I definitely believe in this regime's ability to assess and handle young talent more than the last. That said, giving Wright more time to marinate in the minors and sliding his ELC wouldn't hurt IMO. And then when we draft Berard next year they can both come up at the same time and take the pressure off each other.

I think that 3C is an important enough position to warrant that kind of cap hit on a good team - equal to a second line wing or second pairing d-man for instance.

He may turn out to be more of Koivu level 1b guy, which is fine at his cap hit. However, this makes it imperative that we hit on a true #1 stud in the next two drafts. Wright and Bedard come on down! We can't go into the next era of trying to build a contender with another Pleks-Desharnais or Danault-Suzuki tandem that doesn't stack up down the middle.

St Louis doesn't have to be a championship coach because we won't be competing on that level for a while. He has to be a good vibes curator and prioritize player development. So far he looks solid in that regard.

I think that hatred that you have for the Nordiques and Sens is good as a sports fan and makes cheering for the Habs more fun. I'd rather have teams with passionate fanbases than another American market where hockey will never be higher than 4th or 5th on the totem pole.
