GREAT THREAD Hey CC you mentioned mentoring.... Do you think that the fact the Habs may have forced a few players into retirement and traded a few at the end of they playing days may play a minor to major role in this lack in player development? When ever mentoring comes up I feel that players who have grown with the club in good and bad days can teach how to handle the pressures of play in MTL. Well IMO

WOW!!! I didn't fantom for a sec that I would get this kind of passion from my post. Thanks all Now why I would not want 3 pts games are a little wierd to some I see but I like the 2 pts system in place. I just think that forcing a win on a team and awarding 1 pt to the loosing one for this is (pardon the expression and I mean no disrspect with it) ######ed. If the SO winninng goal can not count towards the player stat then the win shouldn't either IMO. I think if a team knows that should they loose all pnts in play for any given game then we as fans of a team, the game will get our money's worth. That said awarding the 1 pt for an OT loss I have no probs with... Go figure!!! I guess you can say I am like an reformed old timmer

I would like that too but I fear 3 pts for a reg time win may cause one day a team to finish with like 200 pts at end season. I would not like to see that eventuality come to reality. I think that if a team looses in SO then that should be tabed as 'special' loss but no pts awarded. 2 for the win only. at end season loses in SO would count the same way as now, but no pts awarded.

I still would like to stand on making good offers to both goalies, should they not accept, keeping a few bucks to match a few counter offers proposed to either but in the end if I loose either to a bunch of 1st round and 2nd round picks. I don't think I would cry. Now if I'm in PG's shoes on draft day and there is an out side chance at the Hall kid for either 2 and ??? and ??? then that would most def get my ears open. Bhaa humbug what do I know... IMO, CP will one day be a real NHL back stop and as for JH well... I think, he can get to be like another former habs goalie... T. Vokoun (my bad if I mis-spelled). I think PG will find some solution to re-sign Plex via trade of some player, see players. I think that is the better move but, the school of thought that suggest a great team is built the net out always clouds this stance for me. And due to that I would really try hard to keep both goalies and make Plex in that sence a back up signing should I loose either goalies... something that is a very real poss should I take the for mentioned (i)ap-roach

right on. I didn't like that 'hit'. I think if he really wanted to make sure the rebound was not going to be in play via a hit play then he needs to be quicker on the player going to the net. That said what he did was just awful and there is no way in hell he should not be suspended for his actions. I would be screaming bloody murder if a similar hit was placed on dear old Laps. Varlan your d play is just right and Laps should apply it next time, well in IMO.

Every major (even a lot of the REAL tiny one's) Co. has some snot of 'regular' exchange with they clients about the direction they are/going to take. Hell even the legal mafia that robs my pay chk does that. Mostly to tell me how they figured out another 'legal' way to take my money but what do I know. I thnk this would be great for the Habs, as you said just to give day in day out support to they young palyers. That alone would justify 1/2 a week agains the nuts out there. I would do it for them. I would love to be a Habs rep on the radio and defend/support players. Obviously they would not be able to give a straight line in the radio but a 7 sec delay should catch all the swears I would hand out to some. I also think refs should stand against the media to answer for them selfves at times. But as I have been told this would not be justifiable in the regular season (unless of a major f*** up), but in the palyoffs....

All your points are great and honestly I would be all for a trade involving the "Special" K bros. I would take even the Staal brother that got flushed over them. But do you know the number of the GM willing to give up atleast a bag of hot pucks (NHL uses frozen pucks) for them? Plex for Sharp... sure if he doesn't want to come back, hell a sec round draft pick and hot pucks is better then what we got for Saku right? So let's not repeat the same mistake right Gauthy (new GM)? As far as the goalies go... qualitfing offer sheets to the 2 and see what team bites and gives up it's future (kinda what EDM did with Penner) for our hot goalie. I know most on this board will disagree with this approche on the fear to loose both goalies. Maybe Theo will come back if that happens. what the hey. is that a general question or a question that is specific to the Habs? As far as I can see the 'normal' rules that aply your question here in Montreal do not aply to the whole of the front office in the Habs Co. In a way as a fan i really like that cuz in theory that forces the team to make sound judment calls. As I have said in the past: I really like the way this team came to be for this season anyway. I wish BG would have more success with some of his calls, (and less injuries on the team) it would have taken a load off his shoulders... but the same could have been said about Peanut... if and if and if, eh?! As a true Habs fan I keep faith as any true believer. We are not out of the playoffs yet and regardless of how bad of a draft possition we get for making them, I rather the Habs make the playoffs then not. As we here all know: Anything can happen once in the dance. The prom is all about getting the girl right?! IMO the Habs should follow the same model as applied to the JM hiring. The guy (or gal) with the most amount of experience. Then again that could f*** up on me cuz as far as I know Melrozzz and that other douche are out there too

Olli is at like 5.5 mil/yr Phaneuf is at like 7.5 mil/ yr This trade may not work cuz of all the RFA's next summer, unless Gomer is the one going the other way. that would free up the cap space ness for Dion. + I don't think Olli is the kind of player BG or JM would want on the team. not cuz he doesn't have skills but more so cuz of all the rumors that he isn't a team guy. IMO this yr the Habs are tring to get a groupe of guys to gel more then anything else, sure to win game is a must, but also to get the guys to get close. Habs brass don't want the same melt down as last year and can you balme them?

Yet on the same line I say: he is a laughing stock anyway I would like to add: I think all on this board -pro or against Gomez- all agree his contract is WAYYYY out of proportion to his game/point production that he brings. And thus I also think if I (and some of us here) would be in the chair of BG, would buy out his contract or trade it for future considerations -that will never be considered- should it mean to keep Plex. but that is just my guess. None the less I like a couple of the ideas put forth already... - buy out and then resign him at a cap hit of 4 mil. I would like Gomez ALOT more on this team at a cap hit of 4 mil. I would agree. I thought the whole 2 man O system JM was preaching at the begining of the season was just that. I am hoping that once our guys back from the clinic have had a few games behind them, JM will start style that of game with our boys. I think most of the Habs like hard in your face skating games, as from what I see the leaders do. And Colin... with no disrespect, I do hope you are wrong.

There was a post earlier that brought a point that is a good X factor IMHO. Is Plex like Markov and willing to take less then market to stay? If so IMO uncky Bob has not failled in his development plan of young talent. 2 will bring on more players with TALENT to stay and maybe even come. Many ppl complained BG is not getting talent to sign via open market (since he did), now some ppl are going on the route we can't keep our talent. Can we all just stop a sec and cheer? I have faith our front office is able to do the best they can. I also believe that we have a good and at times great front office for the Habs. I do not shut my eyes to the mistakes but I see also that some of them might have been due to lack of sleep. This does not excuse all of them but... For now I say: Happy Holy Days to you and yours closest to you and Thank You Habs for giving this great streech (and still counting) so some may have trivial B*tc*N' along with they egg nog to cap off they meets and greets.
