strike a reasonable deal.
  20. Open the below tweet and find some nice news about Guhle
  21. I agree it doesn't force anything ... but as, I agree, TT wasn't part of their long-term plans then accommodating him builds respect and good will amongst both players and agents ... but I also agree it wasn't a "best I could get" dump but a "we think this is fair market value" trade ... also hard to say whether this value would have been higher at the deadline as he was not a pending UFA, the normal deadline profile.
