GDT Apr. 1st, Canadiens vs. Senators - 19h00 EDT

As crazy as this might sound, we really need to show up tonight and beat up on teh lowly Sens! We need to show that the first few games where we struggled against the Hens was a fluke. Also, we need to take advantage of the games in hand!! We could be in 2nd position with a few wins! -
Looks lIke Toffoli won'T be playing tonight either! Hopefully he'll be good to go on Saturday!
-
I'm seriously starting to doubt that this team can make the playoffs...and even if we manage to squeak in, we'll be playin' the Leafs and will be wiped out in 4 games! How can a team dominate so much for the first 12 games and suck so much for the following 18 games?
-
That was a pathetic display in OT. It's like they were playing to NOT lose. The Lack of high end talent on this team is starting to cost us. That's 9 games we've lost in OT or SO. Pathetic!

Just finished watching the highlights. Looks like the boys played a solid game! Relieved to see Carey playing at the level we know he can play. Happy to see Danault finally get a goal after 1 full year! Too bad about Chiarot. I expect Romanov to take his spot next to the captain and Mete to join Kulak on the 3rd pair. I think tonight's game will really tell us if this team is the real deal. If they can actually win tonight against the Flames, I will be impressed!

Was about to make the same remark. It's getting to be a little worrisome that we can't seem to win a single game once the first 60 minutes are over. -
I'm worried about Price. I don't like what i'm seeing from him!
-
Ohhh! Good point!!
-
I expect to see them win a few games in a row (which is what usually happens when a team makes a coaching change). What I'm currious to see is how they will respond in 5 or 6 games from now!
-
I have to say i'm a little worried about this move by Bergevin. Seems like a panic move to me. I get that the PP has sucked for the past 5 years and that has been Muller's responsibility. I can understand letting Muller go, but I just don't think firing Julien was the move to do at this time.
-
You can bet your next paycheck that Bergevin will not leave Shea unprotected!
-
If they take Byron, then that's 3.5 millions$ less on teh payroll for a 31 year odl 4th liner. Don't get me wrong, I really like Byron, but for what he brings at the moment, he's paid too much money! As some else mentioned, I think most of the league knows by now that Allen isn't as good when he's the number 1 goalie. I think that might make Seattle think twice about taking him and making him their number 1. If they do decide to take him, then we've got Primeau who's waiting in Laval for the big show. By next year, Primeau will have played a full season as the no. 1 guy in Laval and will be more than ready to act as Carey's backup!
-
I have to say, I'm very surprised that we won this game...in regulation on top of that! Nice to see the boys push back against the Leafies. Maybe our boys can stand toe to toe with the Leafs?

Damn!

Geez...they've worn them once and lost. I kinda like the new jerseys!

Into the Abyss: the Carey Price debate
Habsfan replied to The Chicoutimi Cucumber's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
I would argue that the 2013-14 and 2014-15 Carey Price was Hasek level dominant. .927 and .934 save percentages on average teams. -
Into the Abyss: the Carey Price debate
Habsfan replied to The Chicoutimi Cucumber's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Agreed. I think you need to have at least ONE cup to have your number retired. Asking for two cups might be a little exagerated seeing as the Habs don't play in a 6 team league anymore and don't win the Cup every second year like they used to in the 50's, 60's and 70's. If Carey can help this team win ONE cup, then there's no doubt in my mind his number will be retired, but without a cup, not sure it's gonna happen! -

True that Andersen had to make more saves then Price, but Andersen's saves we easier to make compared to the saves Price had to make. The Leafs took a helluva lot more QUALITY shots compared the the Habs. MOst of the Habs shots came from the outside or wrist shots from 50 feet out. Their coach even said it after the game; last nights game was the game where they gave up the least amount of good chances all year...and that includes the games the Leafs played against the Canucks and the Hens. As far as Price giving up bad goals, I don't think any of the goals he gave up were as bad the goal given up by Andersen on the first goal. The shots that went by Price were top corner shots. They were precise. Not to mention that Holl's shot was a blast from just outside the faceoff circle (by the time he took the shot, he wasn't at the blue line anymore!!) Price couldn't do anything about the 3rd goal. No goalie could do anything about a goal like that! Having said all of this, even though I do have a tendancy of defending Price (mostly cause I also used to play in nets in my beer league) I have to admit that I haven't been impressed with Price over the past few seasons (with the exception of last falls playoffs) I'm worried that father time might be catching up to him! -

Really disappointed by the effort level in the 2nd period and a good portion of the 3rd. Was expecting them to show a little more like they wanted it! -

We're being dominated by a better team. 2 goals in 30 seconds. The way the Habs are playing tonight, its pretty much game over! -

I'm really not impressed with the way the Habs are playing tonight. They seem slow. Another lousy wrist shot without any traffic in front of Andersen and he makes an easy glove save. -

THat's three times now that we can't get it out of the zone. THe boys are playing like shit and the LEafs score! Was bound to happen!
