I can't stand hearing that both of our goalies need protecting from the coach because they are getting embarrassed. Every goalie in the league lets a soft one in every once in a while. The difference here is that our goalies are facing 40 shots a night and obviously the percentage of easy goals goes up as the shots increase. The number one reason for all these shots is the running around in our own zone and when we finally get control of the puck we get to centre and quasi dump it in. sometimes it actually gets in the offensive zone but half the time it's flipped right to the backpeddling defensemen. This only means puck possession again for the other team. It also translates into no shots or opportunities. No shots or opportunities means no chance for even "soft" goals. This team stinks. It has no heart and is counting on a defensive pairing that we had ten years ago. Keep the young guns, Tanguay, Markov, and Komi. Dump the rest of the trash heap this summer. Halak and Price will be fine, they just can't be counted on to get them to the playoffs unless they start playing the point on the PP.

my opinion, which doesnt mean much, but here it is; we don't have as much talent as everyone thinks. I think last years revival was a result of what the leafs did to us this tonight. We have some great players but motivation is a major factor. We were 8-1-2 and with a loss tonight our record is evident but people are tremendously upset. No need to be upset, I would have given my right testicle to know we would be 8-2-2 to start the season. Starting off as bad as we are and having the record we have can't be all bad. The boys will wake up. The only true question is will Mr. Price have some of the Mr. Roy in him to carry us through to the promised land. Don't know if Gainey is a genius or not, but if you are old enough to have watched the teams that he played on you will understand that you want a leader like him. He and Carbo for that matter. Both of them realized that it was not themselves individually that would win the cup, but team effort. Both of them played smart defensive hockey. Keying on the little things that make huge differences. Face-offs, blocking shots, getting back into the defensive zone. Those are men that you want leading a team.

The happiest Habs today is Kovalev. To have a talented assist man who doesn't carry and ego at all is going to be great for AK.

Tanguay

Not much difference between anyone that makes the playoffs and the two or three that will be just on the outside. It doesn't matter what team you cheer for, cause you are definitely a little nervous about that first round opponent. Ex. NJ fans are probably not over the moon about having to take on Buffalo, who has recently woken up. Anyone that gets dealt the Habs in the first round is crying about the powerplay and speed. I wouldn't want to play the Pens. The only teams that I would really think are weak are the Rangers and Flyers, and it's possible that neither even make it in. I bet we play Buffalo in the first round.

Hello All. I've been reading these boards for quite some time, but wanted to register to show my appreciation for two solid years of goaltending from Cristobal. Gainey is a genius. He essentially parlayed Mathieu Garon into a second round pick in 2009 with a couple really nice years from Huet in the middle. That's good GMing. Best of luck Huet. You'll be taking over for a good buddy I grew up with, Olaf. We paddled together in our youth. Best of luck. Ironically, this will work out well for Huet. The team he is going to is pretty much a clone of the Habs. Young and scary.
