johnnyhasbeen
I need the Sens to win or my home life will be crap for 3 months. The wife will never get over a loss in the final. Cheering for them mainly for her and to put it to the CBC announcers who seem bent on their faillure. Why isn't Canada's network behind the last Canadian team? They loved Calgary. Is it because they cover to many Leaf games and are all fans? If so, shame on them, it must be rough being as hockey ignorant as Don Cherry. (personally I have been compared to him for stating the simple fact that Canadians desire for the cup is higher than Europeans. LMAO. How many of the european fans on here stayed out until the street lights came on playing street hockey for the stanley cup every night as kids? Now Canadian fans, how many of you did. Case and point? I have never attacked the talent of those players, just the importance of the cup to them.) This in mind, I have been very impressed with Alferdson's leadershipship throughout the playoffs. Unlike the past years where he has diasappeared, he has been a real force. Maybe, as hasek said, it just takes time ofr imports to get the desire to win this thing. Please don't take me wrong and think I am a prejudiced person. There is just a drive, deep inside a hockey player that comes out at key times. For some it is Stanley cup finals, others worlds, others olympics.... It varies but what is most important in a persons heart. I have seen a Saku Koivu playing for Finland that was super dominant both on the ice and the bench. I have seen this same guy show up quite regularly in Montreal as well. What I am having a real hard time with still, is the effort in the game vs Toronoto that would have put us in this year. What was it, 40 shots on us? In a make or break vs Leafs? I hope I never see such a display again. Edited May 21, 2007 by johnnyhasbeen

Psycing
Ducks are in, so I will not be routing for the Sens. In my opinion, Anaheim is the only team that can stop Ottawa at this point, given their great defensemen.

There is a reason that the MVP from the playoffs has often always been a Canadian. Alfe's passion for winning in this years playoffs need to be recognized and I do hope he'll get the vote for MVP. He has earned it! And again let me offer my sympathies as you support your wife's team in the playoffs. You should be given a medal of some sort too... And as a Canadian/Canadiens fan and although I cannot stand the SENS; I will be cheering for Canada and a Canadian team to bring the cup home where it belongs. North of the border. In my opinion, Anaheim is the only team that can stop Ottawa at this point, given their great defensemen. I prefer Ottawa's D over Anaheim. Niedermayer is one heck of a hockey player, alright. Pronger is overrated and he won't be able to follow either the puck or the sens first line forwards. He's not impossible to beat. Besides those 2 they have Beauchemin, but he's overused at 30+ min/game. And now, try to name the rest of their D?!! Ottawa's D is unbelievable. The duo of Phillips and Volchenkov is near perfection. Corvo and Preissing are great offensive dman, and pretty decent defensively.. and they are Ottawa's 3rd pairing! Redden-Meszaros is a pretty solid first pairing. Defenetly more depth here. Pierre the Great
I only root for teams that are from Canada or have a hockey tradition in the states. Anaheim is just a bunch of strip malls , poor people mixed with super rich stuck up valley girls.

What's wrong with Disney? There would be so fewer great movies without Disney. Plus the Ducks are no longer Mighty and no longer owned by Disney. Red Scare Red Scare fear the commies! As he'd say: sure. I talked to a guy at community college last semester. He said he'd never go to Canada because its full of socialists and communists. I rolled my eyes and laughed. But if you think about it Robin Hood is a form of class struggle. lol And Robin Hood had his own army too, promising to change the way things were, omg that's like fidel! And he wore a green outfit! hahaha Anyway GO Sens

It's just the Mighty Ducks thing for me - not the actual company. I should have been a bit more precise in what I wrote.... bowing down with apologies and humility at this time(I need an emoticon now!) GO SENS GO..... Habsfan24
Went out to watch the Ottawa game in the Market last night and after the game you could hear a pindrop anywhere. Lot's of police out but I didn't see any trouble which is good. Maybe they are waiting to win before people go nuts.
JoeLassister
Ducks ALL the way. Seriously Ducks in 5, i'm sure someone important as Spezza,Alfredsson, Redden, etc will get injured by those machine a la Getzlaf, Perry, Penner, Pronger, R Nieds. They are just too strong. I've been saying this on October 5th : Habs for the cup, then Ducks or Oilers. And, for those who want the Cup back to Canada : I'm totally against that !!! Montréal is the last Canadian team who won the Cup and everytime i remember this, it puts up a smile on my face
Mont Royale
And, for those who want the Cup back to Canada : I'm totally against that !!! Montréal is the last Canadian team who won the Cup and everytime i remember this, it puts up a smile on my face I might agree, if the time since the last Cup was shorter. But it's been 14 years. At this point, it's nothing to be happy about as a Habs fan, and pretty embarrassing for teams from Canada generally.
JoeLassister
and pretty embarrassing for teams from Canada generally. and? i don't care about other Canadian teams. Ottawa and Toronto might fly their plane on each others and i won't blink an eye (ok maybe i'd blink) It's ALL about Montréal for me!!!! I share those sentiments, but if you don't care about other Canadian teams, why does it make you smile that Montreal is the last CANADIAN team to win the Cup? At best it's a useless fact, and at worst it reminds me how long it's been - neither are smile-inducing.

I think what he intended was that rather than not caring about other Canadian teams he actually hates them and wishes anything but success for their franchise. Pierre the Great
I see Canada in the NHL like the lost tribes of Israel. Got to all round up and stay together to defeat the enemy considering there are just as many teams in the NY/NJ area and California as Canadian teams. I find that appalling.
