  1. Today
  2. The misery in Leafs Nation is warming my soul.
  3. I won't say too much until the Bruins win one more game. Then I will just smile a bit on the inside and have a nice restful sleep.
  4. Nothing makes me happier than watching the maple leafs disintegrate.
  5. LMAO at the HNIC crew looking dejected as if all their dogs just died. Poor leaf’s are losing you homers 👌
  6. I’m hoping they use the Calgary pick, Winnipeg pick and one of our young defenders to either get us a top 6 forward or to get a pick around 12 this year. I want Parekh too but man we need top 6 forwards in our system
  7. Bruins are playing masterful team defence. There is a bruin on a leaf instantly. Leafs have no room to make plays or to pass. Bruins are playing really, really well IMO

  9. Getting two picks in the top 12-15 would be ideal. Would probably allow us a SLIGHT chance to get one of the following combos: -Helenius/ Eiserman or Iginla -Parekh Eiserman or Iginla ideal situation is we win the lottery AND trade up to the 10-12 pick range. If are lucky enough to win the lottery, I think we’d be one year away from having the pieces not only to be a playoff team, but two years away from being a legit contender. This draft is crucial, can’t have a KK type Fxck up. There are some seriously good forward prospects this year, and if we can get the right guy it make make up for passing on Leonard last year. I would have preferred taking Leonard last year and Parekh this year. Irrespective of the draft, we need at least two forwards in addition to a healthy Dach to make meaningful progress next year. I doubt if there is anyone we draft that makes a huge difference next year. That’s why as much as I’d like us to move our Winnipeg pick and young D and/or other picks, to get a higher first round pick, I think Hughes will probably move the first pick in another Dach/Newhook type deal.
  10. And hard to predict who will be available!
  11. Of course, that's what makes the draft so interesting.
  12. 2-2 going into OT2 now. Three of the four goals scored on power plays: only one even-strength goal in spite of the total of 80 shots on net.
  13. Each team will have their own ranking, though, so even if the lists above are credible, every team will be different, even assuming they pick the best player available. So, the Habs could possibly rank Helenius at 5, another team could rank him at 4, or all the top teams rank him outside the top 15. We'll find out soon what position the Habs actually pick in.
  14. Agreed, likely too high for the Habs to be able to trade up high enough to get another pick to grab him. I am thinking if you could get another pick at say 15 then you could grab someone like a Liam Greentree perhaps. I just hope the Habs can get an impact forward at 5.
  15. I know, just more update thats all. Isles/Carolina 1-1 after 2nd.
  16. I always exclude NHL Central Scouting (four separate lists renders their ranking useless I-M-O for this sort of purpose) and the highest and lowest ranking ... Not much difference ... drops him to 9th ... still below where the Habs likely draft but high enough that it would be difficult to "trade/trade-up" for a pick to grab him.
  17. The original question was because @Helmethead seemed to imply that Nylander could have played but that TO chose to sit him.
  18. Engstrom 0pts 19:21 in OT loss, down 3-1 in finals.
  19. I was also a university student during the 93 cup run. I was doing an internship during the spring/sunmer and didn’t get off until game time. Missed the first period of game 1 because of the time it took to get home. For game two, Instead of going home and missing part of the game, I went to the gym at work and watched the game 2 while working out. It was a marathon workout session with the OT. I left work early for game 5, and got a lot flack at work for leaving early to watch a hockey game!!! It was definitely worth it. I still remember Roy’s awkward “going to Disneyland” plug, that seemed to be common for MVP’s those days. Haven’t seen anyone do that in a long time.

  21. Although I never experienced the Habs winning a cup from a fan perspective I did get to experience Greece winning the Euro in 2004. That was without a doubt the GREATEST team sport upset in the history of all team sports. Over 100k Greeks taking over the the city, from ParkEx down park Ave through downtown. I still get goosebumps.
  22. There's another poster here that really likes him. LOL Helenius seems to have a really well rounded skill set, excellent skater, hard worker, high IQ. It blows my mind that in a couple mock drafts he isn't even listed in the top 30. I think this looks like the kind of draft where it would be great to have a couple picks in the top 15 to grab that guy that unexpectedly falls. San Jose already has a couple picks in the top 15 (thanks Pittsburgh), maybe they could be persuaded to trade their 2nd 1st rounder for the Habs Winnipeg pick (plus other assets of course). But that rarely happens.
  23. You and me both! There have been two times in my life that I've randomly hitched on to a playoff season and went along for the ride. While still a huge fan, 92-93 season was especially so for me. Senior at university, had a job, bought tickets for every single home game that year. The retail store I worked in (Radio Shack) had a touch tone phone, so I'd go to the store to make the call to purchases tickets from the box office the second they went on sale. My boss was an avid fan too, and she'd be on the other line, and would hand me the phone if she got through first. (I mention this because my home phone was still a rotary dial. For round 1, it was so slow to dial that I was only able to get standing room tickets). That was a magical year for 20-something year old me. 2 years ago, we decided to jump on the Avs train and missed only one home game (the first one). We bought tickets for every game afterward. We even went to the watch party at the rink when they broadcast the game from TB on the scoreboard. While a very cool feeling to be part of that Cup run, it still doesn't match the raw emotion of the '93 playoffs. For me, nothing in the sports world, as a fan, will match the Habs winning a Cup.
