  1. Today
  2. Team went on a 1025 PDO bender this year. Can they repeat it?
  3. Personally he's #2 on my list but its close with Demidov and can see why most have him 2.
  4. Very interesting, are Button and Commandant the same person?? Both love Helenius. I really like Iginla too, Habs will get a good forward. Craig’s List: Konsta Helenius, Tij Iginla push into top five | TSN
  5. Its common and bad practice. I agree with that. But the oilers are currently using Skinner, which is the same position theyd be in if they never signed Campbell and could have 5 million more to pay another dman or give Draisaitl a raise.
  6. Should be interesting, next thing is the NHL combine in couple weeks.
  7. Strongly disagree with that statement. It's common in the NHL when a team is desperate for position and the free agency options are limited. It happens almost every year. It's a bad practice, but still a very common occurrence.
  8. In the Wheeler/Pronman projection, they think that each of the Chicago, Anaheim and Columbus would choose a D-man (Levshunov, Silayov and Dickinson, respectively), that's how they saw Demidov (and Lindstrom) being available to the Habs.
  9. Would you pick Helenius before Lindstrom? But after Demidov?
  10. I've said it before, I'm as convinced on Helenius as I was on Quinn Hughes. He's gonna make it big.
  11. Craig is always different from consensus, but if you look at a real NHL scouts individual lists, they are closer to Craig than to consensus. Also Helenius at 3 gets a thumbs up from me.
  12. Lack of options is not a reason to overspend on a long-term contract. Campbell was extremely unproven, a high draft pick who flopped in Dallas/LA, eventually worked his way into being a backup, and then played well for half a season as a starter in Toronto. It was a disaster from the day it was made and I said it at the time.
  13. Rangers are sloppy as hell in their own zone and that Tkachuk goal was really weak. Hopefully it’s just the resting jitters and they get their Dzone game in order. The Rangers rush is savage though and I’m not sure that Florida can stop it. Rangers had a bunch of great chances in the first.
  14. The year Campbell was signed there wasn't much in the way of quality goalies available. MAF, Georgiev and Campbell. At the time Campbell appeared to be a starter with a question mark. MAF was too expensive. So it was either Campbell or Georgiev and I don't know if Georgiev was interested. It was a bad situation, but you can easily see why they signed Campbell, and when there are few goalies available the price will go up. Nurse was bad right from the get go, like horribly bad.
  15. Canada vs Slovakia tomorrow at 2:00 I'm curious to watch Guhle try and handle Slafkovsky. Slaf is going to have an NHL centre tomorrow for the first time this tournament.
  16. Yeah there are some “scandalous” picks there
  17. Somehow strikes me as somewhat click-bait-ish ... bound to get LOTS of attention.

  19. Craig Button's new Top 20: 1. Celebrini 2. Demidov 3. Helenius 4. Iginla 5. Parekh 6. Buium 7. Levshunov 8. Dickinson 9. Eiserman 10. Lindstrom 11. Yakemchuk 12. Sennecke 13. Parascak 14. Catton 15. Solberg 16. Silayev 17. Emery 18. Brandsegg-Nygard 19. Miettinen 20. Luchanko
  20. There have been lots of people saying they love Demidov. I haven't heard the same on Lindstrom. I haven't heard they don't like him either... but there just hasn't been credible reporting on the interest or lack thereof. Demidov is the clear one they have their eyes on if they move up, from all I've heard. They see him in a totally different light to Michkov. They like Demidov's compete levels at both ends and attitude way more than they did with Michkov.
  21. It's fun to project/guess who the Habs may take at 5, likely a forward, however that will be dependent on who the teams drafting before them take (Captain Obvious statement). It seems to me that if there is a forward they really want to get (ie Demidov or Lindstrom) then Anaheim is the obvious partner if they want to trade up. Of course, as we have noted, those trades are a rare occurrence.
  22. Athletic did two rounds of draft with Wheeler and Pronman. Their selections: 5. Montreal Canadiens (Pick by Wheeler): Ivan Demidov, RW, SKA St. Petersburg With a young group of D coming, and a year after taking one at No. 5, the Habs jump on the second-best forward in the class and grab the potential game-breaker they need. 26. Montreal Canadiens (Pick by Wheeler): Lucas Pettersson, C, Modo After taking a winger with their first pick, the Habs grab the well-liked Swedish center with their second pick. C’s like Beaudoin, Hage, and Boisvert would make some sense here if one of them is available as well. 57. Montreal Canadiens (Pick by Pronman): Simon Zether, C, Rogle Zether is a big center with good offensive skills and competitiveness who held his own at the SHL level this season although his skating is just OK.
