  1. I have one problem that keeps niggling at the back of my mind, can this team pay Carey 10-10.5 mill per year and get the players it needs? Believe me I am a price fan boy ( for those of you who remember that term). He is the most technically sound goalie I have ever seen. But do we need the greatest goalie in history, or do we need goal scoring? Is it possible to have both in a flat salary cap world. Should we be looking at more balanced attack? Better scoring and defence with less spectacular goal keeping. Detroit did that for years. Now if Carey were to sign for 8 mill for 8 years, I couldn't turn that down. More than that would cause me to think.

  2. Yea, gave up 8 goals in 2 games against the sens, i think 9 goals in 6 games against the habs, minus empty netters. Shows how anemic the habs offense is However, literally everyone picked Habs to win series and many projected them to be drafting in bottom four. So many agreed with Bergevin's roster make up before the series and playoffs started, but now everyone is ranting the total opposite...bit hypocritical, no?

  3. According to last year's presser... Trading for Centres is impossible. According to this year's presser.... Drafting a Centre outside the top 10 is impossible. According to this year's presser, the Centre we drafted 3rd overall, we keep sticking him on wing. He's a winger. According to Engels. Shipachyov is mulling several big offers, and we aren't one of the teams competing with those big offers. Why does he have a job?

  4. Bob's later work, from Time Out of Mind (1998) to Tempest (2012), is fantastic. My favourite Dylan era, actually. But now we're off thread

  6. I fully share the general pessimistic view expressed here. For me too MB should not be our GM anymore. He has failed to improve the team. He has no methods, nobody can look at what he has done so far and understand what is his plan, and -- worse -- if he has one. I am so disappointed by the way we lost to the Rangers, and by the lack of potential that I see in our farm system, that I truly believe that next season will be the beginning of a long stretch of really bad seasons. My prediction is that we are at risk of being eliminated from the Stanley Cup series for a long time. It's as bad as that.

  7. How can that be possible? Subban can't be trusted in critical defensive situations!

  8. That's a hell of a song that gets no recognition within his larger body of work!

  9. He can't mortgage the future to add a top six centre. But he also hired people to run scouting and development that have provided no future to the team. So now he has an excuse in not adding a top six centre and playing a third line sophomore on the top line. Even though it's a huge spotlight on what a terrible job he has done as general manager. Every level of management on this club, save for, "Finding good value rehab projects", is a failure for Bergevin. But it's okay! They are a good team in the regular season!

  10. Or we could adopt a drug seeking mentality. Always pushing the same thing. Looking for that elusive high we had back in 2010 and 2014 just knowing that if we get one more hit, everything will feel better and we can all sleep at night. Or we could get ourselves back to rehab and in shape within 2-3 years.

  11. Incorrect, he said he isn't gonna do what it takes, not that he cant. Any monkey=Mike Milbury, or armchair GM can deal away a roster player or two and picks/prospects for a player. But you see many also whining loudly about weakness in prospect pool and to use it to help get a top six upgrade, will not deepen the pool, nor help the franchise down the road, nor help to get a big deal completed at present. So pick your poison and Bergy is not going for the short fix it seems and dosent look like he will change that strategy anytime soon.

  14. Yeah if we have a chance to finally solve our #1 centre issue then we do it. We are not going to "Ryder, Halak and a second" our way out of this. If we genuinely have a shot at Tavares then we need to come to the table with a serious offer. I'm not sure an up and down, currently struggling Galchenyuk as the key piece will get that done. If I'm the Isles I will want scoring in return. Patches, Beaulieu and a draft pick. Our chances of drafting the centre we need in a short time frame is pretty small. We can try and land a couple of lesser centres through free agency/small trades but we don't need any more third line centres. If there is a whale available then we need to do everything to land it.

  15. I don't ever recall being happy with MB's roster make up or being happy with the dark direction he's taken this team. I think you are delusional in thinking others are as happy with MB as you are.
