  2. well, the summer is almost over. and fall is just about on us. and with that comes my favourite time of the year. no better way to get that started than another pre-season victory! GO HABS GO! GO HABS GO! GO HABS GO!
  3. Well, can anyone guess who I voted for... Ok. my nick gives my vote away, for all the reasons stated above.. specially like to reference to chip, big ####, and a perfect night watching a habs game... but getting serious. I have as a close second. AK, Price and the BIG O'Byrne! I'm surprised to not see D'agostini as well, on our list. Who I would rate on a list of third fav's; D'iago, SK (aka lil ####) and Gabby. Thats me guys and gals., at least on this topic. Now on to a very important annoucment. I just purchased seasons tickets for the bulldogs in hamilton! I'm sooooo looking forward to seeing our baby habs in action! I will be putting up tickets for games that I know for sure that I cannot make in the 07/08 season. I'd be willing to hand them over at par for anyone looking forward to seeing our little habs grow up... plus. just as I scouted games in the final round of the playoffs for the cup last season... look for home game reports by your biggest CHIPS and #### fan here at HW! I'll be giving a regular report on all home games that I attend titled... "Here's looking at you kid!" * just in case you missed my reports last season, on the prospects side of HW. my report from game #4 vs bears http://forums.habsworld.net/index.php?showtopic=12068 my report from game #3 vs bears http://forums.habsworld.net/index.php?showtopic=12050 And last but not least; second week in October is season ticket holders, season opening event at an irish pub organized by the team. It will be a meet and greet; with autographs and photos allowed with the entire team. To say I'm looking forward to this night would be a gross understatement. So there you have it. GO DOGS GO! GO HABS GO!
  4. GO HABS GO! NICE WIN! GO HABS GO! ps. I'm speaking of last night... and looking forward to more of the same...
  5. I think we need physical talented players at every position. Not sure if there is room on the bench for an enforcer on a regular or part-time basis...
  6. 1st period 0-0 7:22 left... kovalev just coughed up the puck.. on the 4 on 4. Ugly.. but all is well.
  7. Excellant! Been waiting for the season to start... and the pre-season will do just fine. GO HABS GO!
  8. thats right. most cable providers break down channels like RDS; but Rogers too like to screw around and package RDS with other french channels for a larger fee. Damn Capitalism at its best! In time my friend all things being equal, rogers will need to watch its bad ass business practices and sell a service at an affordable fee that competitive. Thats the key! Where is the competition for COGECO and ROGERS? not all areas have multiple options. I'd so what I can to put pressure on the powers that be but more needs to be done by us as individuals and us as a group with cash ready to spend or not spend as the rules of Capitalism dictates! GO HABS GO!
  9. Although I like to think that at times I'm a more realistic sort of chap! I prefer to say, without exception or excuses... That I always demand greatness from my HABS! Therefore, I predict good things! No, GREAT THINGS! We make it into the playoffs as contender and favourites to win the cup! and take it in record breaking fashion! GO HABS GO!
  10. Price will stand on his HEAD! you heard it here and I am proud to say that this kid is a giant playing with men. I for one welcome his addition to the Habs as soon as possible. Let the good time role! He's ready and so am I to WIN! GO HABS GO!
  11. I've always approved of the idea of Mark. That is to say that I love multi-role, dynamic players. Mark has this in spades. He can play a complete game in my mind. As a goal scorer / sniper he may be lacking but his two way game is fantastic. And he does have a great shot! The plus's certainly outway any negatives on my mind. He adds a key piece to any championship team. I don't mind him playing a front line roles as long as the situation dictates it! I'd prefer to pure goal scoring / point producing / gifted sniper any day but I'll take Mark as part of a team effort to win games. GO HABS GO!
  12. This article speaks to me of one very important tactic that most GM need to be ready for at the start of any season. a.) one or two players are not performing up to expectation, the rust needs to be shaken off. b.) injuries at the start of the season. c.) therefore, because of a + b or a/b; the GM need to trade. Bob has positioned himself well to either trade up for talent or to have the rank and file to fill in until such time that it is necessary to trade to improve the on ice product. Any way you cut it I like what I see not only on D but also on our front lines as well as our rook's, softs. Look for this to be a no second chances type camp/start to the season. Gainey has the cards to make moves and keep things very competitive; we are in for some excitement this season. GO HABS GO!
  13. IMO its surprising that the conservatives haven't blown up already. God knows there were many chances in the past months. However, the current perception/image of the other parties and their shaky leadership, Harpers ability to keep all his "troops" in check, and an extremely calm and clear but highly private way of handling the media has seemed to payoff for the Conservatives. Will it last? only time will tell, I cannot time travel to the future. However, if Harper is able to Lead effectively on the issues of the day. Climate Change, The North, The Economy and most importantly, if he lives up to his word! Then the Canadian public will give him another mandate and its quite possible that mandate may be much stronger than before. My friends we are headed for some difficult times this fall. And politically speaking it may get rough.
  14. I've been waiting to see that too. Do you know if its a true representation of historic events or almost fable like in its screen play?
  15. Much thanks to all the first hand reports please keep it coming and update on a regular basis. We are getting our fix in doses and it is much appreciated. GO HABS GO!
  16. Hey by the looks of things. We have quite a VW club brewing here in HW. (Dutch_Habs_Fan & CaliHabsFan) I'm driving a 5SP VW GOLF 2000 TDI with custom tail lights, and custom G4 Projectors in the front. Black. with dark tinted windows. I'll post a pic sometime soon... But would like to upgrade to the new Tiguan TDI in the fall of next year. It will be coming to north america with the new BlueTec Diesel Engine. http://www.tiguan.ca/
  17. Settlers of Catan is a great game. We have game nights with our friends when we get together to relive the memories of our university days and games like Catan, Carcasonne and Risk are often a topic of conversation or often a good way to end the night. thanks for the site Fanpuck33! I'll check it out asap.
  18. Lets hope that this is just the preview of what is to come in the near future to a habs game and bulldogs game near you! GO HABS GO! GO DOGS GO! GO HABS GO!
  19. Happy Belated Birthday Wishes to Carey Price! Go PRICE GO! Wishing you all the best for the next year and season. Make us proud!
  20. Yep! normally I would be willing to put my neck on the line and make a crazy prediction. But seeing as training camp this year is going to be absolutely HUGE! in terms of players, having a chance to step up and prove to management they need to be in the bigs, add to that the fact that we are stacked in a few of the positions we are in good shape for a early season trade. GO HABS GO!
  21. Did I just read an article on BriseBois? Is this the end of march and beginning of APRIL? someone tell me this is not an april fools joke! ok.. now that I have stopped shaking in shear panic and have had a moment to check the calender... O my GOD! its July! and according to this; we will be paying Breezy a cool 700K. Hrm.. lets think about this further shall we... he's older. loads of experience to train our up and coming kiddy pool of D. and he's willing to take a pay cut; Hrm. Looks like BG may have pulled a rabbit out of its hole on this one. So pray tell me that a trade is brewing... I'm all ears and all eyes, we are stocked ready to make a deal; our beloved Canadiens our on the cusp of greatness. Cause it looks like BG has sensed a return to the 1993 cup run. Its about time we got our game face and season plan in order. GO HABS GO! Take us to victory! And for heavens sake no BOOING! The Breezer needs to be given a clean sheet and start a fresh! I repeat no BOOING! Ok so maybe we aren't on the cusp of anything just yet. But I sure am starting to feel like I have absolutely no idea as to whats going on in Montreal? Is it the water? I hear bottled water actually comes from city tap water systems. Maybe drinking too much tap water has finally caused a permanent time warp. What ever the case. GOD HELP US!
  22. CUBIE is a small D-man. But, Montreal has made it work in the past with the likes of Mathieu schneider. Just look at his career. Its not been perfect all the way through he's had his fair share of injuries and difficult seasons. Thats life, in the real world. However there are certain parts of the equation that must be answered for any player be it D-man, Forward or Goalie; Does he have the skills and can he still compete and will he be a learning adapting playing into the season and into the future? Finally is there chemistry with this player on our team and in our style of play as a franchise? When you look at those questions. you can eliminate what may or may not happen in the course of a players career and bet on success. Afterall, all at the end of the day we are all gambling with lines combinations, trades and drafts. You try to do everything to make your best guess and bet on a winning combination. As the years go by, things change and players change. Cubie has met the requirements, but don't for a second think that management isn't analyzing his and his teammates value to the organization on a yearly, monthly or in the case of some game by game. Do I like the Cube yes, has he earned his position yes, does he deserve to play yes, is his spot on the team a sure thing? Besides Koivu. and any one else with a no trade clause has the right to collect a pay cheque from the habs until their contract is done, but no one has a Guarantee of ICE time. Carbo. made that crystal clear last season. So my advice to the Cube and every Habs player, from the rookies to the Vets; come out playing your game, with intensity and passion and compete for Le Canadiens, every night! Your future depends on it.
  23. Your right my BAD; Locke did spend the entire season in the AHL. I must have had a brain fart when I was writing that response. So I'll give you another Bulldog that is ready for his NHL shot; but I'm not convinced he can make it work in the bigs. Needless to say your points are well taken. The bulldogs have a team of players that could be NHL level performers. But they are our prospects and will be used to prop up our team/trades. I'm not willing to give up multiples of our kids for one or two pieces that may help us, next season. You need solid prospects in a long NHL season; injuries are part of the game and we will see the youth in our lineup; The puck will always be in their court to be played and played well so that they give management a moment to pause and consider a permanent position.
  24. You quite right JCC I did forget Locke; but there in lies the problem. He spent much of his time in the ECHL. its difficult and I know this best after watching him he does have the skill; but its difficult to say that he will continue to play and be effective if he is promoted to the NHL or stays in the AHL for that matter.. but he certainly has earned a change to stay in Hamilton IMO, and will certainly warrant a call up if he does not make a spot at camp. Needless to say I agree with all your conclusions. but also feel training camp and the first half of the season will dictate managements response. Furthermore, with players under contract, the ball is always in their court to continue to perform at a high level and wait for the chance and that call up, they cannot falter. The habs have never rushed talent. La Fleur was a perfect example; I think even he had to spend a year in the minors before being called up to the NHL.
