  1. Okay, I've seen so many positives about this guy, I thought I'd start a thread. What do you think of him? Defensive play, offensive, passing, creativity etc... I love this guy. He dishes out monster hits at the end boards. Doesn't take that many penalties. His outlet pass is very good. He seems to do the right thing most of time. His positional play is exceptional, and he can skate and shoot. As others have said, Hammer has been the biggest difference to this team this year. All I have to say is SHELDON WHO?
  2. Grabs is here because he is working hard and Lapierre did not in camp. I said before it's about how well all of these centres that we have play the wing. Lapierre will not be in the minors long, but when he comes up, don't expect him to push out Smoke or Chipchura in centre. He will have to adjust to the wing. (Same as Grabs is doing now) and I expect you will see the same production as Grabs. Noter on Smolinski: I liked Bonk better in his role. Bonk and Johnson were a good shutdown line. Smolinski has more upsides than Bonk. Work ethic for sure, but you have to admit that Bonk was a hell of a checking line centre. Dandy is way better as a checking winger than Johnson was though.
  3. I guess I am the only one who is not unhappy with Grabovski. He is a little worker. He is as fast as hell and never gives up on plays. He isn't getting any points, but with his work ethic, I can't complain. The problem is that he is a centreman. We have so much depth at centre, it is ridiculous. That's why Lapierre isn't on the team yet. IMO. I know he did not have a good camp, but I think this team needs to get some of these centres practicing the left wing position. I don't think the fact that we have all these centres is a mistake though. Centres always haver to backcheck harder and read plays more carefully. Having natural centres playin the wings on the 3rd and 4th lines could add the team's defensive responsibility.
  4. I was at the game tonight, and I was pretty nervous up until the empty netter. Huet played very well tonight. Thank God. Dandy looked very good out there. He is so fast. On TV, you don`t see the way he catches up to the play, but his speed is a huge asset on the 3rd or 4th line. Kostityn had his best night yet. It was nice to see him with Plex again. He looked dangerous all night. I can see why the LA fans loved Kosty. He is an aggressive ba---rd. I love our 4th line. Georges looked really good tonight. He doesn`t hit like Cube, but I would say his play lately has been very good. I think Bonk was a better shutdown centre than Smoke. I still like him though. I love Hammer. Man is he solid. He hits, his outlet pass is amazing. So now I fly back to stinkin old Alberta. I have to reiterate how impressed I was with Montreal. It is a very social city. I wish my grasp of French was better, because it would have been nice to communicate in French. I will have to work on it. I didn`t feel nervous at all. I really think this is one of the most unique cities in Canada.
  5. Well, tonight is my last night in Montreal. I am looking forward to the game. I am considering trading my tickets up, but the scalpers are insane. I must say that I have enjoyed the city very much. There are lttle differences here which make it unique. Old Montreal is wonderful. I hope that Montreal can resist corporate America for a while longer and keep it's charm.
  6. My observations from being at the game tonight. Latendresse needs to think more. He is a big guy. When he is alone in the zone, he should take the boards and protect the puck until help arrives instead of throwing it away. Ryder needs to sit out a game. Shoot Ryder Shoot. Faceoffs, faceoffs, faceoffs. Many of our goals come from the powerplay and we only got a few of those. I did think the leafs got away with a few though. Toskola played great We only played 40 minutes of hockey.
  7. I will be at the game tonight. My first ever NHL game. What time should I get there so I can find my seats, navigate the building and watch the pregame show?
  8. I was very pleased with Georges tonight. Lots of effort all over the place. "Lats"... "Please build on your 3rd period and make me love you again?" good third by Lats. Holy power play. If you see a guy holding a Sheldon Who? sign after a power play goal on Saturday or Monday up in 330 AA, that will be me.WOOOOOOOT.
  9. It's all a little more simple than all this IMO. Grabs works hard. Our coaching staff rewards hard work. He's an aggressive lil feller and Carbo says "Hey ####, work hard like Grabs and you can stay. Take shifts off and you can go live with lil ####."
  10. Here is a list of yesterday's games which were close in the last 5 minutes. And what do you know? The winning team is penalized in the last 5. Pens wild 3rd period : 14:56 Tyler Kennedy: 2 Minutes for Interference of Kurtis Foster Habs / Thrashers : 13:38 Ken Klee: 2 Minutes for High-sticking Alexei Kovalev (that was not a high sticking penalty) Coyotes / Blues : 13:53 Steve Reinprecht: 2 Minutes for Hooking Bryce Salvador 3 out of 5 games had penalties in around the last 5 minutes to the winning team. The Calgary game was a blowout, and the Oilers game was tied till the dying seconds of the 3rd. Start paying attention to this. It is funny.
  11. As I stated after the Pens game. The Wrestling fix continues. Atlanta up by one goal, who get's the 5 on 3 in the last 5 minutes? It's so blatant. The league should be embarrassed. The penalty on Kovy was obviously legit, but the shootout penalty in the last 5 is a joke.
  12. A couple notes. Grabovski doesn't give up on plays. He is a tenacious little guy. If he continues this, I think I will start to like him. Kosty and Lats have been disapointing so far this year. They either need to pick it up, or get out of the way for Lappiere, (who I love) and Dagostini. (As Easy Ryder said.) I'm buying a Price Jersey. I will be the guy in section 330 with the Cow Boy Carrie #1 sign O'byrne, O'byrne, O'byrne
  13. I'm with you man. Kosty looked good last year with Higgins and Plex. That's it. Other than that, he does nothing for me. Perez never did anything for me. I'm gonna catch a lot of slag for this, but it just seems that most Russian players that have played for the Habs are loaded with talent and lean on heart. Or they have no finish like Petrov. This is not meant as a racist slur. It is just the way the kids are brought up to play. I would rather see a bench full of Fins. They are scrappy little b----rds. There are exceptions to every rule, like Markov.
  14. I totally agree with you. He has potential to be great, but the 1st and 3rd goals would have been saves if Huet was in nets. One thing I considered while cursing him after the the Whitney goal was that maybe some of the saves that Price made look easy would have looked like amazing saves if Huet was in. Price's positional play is exceptional. Huet has to move around a little more to make the saves. I still think I will buy a Price jersey on Friday before I go to the Habs game on Saturday. It's him or Koivu, and I would rather have the jersey of a Canadian player.
  15. You know what I have noticed in a lot of games, and not just Habs games, is that when the game is a one or two goal game, the leading team often gets a penalty call in the last 5 minutes. The league wants the shootout. It makes the game exciting and makes fans sit on the edge of their seats. It was funny last night. I was watching the game with my daughter's boyfriend who is a Penguins fan, and he says "take a guess at who get's a penalty in the last 5 minutes of the game." Sure enough, Kosty goes off. (I missed that call. I don't know if it was legit.) 2 minutes later Begin goes off for absolutely nothing. (Pens hadn't scored yet.) Pay attenetion to other games and highlights. It is funny how often you will see this occur. It's as predictable as wrestling.
  16. I'm listening on CJAD. It sounds like there are 7 people in the crowd. It reminds me of the old Sampede Wrestling they used to show in western Canada on CBC. You can hear individual people saying stuff in the crowd. Ha-ha.
  17. Yes, but when Kosty has a bad game, he is a little fast guy who isn't doing anything. When Lats has a bad game, there is a good chance there will be one or two bone crushing hits in the end boards. I say that if the team is winning with their current roster and lines, don't mess with it. We all complain like crazy when Carbo juggles lines around like he does, then we complain again when he doesn't play our favorite prospect.
  18. Oh yeah...Lats looked better too. His hands are loosening up, which is his 2nd best weapon. And he protected the puck nicely along the boards a few times, and delivered that stadium shaking check, which is his biggest weapon. I predict Lats will unfortunately beat Chris Niel for injuring other team's players with his menacing forecheck.
  19. Holy crap our free agents look good. Hammer is our top D this year. Smoke has a serious offensive upside. Kostpolis is looking like he's fitting in, and filling his role nicely. Breezy is...well...Breezy. Oh well 3 outta 4 is damn good. And Breezy is a pretty good $750,000 D man.
  20. I think my tickets are in the 333 section. I haven't got them yet. I will be right at the edge of an upper section. ( that is the description from the guy who gave them to me.) I'm flying from Fort Mcmurray Alberta, staying for 5 nights. (Never been to Montreal before.) And I'm watching the Nov 2 SAturday game against Toronto and the Monday Buffalo game.
