Habs vs. Bruins | Game Thread

We're getting outcoached badly!

It's not -that- bad. As much as our PP sucked, our PK rules. And overall we've had about as much scoring chances as they have. It just looks bad because the B's manage to spend more time in our zone... and the Lang line blows.

I think last year really hurt us. The team over achieved and Gainey though we were a tough guy and a winger away from the cup. He let Streit go, which killed our PP. (he did attempt to get Sundin, so props for that).

The fact remains that we are progressing, but last year was an abberation. It got our hopes up. We are a playoff contender, not a cup contender.

If Gainey can land a Vinny by trading some of our soft forwards, I think that would be a huge step in the right direction. Add in a reliable defenseman who can actually shoot for the PP and we will move up a notch.

For the record, I suspect Boston is over achieving too. They remind me of us last year where all the young guys were having career years. They might fold in the playoffs like we did, but they are tougher for sure.

The only difference I see from last year from the Habs is Kovy, who elevated Plex & Akost last year and dragged them down this year. I mean most of the other players on the roster are upgrades on last year: Markov, Price, Gorges, Lapierre, Latendresse, Lang.

PP Habs...

Better work this time.

Great, Saku & Lang not on the same unit

MUUUUCH better PP... and Kovy's not on it.

I agree, but I don't think Pleks is as good as last year made some people believe... Higgins too.

Kovalev probably has to go.. one good season is not enough.. we need a guy who has skill and energy..

well, as predicted.. they gave up a lead and Boston will trap them into the ground...

ans what is wrong with that?? I wish our coach had the brains to do the same. This team is going to have to be much better to overcome their handicap behind the bench.

Bah.. the problem is the players on the ice, not the coach. What do you want him to do? He had a good game plan but it required the team to play tight, not give the puck away in their own end. He benched Kovy and is playing the guys willing to compete. Unfortunately, none of our skill players fall into the category.

Game plan...that is the problem. There is none. They've got more talent than Boston but do you see the difference??

There was a gameplan and it was working. It was to play a tight defensive game, come out hard, and no lose stretch passes. It has worked. We are down one goal.

As for the talent level, they Bruins are at the top of the leader boards in many categories. I don't see too many habs up there. The bruins have skill players, they have grinders, and they have two of the top goalies in the league. Check it out. they are number one in the east for a reason.

not sure if this has been said yet... but...

worst player on the ice today... no question... KOVALEV!!

What is it with this guy? he plays great when he's wearing the C and then plays like garbage when Koivu is back.
