  1. They're doing it in chronological order, so I guess that means Bouchard won't be having his number retired, since he came before Savard and Dryden.
  2. Just out of curiosity, does anybody know how many points Ovechkin had against the Habs last year? I can't remember him scoring a goal against us. I think he might have had 1 assist in the 4 games. I could see why he would say the Markov is the toughest Dman he's played against.
  3. Mike Johnson's faceoff stats from last season: Faceoffs Won 104 Faceoffs Lost 130 Faceoff % 44.4 That is actually a very low winning percentage.
  4. They should just go all out and make drugs mandatory in Vancouver. Once everybody in the city is dead, there won't be a drug problem anymore.
  5. These yearly mags should be used as toilet paper.
  6. i have to disagree with you in saying that ryder disappeared in the playoffs. they won two games, and if i remember correctly, ryder scored 2 game-winning goals.
  7. eklund is an idiot. he is just some nobody with no connections who makes crap up for attention. i can't believe anybody takes him seriously.
  8. Nice to know that's going to happen now that I just moved to Calgary after having lived in Ontario for the last 27 years.
  9. 1. Carolina 2. Ottawa 3. NYRangers 4. Philadelphia 5. Montreal 6. Tampa Bay 7. Boston 8. Florida
  10. Canucks will suck this year. They're already at $35.45 mil, and they only have 12 players signed. So let's see.... $8.55mil left to sign about 10 or 11 players, and that would take them right up to the cap. Realistically they have about $6-6.5mil left if they want to leave themselves some room (which they would be crazy not to) That averages out to about $500k per remaining contract....Hope they have a good farm system :?-
  11. Too bad it's only one year but I'm glad to see that they got him for not too much. I was worried with arbitration he'd end up getting close to $3 mil. Gainey's done a great job getting everyone locked up this quickly, a lot of teams still have several unsigned players and are already close to the cap (See Vancouver Canucks). Now I just can't wait for training camp to see how the new guys do.
  12. I just read the whole thing beginning to end and I didn't see anything that remotely looked like a threat. What exactly are you referring to when you say he "threatens the newspaper" ?
  13. They have the best coaching staff they've had since I can't remember when, A smart GM who has won with another team, and the best group of young players they've had in years. (Ryder, Higgins, Pleks, Perez, Kosty). A few people have talked about how Higgins lit it up late last season and wondered if he can keep it up goal-scoring wise. The great thing about Higgins is that even when he's not scoring goals he doesn't hurt you because he does so much else on the ice. Some of his most impressive games last year were games where he didn't end up on the score sheet. We've two very good scoring lines with the addition of Samsonov, and a solid goalie who doesn't ever seem to get rattled (unlike a certain goalie we used to have). No question we should definitely be better than last year. I predict ~ 100 to 105 pts.
  14. LOL very funny. The Downey vs. Boulerice one is a classic though.
  15. If I remember correctly, I think he Mcguire said the Habs are guaranteed to win the Cup this year.
  16. The Ottawa Senators that exist today are a separate franchise from the earlier one. The only link is the name. The reason the Senators have banners hanging from their rafters is because they have not won anything of their own, so they are taking credit for another team's success. Ottawa is tied for last in Stanley Cups with a grand total of 0.
  17. If there are any Habs fans from western Canada here, I'm just wondering if you can get RDS out there? I'm going to be moving to Calgary in a few months and I'd like to know if you get the games or do you have to have satellite or something like that? I live in Ottawa right now and I don't have cable, I just get the Saturday games and listen to the rest on CKAC, but obviously I won't be able to listen to them on the radio from Calgary.
  18. On the Team 1200 (Ottawa) this morning, when asked about possible playoff matchups for the senators, maguire commented that they would not want to play the Devils, but that they shouldn't worry at all about playing the Canadiens or Lightning. He said that they would easily expose tampa's defence and goaltending, or Montreal's goaltending, which he says is "way overrated". interesting...
  19. I agree for the most part with your list. i would like to see ribeiro, dagenais, zednik, and bonk go. i like zednik and i think he's a good goal scorer but he just doesn't show up often enough. i don't think you necessarily have to get a first line player in a trade. just some players who are willing to work. i'd also like to see the rookies get more ice time.
  20. LOL obviously i don't expect bettman to do anything about it. I'm sure he will delete my email without a second thought. Just letting him know what i think and letting of a little steam. I'm still pissed about that game.
