He played harder than at any point this year, and went to the net a few times. On MaxPax's goal, he was actually closer to the net. And I think everyone appreciated the massive hit in open ice. We also need our D to score more. That's a given. Which leaves one M-A Bergeron as a tough case for Habs fans, and probably coaching and management. He *can* produce the offence, but he can't be relied on in any consistent defensive fashion. He needs someone beside him who can try to clean up his messes, and then he needs to make faster, better decisions getting the puck out of the zone and following up the attack. I think he's trying to do too much right now, and therein lies his failure. Simplify, do what you do best, and when it's not there, chip the glass and don't try the insane pass. As far as I'm concerned, he also has to move the puck far more quickly. Particularly on the PP. He tends to look solely for the shot and will corral the puck and slide along the blue line to find it. When Gill will be back, I see him playing as a specialist. He should not play on defense, strictly on the PP. And why not give him a few shifts on the wing, like Streit used to do? Ya, I got a bad feeling that old Gomer will be the goat for the next 4 years. I can actually see us buying him out by the end of next season, unless he picks up his game. Our new first line (until Gomez and Gionta gets back) is Cammalleri - Plekanec - Kostitsyn. I don't forsee a solid 2nd line until the 2 G's come back. I think Martin may try to keep Pac Pleks Ak46 togehter unless they get behind again, At least start with Cammi Metro and Moen foir the time being, see what happens.
