From a purely hockey perspective, this could shake things up in the Atlantic ... if the Senators end up with a "good owner" it could make them formidable ... but it will be interesting to see who lines up to buy the team ... will the deep pocketed want to keep the team in Ottawa or might the team get (a) a "financially lesser" owner committed to keeping the team on Ottawa, or (b) a "Jeffrey Loria/Claude Brochu", running the team into the ground in order to move it ... and if it stays in the family, what will their priorities be.

6'5", 214 lbs right-shot defenceman Noah Warren was the fastest in the 30M forward skate at the NHL Top Prospects Game testing ... he was also 5th fastest with the puck ... he is ranked #59 by TSN/Bob McKenzie and #45 by TSN/Craig Button ... right in the area (currently) of Edmonton's 2nd rounder if the Habs get it (i.e., Oilers don't advance to the Finals or, if they do, Duncan Keith is not in the top 4 in TOI in the first 3 rounds) ... just struck me as interesting that a defenceman with that size won.

Skaters can shelter/support a goalie ... goalies can save the odd defensive mistake but can't help the skaters score ... can't recall the last team that was built from the goalie out that won a Cup ... great goalies have won Cups but not certain their teams were built with them as the foundation.

I agree it doesn't force anything ... but as, I agree, TT wasn't part of their long-term plans then accommodating him builds respect and good will amongst both players and agents ... but I also agree it wasn't a "best I could get" dump but a "we think this is fair market value" trade ... also hard to say whether this value would have been higher at the deadline as he was not a pending UFA, the normal deadline profile.
