Yep, so far we've traded the players who were easy to trade. Can't see too many takers for these guys (besides Petry, who still has decent value in my book).

If Carey keeps up the solid outings, I'm still holding out hope that he'll have trade value (with significant salary retained) and we could get a decent asset for him. If contenders like COL or EDM get let down by goaltending again, they might move heaven and earth to get a legend like Carey as a backstop.

Hoping for another respectable regulation loss in this one, albeit with a bit more scoring (and an Arizona win). Can't see the Habs managing 40 shots a second night in a row. Maybe Harris draws back in, and Suzy hits 20 goals?

Wow. Even if you're in a full on rebuild you don't want to see that level of foolishness. Everyone seemed to forget that there was a goal that they're defending.

The fact is that we're going to be mediocre, at best, integrating 2-4 rookie defensemen over the next couple of years. I'd rather be rewarded for these seasons with studs in the draft than not. There's a higher likelihood of that reward with higher picks. Sure, we whiffed on our last two top-3 picks, but that was the old regime. Of course there are no guarantees, but we help our chances by drafting high. St-Louis seems like a good developmental coach who could keep team spirits up through this rebuilding phase - helping the youngsters to improve and handle the adversity in a tough market. Let's face it, we're going to stink for a bit, might as well come out the other side with a true contending core.

We'll get roughly equivalent value for Allen if we sell him at the deadline or in the summer, so we might as well keep him till the deadline.

Drouin has been such a flake and wasn't even a part of our finals run, so I don't see the Quebecois fanbase being too sad to see him go. Carey's been taking the ice lately. It'd be great to see him play a game or two before the season's up.

Galley and Craig Simpson are just the worst. Makes me miss the buffoonery of Pierre Maguire, who was at least entertaining and not a bore or a wet blanket like those two. I try to watch on RDS, but the TVA broadcast is markedly worse. Felix Seguin has such weird mannerisms, and then they have Michel Bergeron spew nonsense in the intermission in a Don Cherry-like fashion.

KK's not an elite talent like Caufield. What was he actually great at? Skating, shooting, passing, physicality? Nothing stood out. Contrast that to CC who had elite puck skills from day one. KK would do well to live up to his 4.8M price tag at this point. Not saying it's impossible - he could easily become a 40-50 point two way C - but he's not there or particularly close yet.

With all the rookies we're trying to integrate - especially on D - over the next couple of years, it's inevitable we won't be very good. We have to add a few studs to our core over the next couple years, and this would be aided by drafting high. Florida, Tampa and Toronto got their elite cores by drafting high. I don't think we should actively try to suck, but getting top picks (and actually hitting on them) would help our longterm goals.

I'd prefer to get a stud C in this draft, but as always I'll take BPA. Don't want another KK debacle.

Second pairing D men are complementary pieces. You can't build your team around them but you need them to succeed. Petry is a #2 D man, or first pairing, at his peak.

Gally called out Stutzle's antics: At first I rolled my eyes at Gally doing this to an opposing player during an abysmal season, but after reading the quote I think he did it the right way and didn't go too far or resort to too many old school platitudes.
