ch_nl
Janne Niinimaa is the best defenceman that have a passport that says: Finnish. He's that good. Underrated. On the Habs I only rank Markov higher and not by much. I've seen Niinimaa a lot since he's one of my favourite players and this is a great upgrade on defence for the Habs. TheAussiePosse
So he's fast and offensive-minded, but is capable of pulling a Souray/Rivet, and has been regarded as a failure - until now...?
Pierre the Great
he don't score much nor is a good assist man according to tsn.
ch_nl
Niinimaa is much better than Rivet. He's more complete than Souray. He had a great rookie-season in Philly. I think he has been traded for another player plus a second round pick twice since then. Raffi Torres and Brad Isbister I think it was... Could be misstaken. JANNE NIINIMAA, what a night! Not sure you have the right player. Rivet is better offensively and defensively and Souray is way better offensively and probably jsut as adequate on defense. Niinima will definitley skate better than most. But to say he is a better defensman than those two is incorrect. I'd see him partnering with Dandenault on the 3rd paring for now. Montreal will probably dress 7 defensman most nights when Bouillon is healthy
simonus
Janne wore #4 in Dallas and #44 for the Finns. What do you think he goes for here?
Cataclaw
He's a player in sharp decline in all aspects of the game. Uhhhh, am i the only one who raised an eyebrow at that sentence? Doesn't sound good. Hope he proves TSN wrong!

Habitforming
Janne wore #4 in Dallas and #44 for the Finns. What do you think he goes for here? 4 is retired and then some, and 44 is Souray (who has the most seniority between them??) my guess would be 22. Athlétique.Canadien
It's a fair acquisition. Niinimaa is fast. He can rush the puck and is a good quarterback on the point or the PP. He is a concern defensively down low and the high slot. But, I'm still delighted.
bbr93
Janne wore #4 in Dallas and #44 for the Finns. What do you think he goes for here? He's gonna take #444. I'm pretty sure it's still available.
newf
I love Bob making this deal... Janni is going to play a huge part in this team before the year is out... I just get the feeling he will show a lot of leadership and give us that extra steadiness on the blueline... as well as being a solid contributer! Bob Gainey is the man!!! :king:
