  1. Past hour
  2. Agreed, likely too high for the Habs to be able to trade up high enough to get another pick to grab him. I am thinking if you could get another pick at say 15 then you could grab someone like a Liam Greentree perhaps. I just hope the Habs can get an impact forward at 5.
  3. I know, just more update thats all. Isles/Carolina 1-1 after 2nd.
  4. I always exclude NHL Central Scouting (four separate lists renders their ranking useless I-M-O for this sort of purpose) and the highest and lowest ranking ... Not much difference ... drops him to 9th ... still below where the Habs likely draft but high enough that it would be difficult to "trade/trade-up" for a pick to grab him.
  5. The original question was because @Helmethead seemed to imply that Nylander could have played but that TO chose to sit him.
  6. Engstrom 0pts 19:21 in OT loss, down 3-1 in finals.
  7. I was also a university student during the 93 cup run. I was doing an internship during the spring/sunmer and didn’t get off until game time. Missed the first period of game 1 because of the time it took to get home. For game two, Instead of going home and missing part of the game, I went to the gym at work and watched the game 2 while working out. It was a marathon workout session with the OT. I left work early for game 5, and got a lot flack at work for leaving early to watch a hockey game!!! It was definitely worth it. I still remember Roy’s awkward “going to Disneyland” plug, that seemed to be common for MVP’s those days. Haven’t seen anyone do that in a long time.

  9. Today
  10. Although I never experienced the Habs winning a cup from a fan perspective I did get to experience Greece winning the Euro in 2004. That was without a doubt the GREATEST team sport upset in the history of all team sports. Over 100k Greeks taking over the the city, from ParkEx down park Ave through downtown. I still get goosebumps.
  11. There's another poster here that really likes him. LOL Helenius seems to have a really well rounded skill set, excellent skater, hard worker, high IQ. It blows my mind that in a couple mock drafts he isn't even listed in the top 30. I think this looks like the kind of draft where it would be great to have a couple picks in the top 15 to grab that guy that unexpectedly falls. San Jose already has a couple picks in the top 15 (thanks Pittsburgh), maybe they could be persuaded to trade their 2nd 1st rounder for the Habs Winnipeg pick (plus other assets of course). But that rarely happens.
  12. You and me both! There have been two times in my life that I've randomly hitched on to a playoff season and went along for the ride. While still a huge fan, 92-93 season was especially so for me. Senior at university, had a job, bought tickets for every single home game that year. The retail store I worked in (Radio Shack) had a touch tone phone, so I'd go to the store to make the call to purchases tickets from the box office the second they went on sale. My boss was an avid fan too, and she'd be on the other line, and would hand me the phone if she got through first. (I mention this because my home phone was still a rotary dial. For round 1, it was so slow to dial that I was only able to get standing room tickets). That was a magical year for 20-something year old me. 2 years ago, we decided to jump on the Avs train and missed only one home game (the first one). We bought tickets for every game afterward. We even went to the watch party at the rink when they broadcast the game from TB on the scoreboard. While a very cool feeling to be part of that Cup run, it still doesn't match the raw emotion of the '93 playoffs. For me, nothing in the sports world, as a fan, will match the Habs winning a Cup.
  13. Agree 100%, I had visions of the Habs signing him as a UFA or getting a good deal in a trade for him but something is just not right with him.
  14. I’ve been on this forum for almost 20yrs and every time you mention this I hard core envy you. I was a high school junior living in Greece, pre internet, with ZERO hockey coverage other than the 2 day old USA Today’s that our school library had on those newspaper sticks. My cousin in Montreal called our house at 5am waking me the whole household up to tell us the news. Luckily for me he taped game 5 on VHS and sent it to me via mail so I could watch. I am turning 48 next month and have still not seen the Habs win the cup live. (Was in Greece on vacation in 1986)
  15. Watching the Avs/Jets series, one player I've never paid a ton of attention to has stood out to me. Josh Morrisey. He seems to me like the best player on the ice for the Jets thus far. MacKinnon quietly has 5 points in 3 games, but if that second line gets going like they did last night, I think they'll make it through. Mittelstadt seems to be getting comfortable.
  16. Watching the Jets-Avs highlights ... the turnover looked good on Scheifele on Lehkonen's 4-2 goal
  17. Liking what I’m reading.. https://theathletic.com/5435518/2024/04/27/konsta-helenius-2024-nhl-draft/?source=user_shared_article
  18. Yes, definitely want the Avs to win. Going in I really thought the Jets were going to win as they entered the playoffs on a heater (won 8 in a row) beats the Avs all 3 times this year and had the better goaltending. But the playoffs are always a new story and Hellebucyk has been less than stellar. Still a long way to go.
  19. Me too The keys are crisp fries ... rich, hot gravy ... and ... room-temperature curds. Cold curds "eat up" too much heat from the gravy and too often do not even melt.
  20. The Aves skaters are just better than Hellebuyck. Lehkonen doing well and Parise is still smart player. Speed of Mackinnon and quickness of Makar dosent hurt. 3points/game, someone seems to be making most of playoffs so far. Will the Isles and or Tampa be swept today?
  21. but I love poutines! LOL … bathing in that sauce 🤪
  22. Zegras and it’s not even close. Even if his contact wasn’t abysmal Dubois would break faster that a gravy drenched poutine fry in Montreal.
  23. he is not a player the Habs should try to get; but the question was between the two centers which one would we trade for. I think the Habs are better off continuing building with the prospects they have
  24. Bit of a scary first period by Vancouver but they played a dynamite second period and a strong third too. Preds are doing everything they can to inflict pain on the Nucks. Tons of hard hits but lots of dirty stuff going on. Two more wins Vancouver 🎉 Didnt watch the Jets game but I’m happy with the outcome. I want the best draft pick possible.
  25. I'd pass on Dubois. The $ and length of his contract are too long to be worth any risk of taking it on. It's funny because for years I always had a countdown for the year that Dubois would be a UFA with happy thoughts of him signing with the Habs. However, I now have absolutely no interest in getting him. I honestly think the Habs dodged a huge bullet not getting him from the Jets when he demanded a trade.
