  1. He's not likely to become a top 6 player. That said, when you are signing UDFAs you aren't likely to find top 6 forwards. These moves are made in the hopes to find cheap depth. Its not a game changing move. The hope is to maybe find another Daniel Carr.

  2. I kind of think everyone is missing the point. I'm not questioning anyone's leadership or its value. I'm questioning rating a player because we feel he is a bad captain. There are countless examples of good players who happened to be captain, but played on bad teams. To let them go because they weren't good captains doesn't make sense to me. Let them go because you can improve the team. Sure. But getting rid of Pacioretty so you can get a better captain just doesn't make any sense to me.

  3. Agreed, these are people; it’s akin to the online troll situation. We disassociate so easily when we’re behind a screen. So easy to forget the words still mean the same on the other side. we’re lucky that we have a good crowd on this board. We might get a little rowdy but we generally keep it from crossing the line, even when talking about players/hockey staff. (Sour as hell but not abjectly horrible). Probabaly the most respectful board I’ve ever been a part of.

  4. When I list 5 or 6 issues and you focus on 1? A guy can succeed if he does other things. Gretzky was very good at dealing with the media, and was the face of not just a franchise, but of a league. Gretzky was good in the room, had close relationships with his teammates, and was clearly a guy who they respected when he spoke up. He was a conduit between players on the team and the coaching staff. He was an unselfish player who made everyone around him better. His ridiculous assist totals were always going to get him major respect.

  5. No one would cry tears over Daignault either, but Lefebvre's track record of failure is a whole other level. Whatever happens, it's good that the Habs are pulling in quality bilingual talent.

  6. I wouldn't necessarily think this is to replace Lefebvre. For starters, I could see Lefebvre replacing Daigneault if they decide to 'shake up' the NHL staff. If this is true, it's also no guarantee that Bouchard is coming to coach - he could be named GM as well given his background. I've wanted Bouchard as a coach for a couple of years now so hopefully, this winds up happening with Lefebvre heading out the door.

  7. Just the news that they are looking at him is a good development. If they dont get bouchard, they could move to other targets like Ducharme. Heck Bouchard taking Carriere's role and Ducharme taking slys might be ideal.

  8. I've heard stronger wording in an Eklund rumour, but I'll still keep my hopes up. Maybe Justin Molson finally woke up and was like, "Uh George I'm hiring a successful Q guy to see if you're not breaking all your toys."

  10. I've also said that is how it is in 2018.... i've never said that is what it always has been. I've also said that leadership is a real thing.... but that you don't need a letter to be a leader. Price is always going to be a leader, even without a letter on his jersey. How about you quit putting words in my mouth that you think I have said and read what I actually have written?

  11. Why would Tavares one to go from one ineptly run franchise to another?
