  1. I dont think Marner is at the level of Monahan in terms of trade value. i think the leafs will get something for him, rather than having to pay another team to take him.
  2. The leafs need toughness to win in the playoffs. They also were 1-4 with Auston Matthews in the playoff lineup and 2-0 without him Anderson and Savard for Matthews makes sense.
  3. Depends on the draft. Kk was the wrong pick cause after him we have Hughes, Tkachuk, Dobson, Boucher, etc. Galchenyuk... you only have Rielly who is any good. The draft kinda sucked.
  4. His passing is an issue in this chart. He makes a high volume of passes to the slot but with very little success in doing so. Tends to line up.with those questioning his hockey IQ. The other thing to remember is that this chart is 11 games tracked. Just with the volume of junior games, they are never as good as NHL tracking which is every game. (They areng bad but you need a grain of salt with them.
  5. Ottawa hired Travis Green. Rumor was Berube wanted to wait and see what other jobs were available and didnt want to sign anything with ottawa right away and then ottawa moved on.
  6. Yes but the odds of getting 3 heads in a row, before you throw the first one are .5 x .5 x .5 = 12.5%
  7. We just have these narratives that people put as Facts, with no evidence. Sometimes its Hughes and Gorton only draft big players. Now its Hughes and Gorton don't like Mailloux and want to trade him. There is no evidence of this.... lets stop pretending its a fact. Could they trade Mailloux? Could they draft a player with size? Of course. But even if they do that, it means they think the trade was best for the team, or the player draffted was best on their board. Until proven otherwise let's assume that management is making their moves cause they are trying to improve the hockey team, not cause they have some other narrative in mind.
  8. I'm surprised Shanahan isn't already gone. That said I think he stays now, cause it would be really rare to fire the coach today and then fire upper management later. Usually it would all happen at once, or upper management would go first. Its rare the firings start at the bottom and move up.
  9. If you can't find a trade up partner, then trade the fifth pick for a young gamebreaking forward. If you still can't find a trade partner, make the pick and take the best forward on your board (unless a defenceman is SOOOO much higher that it makes no sense to pass him up. If the two players are close, take the forward). We need elite talent, not more picks.
  10. Exactly right. He might be better than Petry was at the same age, but many defenders were better than the 21 year old Petry. The growth that Petry took to become a top 20 level defenceman in the NHL at his peak is not normal and is not repeated by all D in his range at age 21.
  11. I have no interest in trading down. I'm more about trading up. For most teams i'd say trade down but not the Habs. We have lots of good prospects but lack a top end forward prospect. We don't need to trade down for more good prospects, we need to find a great one.
  12. What gives you the impression that this management is afraid of Mailloux. Was it that they called him up to play the final game this season, and got almost no media backlash for doing so? Where does this narrative that HuGo is afraid of how the media will react and trade him? Is this again just making things up out of whole cloth to take shots at management?
  13. I think this is the correct interpretation. Aho's offersheet was the max it could be without giving up a second first round pick. It was a gamble but a well calculated one. The Hurricanes matched it but clearly they werent happy about it (no matter what they said publically). They took the first opportunity on a revenge sheet, despite it being a terrible move for them. They also got extremely petty about it, in the terms of the deal, adding in little numbers to allude back to the Aho deal, and in their social media. They clearly got rattled.
