kuternoga
The @MapleLeafs have acquired Nashville's first round pick in 2015 along with Brendan Leipsic and Olli Jokinen in exchange for defenceman Cody Franson and forward Mike Santorelli. dlbalr
That's not a bad deal for the Leafs. Instead of getting a 2nd for Franson and one for Santorelli (or a 3rd), they get a 1st and a decent prospect. Good move for them and Nashville's already-strong defence gets even better. DON
a 1st pick for Perron and now for Franson, I guess Coyotes will be hoping for a 1st + for Vermette eh.

At least Perron has another year on his deal, it's not a pure rental like Franson. I don't see the Coyotes getting a 1st rounder for Vermette though. A top four D (that shoots right handed) is harder to get than a second line forward, no matter how versatile Vermette may be which will make the cost for Franson higher. Hope they end up just out. Good for Subban's 2nd Norris chances also.

dlbalr
Both Luongo and Montoya were injured against the Leafs tonight and were forced to leave the game. It's 2-2 early in the 3rd and the Panthers are scrambling to find an emergency goalie to finish the game. This could be interesting... Edit: A visibly-injured Montoya returned after an 11 minute delay to try to gut it out. Wow.

dlbalr
A bit of a weird situation in Philly as their goalie coach resigned a few days ago. The believed reason is that he was increasingly frustrated with the way the Flyers were handling Steve Mason. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/sports/flyers/Flyers-goaltending-coach-Jeff-Reese-leaves-organization-abruptly.html
JoeLassister
Tampa Bay just lost Palat (2-3 weeks), Coburn (4-6 weeks) and Paquette (10-14 days). Could help us.

DON
Come on 3 on 3!!! NHLPA will likely reject eh, but will be too bad, is at least wide open pond hockey-like and not idiotic shootout.
dlbalr
I'm not a 3-on-3 fan but at the same time, I'm not a shootout fan either. This appears to be one of those 'lesser of two evils' situations...
JoeLassister
François Gagnon, from RDS, is saying that the cap will be 71-72M$ next season. DON
It was expected to be right round there anyways wasn't it? How many teams will need to do fancy footwork post-season, to get their stars signed and stay under cap? (I miss CapGeek ) Can Habs realistically add more cap$$ to defense and sign Petry? Markov-Subban, Beaulieu-Petry would seem a good foursome come the fall.

Markov-Subban, Beaulieu-Petry would seem a good foursome come the fall. Realistically, they could only do that if they move out Gilbert and even then it may not be enough. That blueline (with Gilbert gone) would cost around $26-27 million which would be among the most expensive in the NHL.

Which is fine, not a lot of teams can say they have a duo on the backend like Subban and Markov.

kuternoga
Maybe it's not 2014-15 but Ilya Kovalchuk wants to return to the NHL in 2016-17. No thanks.
habs rule
Maybe it's not 2014-15 but Ilya Kovalchuk wants to return to the NHL in 2016-17. No thanks. There is a big question whether he can. I have a feeling that if he wants to come back there will be some rule adjusting done.
